Yellow House was a fun and Charming B & B. Our hosts were fun and so helpful. We were there 2 nights with another couple. A lovely water view. Easy walk into town of Portobella for dinner. Rooms well appointed. One being a little larger than the other since it had a sitting area. Lovely spot to have our pre- dinner... More

I'd just like to put in a mention of the welcome we received at the Yellow House. We visited many B&Bs in our trip to NZ but this was one of the warmest. It is a lovely property but having our clothes washed, dried and folded as a matter of course was a generous touch.

We are long overdue in writing this review from our stay back in March, but better late than never, I hope! We spent three weeks on both islands of New Zealand, and we spent five days in Dunedin (an odd choice to some, as Dunedin is not particularly famous), but it was such a fantastic choice, and Yellow House was... We stayed one night - two couples. The rooms were well appointed, and took advantage of a hillside heritage property, with some interesting nooks and crannies. Our two rooms were terrific and the highlight was breakfast in the 'loft' overlooking Dunedin Harbour. Not only was the food great, but the ambience was wonderful. We would come back and recommend this... More

I was very warm welcomed by Jan on arrival. The suite was spacious and stylish. Love the glass walls with sea-view and rooftop at the living area, great view to the sky. The house is very close to Portobello and just outside of the house you can find a bus stop which is helpful if you don't have your own... More

This B&B has it all together. All of the basics were covered - great room, food, service, location, restaurant recommendations and travel guidance - Jan seemed like a super organized hostess - even has her own chickens to ensure fresh eggs for breakfast. We really liked the location in Portobello - perfect place to get away from the world, and... More

We were so glad we headed toward the Otago peninsula and did not stay in Dunedin after visiting the city. In just 45 minutes drive, we were transported into the quaint town of Portobello, in the midst of a beautiful nature. We chose to stay in the bigger room / suite (there are only 2 rooms), which was spacious, romantic... More

We couldn't believe our luck when we came across the Yellow House on the Otago Peninsula. We were at the end of our trip around New Zealand. Booked in for one night as we were due back in Christchurch to fly out in a couple of days. Decided this place was too good to only spend one night so we... More

One of our very favourite b&bs on our tour around both the North & South Islands. Jan and Mike were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Jan gave us great advice on where to visit during our stay. We went to one of their favourite nearby beaches and were privileged to see sea lions arriving on the waves... More

Coming to Otage peninsula and driving along its coastal road up to the Yellow House was an experience we Will never forget. But the welcome by Jan (and lateron by Mike) was so friendly, our stay with them made it one of the best during our holiday in New Sealand. Coming with suggestions for places to visit, making reservations for... More

The 'Starry Suite' is situated in a separate wing off the main house. The large bedroom and private relaxation areas offer breathtaking views of the harbour and nearby Pudding Island.
