Spent 2 nights in Te Anau, unfortunately could not get 2 nights in the first motel, so Fiordland National Park Lodge was our only option, as the motel was sold out so we had booked backpacker rooms. Rooms were basic with ensuite bathrooms, with a communal kitchen, living and eating area. Great views from the kitchen of the lake. Here's...

Its a nice clean place for a stopover before heading out to Milford Sound. Very near to the lake. The rooms were clean. Bathroom was proportionately much larger and better equipped than the room. The short walk across the road from the lodge to Lake Mistletoe was a waste of time.

We made a last minute booking so we ended up in a motel room the first night and a hotel room the second night. The motel room was fairly basic but had everything including a little kitchenette (although the microwave is in a dangerous position). However, it was fairly warm when we were there and there's no AC. As other...

Probably the last motel on way to Milford Sound that's not in Milford Sound. Good things first: 1. Great views of the lake. 2. Closer to Milford Sound - easier to reach Milford early in morning and take the cheaper and less crowded morning cruise. 3. Nice little, well furnished rooms, clean large bathroom. 4. Well equipped common facilities -...

We stayed here overnight as we were travelling from Queenstown to Milford sound but didn't want to drive the entire way really early in the morning. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms which had an excellent view of the mountains. The price was great and was a great place to stay before driving to Milford Sound the next...

Good stay for the price, 30km closer to Milford Sound than Te Anau. Nice, friendly staff. Old decor, but everything worked. If all booked in Milford, try it if the primary goal is just sleeping. Downside: There is nothing besides the lodge here. No food, no activiies, no "fun".

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I have been to the area several times and I will return again and again. Hiking, helicopter rides and just taking in the views is awesome. I highly recommend a visit to this part of the world. It will always be a great experience.

The backpackers is homely, with a great view. It's simple, maybe a bit dingy, but comfortable and clean. Showers are hot! It's close to the park and quiet, and absolutely met our needs. It could do with a few renovations, but Wayne (the new owner) is friendly and helpful with a good sense of humour. All in all I would...

Big rooms but not new at all. Place could do with a few improvements in the bathroom and kitchen. Very good location as its in a quiet part of Fiordland national park. Great for stay if on way to Milford Sounds. Worked perfectly as had early morning cruise at Go Orange cruises Milford Sounds.

We stayed in the Backpackers before and after the Milford Track. We were warmly welcomed by the new manager (Wayne) and shown through the backpackers which featured a warm fire place, kitchen, laundry and a large area where you can make a BBQ outside. The old style lodge gives some refreshing character and homeliness after some time on the road....
