We stayed here two nights in March, arriving after a daylong, beautiful drive from Golden Bay. By prearrangement, we enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner perpared by Alison, an exceptionally skilled chef. Andre took care of orienting us to the area and did a great job in describing our options for hiking. They are wonderful hosts who made us feel very...

This place has been designed so tastefully. The eye for detailing is amazing. Both Alison and Andre are such great company to be with. Dinner and breakfast is nice too with local produce from the 33 acres of land they own. Outdoor bath tubs definitely are the star attraction. This place is so remote yet its easy reach to the...

We had an incredible weekend. The cottage and the landscape are really nice and it is close to many beautiful places - deserted beaches, rainforest, pancake rocks, etc. There are two baths outside and we could enjoy the sunset while having a hot bath and drinking a glass of champaign that was part of our pampering package!! Upon our arrival...

Birds Ferry Lodge is a wee gem of a place tucked just off the main road down the West Coast. Driving down the road to the lodge, you can really feel as if you are escaping from the real world in to this haven of peace and tranquility. We were very warmly welcomed by Alison (and the 2 dogs Mick...

We stayed only one night at this gem on the impressive West Coast. Alison & André are very nice and helpful hosts. As a former NZ tour guide André knows all the beautiful places in NZ! He marked them all on our map, so that we wouldn't miss anything on our trip. We highly recommend having dinner at the lodge....

The setting for this relaxing getaway is no doubt beautiful. The Lodge is very spacious and the room we had was well appointed with a very comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom supplied with wonderful products to pamper the skin. From our bedroom, we could sit outside on the deck and enjoy the beautiful West Coast scenery and hear the bird...

Wonderful private cottage, gorgeous comfortable bed and a bonus of two outdoor baths ! We enjoyed the luxury of lying in hot water outside in the wild West Coast weather, sipping lovely bubbly and eating grapes. The view of the forest from where we were bathing was breathtaking. It's not often your host has raised the food you eat, plucks...

If you are driving around New Zealand's South Island, stop for at least one, preferably 2 or 3, nights at the Birds Ferry Lodge. With a view over ancient forests out to the Tasman Sea, it is a glorious setting. Adrian is an experienced South Island guide and Alison is a marvelous chef. We had superb, 3-course, innovative dinners (she...

After a day's driving, Bird's Ferry Lodge was an oasis of peace and quiet. We enjoyed tea and homemade Scottish shortbread served to us as we relaxed on the outside deck, overlooking the hills, with the Tasman sea in the distance. What a great welcome from Alison and Andre! We unwound further in the outdoor hot tub and then my...
