We stayed in a mountain view chalet for one night. Rooms are impressive with large floor to ceiling glass doors allowing you to maximise the view. Our chalet (#12 from memory) had views of both mountain and river which was stunning. We were travelling with our 5-month old so requested a porta-cot. Housekeeping didn't assemble (unlike other places we stayed...

We turned up here after completing the Routeburn walk and had a booked a cruise the next morning on the Sound. The lodge was booked out except for 2 beds in 4 bed dorm room. Found this to great value for money. The room was comfortable, a bit small but we only required to sleep in it! Communal showers were...

We were booked into the Milford Sound Chalets by a third party, and were in some doubt as to the correct location. The publicity material indicated a luxury room, but on leaving the road we found a backpacker lodge/ motor caravan site. The promised chalets had been squeezed in between this and the river. Thus we had a fine vew of mountainsides at the front,but...

I've stayed here several times to use as a base for tramping, climbing and sea kayaking and love the atmosphere and the chance to get to spend more time at Milford rather than just the masses of tourists that just bus in and out each day. I was very surprised to see the new layout. The kitchen is now located...

On our recent trip to NZ we visited Milford Sound. As it is such a popular tourist attraction we assumed that there would be a choice of motels/b&bs as in other parts of NZ and we had planned to stay for 2 nights. We were wrong!!! This is the ONLY place to stay and the ONLY place to eat and...

Avoid trying to stay at this campsite. They have a monopoly position and really are only interested in value adding, ie packages. At 56 dollars they were the most expensive campsite we stayed on and to be honest you would have been better staying in your local pak and save . Try and stay in Te Anau, but you will...

The Riverside Chalets are spacious and nicely decorated. There are large windows and mountain views (in addition to the river), and a kitchenette with heated floors. It is only a two minute drive (or 15 minute walk) to the marina where the Milford Sound boat tours launch. The restaurant provides a good breakfast and dinner for a reasonable price. One...

We stayed for 2 nights here after hiking the Milford Track. The room was very nice- modern and very comfortable. It had a mini kitchen- complete with microwave, refrigerator, and even utensils, which was very nice to have when eating leftovers. The bed was super soft, which was amazing after a 4 day hike where we were sleeping on bunk...

We stayed for two nights in a Mountain-view chalet (#20). Our chalet was at the very end of the chalets and beautifully quiet with the most picturesque view to the mountains. The chalet design is stunning with full length glass windows opening up to the view. The chalet was well appointed, but there are two suggestions for improvement - (1)...
