Most comfortable beds ever! Lovely heritage building in city. Nice 2 bedroom suite with all amenities, kitchen, laundry, several tvs, 2 bathrooms. Spacious and comfortable. Gym, lap pool and spa. Great service. Easy parking across road.

We spent about a week here. It was a comfortable and convenient hotel. Well-equipped including laundry machine and dryer, stove, oven, etc. The beds were comfortable. The building was old style but well taken care. The location was good. We could walk easily to the park, the shopping mall, even good restaurants. They offered a valet parking too. Of course,... Wow, what an amazing hotel. Even thouh the hotel is still undergoing some restorations with scaffolding blocking the front entrance, once you stepped inside, it was stunning. Our room was 2 floors, with gorgeous old fashioned furniture and our bed was simply devine. The facilities including the lap pool, spa and sauna were fantastic. Definately would stay here again.

If you love older architecture and appreciate modern conversions from prior usage, this is the place for you in Christchurch - miraculously spared from earthquake damage. But as a hotel, it is excellent in all aspects - the suites are spacious and great adaptations of space from the building's previous life as government offices. The beds are probably the most... I love heritage buildings and this time I get to stay in one. I also chose it because it's survived 3 major earthquakes so is still standing strong :-) Good bed, excellent water pressure, good staff, great service and with the valet service was easy to check in

Amazing, grand hotel in a location close to the shops and parks. The suites have 2 levels to them with a large kitchen and bathroom. The safe didn't work but to be honest we felt so safe it wasn't an issue. The restaurant experience was a bit strange as our food was brought out at different times and the room... More

Great room in the Heritage which was central to Christchurch and great for having a look around, particularly as it was close to the train loop and looked out on a building still un-repaired from the previous quake. The room was well appointed and comfortable. It was unfortunate that we experienced our first earthquake about midnight just after we turned... More

Our room was quite 'grand' and very comfortable. It was a 1 bedroom apartment with the bedroom upstairs on a mezzanine level. Lovely furnishings and well equipped kitchen for longer stays. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. There's a great 1920's style bar in the hotel called OGB - make sure you stop in for a drink and... More

The hotel was really great! Neil gave us an upgrade, so we had a very nice stay. He carried all! our luggage and the room was waauuww. The housekeeping was also really great! The only thing we were really mad about is that we did the valet parking for 15$ a day and the first thing they do is drive... More

We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was a very generous size (2 bathrooms, full kitchen etc). Staff were very good and it had a funky little bar on the ground floor. The best feature is the building itself, with high ceilings, grand staircase etc. This flowed into the rooms also. The only gripe would be that it was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Christchurch is a long way from the Mediterranean - nevertheless, the opulence of an Italian High Renaissance Palazzo awaits you at the Heritage Christchurch. Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance. The hotel's grand design is fitting: after all, Christchurch is regarded as the Garden City, and is regarded internationally for its culture and refinement. ... more   less
