Our hosts could not have been kinder, and we had a very comfortable, tranquil five nights here. Loved watching the deer, and waking to the spectacular views over Lake Te Anau. Easy, short drive into Te Anau and Manapouri, but wonderful to be able to return to the quietude of our little cottage.

Its a cozy cottage with wheelchair access and lovely views of the lake. The host left fresh milk and yummy chocolates in the fridge to welcome guests. Fresh linen and milk were provided after three days. It’s a bit cool overnight even in February so we left the heater in the lounge and floor heating in the bathroom on overnight to take the chill off. It made the cottage so comfortable. However, a number of things that would improve the stay a lot more: a little folded table or chair in the bathroom to put things on so didn’t have to lean over the toilet all the time. As a minimum for the price being charged tissues should be provided. Internet was a bit flaky signals kept dropping off. Shower did not have enough pressure which took a long time to shower especially washing hair. The sink in the bathroom was tiny so it’s impossible to wash clothes for people like us travelling around NZ for a couple of weeks, we had to use the kitchen sink instead. Lack of attention to details - body wash bottle was empty, only one roll of toilet paper provided for five nights stay, rubbish should have been collected after a couple of days or rubbish bags provided with instructions where it could be dumped as it was getting smelly towards the end of our stay. We went to their Italian restaurant for pizza and really enjoyed the food. The whole family were really hard working people. The hosts were very busy with their restaurant therefore not much interactions with guests unless their daughter Olivia was around. It was not a problem for us since all the instructions and information was made available and if any in-depth information required about walks we just went to information centre in town. We enjoyed our stay at Glacial Rock Cottage #1 very much.

Fantastic being so close to Te Anau town (5 minutes drive) but also away from it all in a cosy cabin with ever changing views. Loved sitting on the terrace in the swing seat looking at the fields and mountains and ever changing sky. Underfloor heating was a nice touch, as were the eggs from the farm.

This well-designed and warm house was situated on a working farm and separated from the rest of the buildings, allowing for comfort and privacy. However, Finn and Sarah were very friendly and accommodating when necessary and made our stay convivial and enjoyable. Would definitely stay again!

We've stayed at Glacial Rock B&B twice, ten years apart. Both visits were amazing and too short. Great location just a short drive from Te Anau, but you feel as if you are truly away from it all. Wonderful place to soak up the big open skies of Fiordland and fantastic views from the balconies of the two cottages. Cottages were super comfortable with everything you need and good size. Sarah and Finn are fabulous hosts.

Glacier Rock Cottages are on a secluded track about 5 mins drive from Te Anau town These cottages are on a working farm and are of the highest standard Heated flooring in the bathroom and kitchen, comfy double bedroom with double pull out bed in living room. Wonderful views over the fields from the lounge Fantastic breakfast provided by sarah (milk straight from the cow and fresh eggs from the farm) Sarah and Fin couldn't be more welcoming, they gave us extra toys for our son to play with The accommodation was very convenient for town and I would recommend this to anyone thinking of visiting Te Anau

There are two cabins on the farm run by Sarah and Fin. Ticks all the boxes - good size (open plan living / dining / kitchen with separate bedroom and bathroom), large comfy bed, well equipped. The views are lovely, overlooking the lake (about 5 km away) and mountains beyond, seen from bedroom and living room and deck. A couple of niggles - the shower is not brilliant, goes hot and cold and the flow is variable. While we were there the wifi was intermittent, and off for long periods. It is very quiet and about 10 min drive from Te Anau, about 1.5 km of this along a rough gravel track (i.e. rough if you are in a hire car, OK in a 4WD!). The surrounding area is farmland, mostly deer. Sarah is very busy, she also runs the family Italian restaurant in Te Anau (worth a visit, the pizza is excellent). But she or one of the family / friends / helpers seemed to be around to answer questions / help if needed. Overall - a great place to stay.

We were trying to book at other locations without success as it was peak period. An owner referred us to this place and we made a booking for one night. Our family five loved the place. The cottage is very well furnished, very well kept rooms with all mod cons and very comfortable beds. Free wifi was excellent. The view from the cottage was simply beautiful. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio overlooking the expansive farmland. Sarah and Finn were friendly and made us feel at home. Their children left some nice welcome messages in the cottage - nice touch. The location is marvellous and really peaceful. The cottage is a few hundred yards from the owners house however we had enough privacy. Sarah & Finn are busy with their Italian restaurant in Te Anau. As a result the cottages are self catering only. This worked out well for us as we prefer to prepare our own simple breakfast. Our family loved the place and we really regret spending only one night here. Will definitely return!

Thank you Sarah and Finn for a wonderful stay!

We are so glad we found your cottages and how lucky that you had availability for our family!

The cottage was perfect for us, we are a large family of 6, with 4 young kids so Sarah put an extra roll out bed in the cottage for us so that we could top and tail the little ones, this worked out great.

The cottage itself is of an excellent standard with a great kitchen and lovely bathroom. But the show stopper is the deck, where you can sit for HOURS just looking at the view of lake Te Anau. Sunrise and sunset is truly beautiful, then late at night the moon and stars are incredible.

Sarah also took time to introduce the kids to some of the animals, we fed some sheep by bottle, fed the chickens, patted horses and collected eggs! We would recommend anyone to stay here and hope you have as wonderful time as we did! Good luck guys and it was lovely to meet you!

We stayed here one night but have fell in love with this self-contained cottage. It was clean and comfortable. It had everything that we needed: a well equipped kitchen, heated flooring, clean shower room, comfortable beds. We felt relax especially when sitting at the swing and admiring the fantastic views surrounding us! Unfortunately it was a cloudy day when we were there, if not it would have been a good spot for stargazing at night. The host, Sarah is a nice and friendly lady. Despite of her busy schedule at her pizza restaurant, she arranged some fun activities for us. We got to feed the little lambs and picked the chicken eggs at her farm. Thank you Sarah !
