Very nice hot pools (or they will be when the renovations are finished) and the restaurant was great. The accommodation however was woeful and overpriced. We stayed in the Japanese room which looked great online. It was the smallest motel room I have ever seen. In fact with our bags in the hallway (the only place for them) we could...

Maruia Springs is my favourite place in NZ. Yes, the accomodation and other facilities are tired and need an upgrade, but it is just like When being in Japan. Yes, there are sand flies, but that is what happens in the bush in NZ. Maruia has recently been. Ought out by new (non Japanese) owners and I hope they do...

The place was very relaxing, not too many people around. I wished we came in winter to see the hills covered in snow while sitting in the hot pools .. Will definitely return when I am in NZ again :) Although the place was looking a bit rundown it was still wonderful experience.

The previous reviews are pretty accurate ... the place is a bit run down, but clear that the new owners are trying to get things back up to scratch. We stayed overnight on a package deal and overall it was a nice mini break and have very little to complain about. The outdoor pools were lovely and relaxing .. I...

The hot pools here are so much better than Hanmer - the location is amazing and there are no screaming children as the springs have not been turned into a water park with slides. This place was owned by Japanese up until a few months ago, The original owners let it decay and now it looks tired but there is...

It is under renovations so 5 out of the 6 private pools were closed and it's all getting very tired looking. The food was absolutely amazing though and they said they were getting a new chef in the next week. We will wait till the renovations are done and have a look then. I think they need a couple more...

Unique location in the middle of beautiful bush & mountain. The rooms need an upgrade but the restaurant and outdoor hot pools are lovely. Great dinner the night we arrived with fantastic service throughout the resort. The outdoor hot pools are private with great mountain/stream views.

Went just for the pools, as a rest from the campervan life. The staff were very friendly, although quite small the 3 outdoor pools and the indoor one were quiet and beautiful with an amazing view of the valley ahead. The flies were unbearable and we had to constantly keep an eye and still got bitten like crazy. Changing rooms...

We booked Maruia Springs in preference to Hanmer Springs as it was not so commercial but we're disappointed in the quality of the facility If you are not to concerned with the standard of the facility it is OK Buildings are about 20 years old with little maintenance carried out The restaurant has an appealing menu however the food served...
