We had the unit closest to the road, and had road traffic until midnight, starting again about 5.30am. The queen size bed was so soft, it was like sleeping in a double hammock. Single occupancy by someone deaf might have been better. The staff were very efficient and friendly, and knew that road noise was a problem. Our friends had...

We stayed at Merivale Manor for 3 days in early January 2017. In post-earthquake Christchurch, until the rebuild, unfortunately visitors are most likely better off staying in the suburbs and Merivale Manor fits this bill well. There are restaurants and other amenities within a few hundred metres and the CBD is about a 25 minute walk. Merivale Manor has a...

We stayed here twice during our trip to NZ. First was for 2 nights over Christmas, then we returned for one night a week later after visiting further south! We stayed in two different rooms within the house and both were lovely. A real sense of history was felt - especially when sitting on the upstairs balcony as the sun...

We stayed in the 'Te Wepu' suite which was much more luxurious than we were expecting for the price. Excellent self-catering facilities, very friendly staff (even whilst working on New Years' Eve). Rooms were large with great showers in the en-suite to each room, spacious hallway and lounge. Enjoyed having a drink on the large veranda. Direct bus route into...

We stayed at Merivale Manor twice on our stay around South Island in 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was over 2 floors with double bedroom and ensuite on ground floor, living/dining/kitchen on 1st floor and double bedroom, twin bedroom and main bathroom on 2nd floor. Lovely clean apartment, parking, cereal, bread and milk supplied for breakfast.

Stayed at Merivale Manor two different times while traveling in NZ. It gets our rating of A+/Excellent for many reasons. The owners Wayne & Karen are very hospitable, knowledgeable of the area, gregarious, kind and concerned for their guests. Hotel is very "secure" when it comes to earthquakes. We experienced a 7.8 while there and our room remained quite stable....

Stayed in two types of accommodation here, the first night friends stayed in a room in the actual house (at the back) and it was lovely. Beautiful large king size bed and great room with a kitchenette. They arrived the night before and I arrived very early morning and had to wait in their room until our apartment across the...

The manor was clean, roomy and centrally located. Brain the manager on duty whenever we went into the office was very knowledgeable and helpful to us. Coming from the US we had lots of questions and he was always gracious in helping us. We showed up a day early and he was able to get us into a room and...

Not cheap but some things are worth every penny, and this is one of them. Thank you Bridgett and Brian, you were so accommodating and helpful. Our family appreciated the use of your grill for our Christmas dinner! Also, your two service women were so nice, friendly and fun! Loved their Christmas antlers! Future visitors, this place is top notch...
