Room was clean and comfortable. Meals were delicious. Staff were wonderful, very welcoming and helpful. The amenities were great. There's a bar, bottle shop, and it's located within walking distance to Queen's Park. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

I'm pretty conflicted about this place, to be fair. I've started from a point of giving it two stars, but perhaps it's more like a 2.25 if I could give an in-between type score. For reference, we had a Premium King room @ $185/night for two nights. Pros - - Newly refurbished

Hello Velvet Jacket, Firstly thank you for staying with us. Wow, quiet an in-depth review. I agree first impressions count, over the Christmas holiday period we do consolidate our services but this shouldn't impact the guest experience, if you felt it did then I apologize. Invercargill weather is quite unique, hot one minute then cold, windy and back to mild. The hotel is 50 plus years old and back in the day you didn't need air-con so the rooms do not have any built in cooling systems only radiator heating which is perfect for winter time and not so helpful during summer.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback, Yes the construction started earlier than their 9:30am start time a couple of times, workers keen to finish all tasks before the Christmas break and the joys of having multiple companies working at the same time. As for rooms, we have a selection of options with twin and triple rooms being quite large. Thank you for staying and reviewing us.

Parking isn't the best. There's only a small area outside the hotel to drop the car for valet and most of the time it seems to be full. If you arrive after 5pm then there is usually parking across the street, but during the day the parking is a pain. Bar and restaurant are

Nice room but scaffolding an eyesore which ruined view as this is my first time to Invercargill & I was looking forward to staying in the Kelvin. Also blonde hair from previous guest was in spa, obviously it was not cleaned thoroughly. Today is our wedding anniversary & my

Hello Dalene, I see you and your partner both wrote the same type of comments on the night you checked in. So I will not repeat my comments, however you are welcome to check his review response. I do hope that by the time you checked out (4 days after you wrote your review) you were able to enjoy your trip to Invercargill, and enjoyed catching up with your family down here? All the best
