This was clearly a high end place a few years back but the description on the booking sites are for the previous business. The garden is weed infested, lots of small but important things like fan heater and tv not working. The “secluded area” associated with our ground floor suite has a tin shed in it and the rooms were not clean. The rooms are large and pretty well appointed and the view would be great if they chopped back the weeds. Prices in Queenstown these days are generally pretty silly so maybe $400/ night is Ok? But compared to pretty much anywhere else in NZ I’d say this was overpriced for what you get.

Pencarrow Luxury Lodge was a real surprise. The view of the lake from our ground floor room was beautiful. The lodge was a little difficult to find initially as actually not on Franklin Rd but off a side street on to Pencarrow Lane. Stayed in the Gold Suite and it was so much bigger than we expected, huge living area and ensuite with spa bath. Furnished in old world charm it immediately made you feel at home. So many thoughtful little extras eg binoculars available in the suite to help make our stay more enjoyable. A little short on crockery ie dinner plates etc. No toaster in room but staff happily obliged when we requested same. Rodman was such a kind and welcoming host...thank you! Great value for money.

We arrived later than planned, but then it was only 545pm. Reception not manned at that time (couldn't be certain where 'reception' was to be honest), so we had to call the manager who explained where our room was. It was slightly difficult to find, as the address implied it is on the main road, when in fact it is set back a few hundred yards up a small road. Not an issue, but keep an eye open for the Pencarrow sign that you can see from the road. We stayed in the Lighthouse Suite room which was really nice, and frankly stunning views over the lake. The room was well prepared, clean, tidy and just a pleasure. A little strange we didn't see anyone when we were there, but I suppose it gave it a sort of private feel. I'd recommend the place.

This property is being advertised as a luxury accommodation but this is not the case. Have just spent two nights here and it’s nothing more than a hostel. No restaurant or bar licence., no full time staff., only a guy that gives you a key to your room then leaves a contact number. This was once a beautiful place going by the advertisement photos but obviously has been neglected for some years. A total rip-off and I would go as far to say borders on fraudulent advertising.

Nice house and we received good insteuctions how to find it but the reception is limited to a few hours ech day, so it feels almost like a private rental. The emergency phone numbers had answering service so it took a while to contact anybody when we needed something. The view from our terrace was nice.
