If you want to get away from it all in peacefull settings this is the place. Only 5 rooms available and no tv in your room. The Mokihinui river is the only noise apart from the usual bush sounds. Have a hearty breakfast if you are doing the Old Ghost road trip. If you are into fly fishing and have...

Fantastic place to stay after the Old Ghost Road. Highly recommend. Facilities were very good (including the outdoor shower overlooking the river) and staff were friendly. Great location and atmosphere.

Stayed here for two nights whilst my husband rode the Old Ghost Road with a group of mates. The accommodation and staff are lovely and my husband said it was a very welcome sight after two soaking wet days riding the trail. From here you can walk in to the first hut and back as a day walk. The food...

Had a lovely stay at the Rough & Tumble Lodge after 5 fantastic days hiking the Old Ghost Road. The Lodge was very clean and comfortable and the staff (Cat and Darna) were delightful, down-to-earth, helpful and very hospitable Coaster Kiwis. Nice private environment with bush and river views. It was a pleasure to be there.

After three days mountain biking on the Old Ghost Road, it was the perfect book-end to our trip to stay at Rough and Tumble. The charm of the building (with it's totally screened off protection from sand flies), the friendliness of the capable staff, the free wifi, the well stocked bar and the comfy beds were all wonderful and welcome.

We were heading towards the trek and the rain gave us a break. We had a nice time at the lodge. Staff is very friendly and conditions are more than perfect. Worth visiting indeed. Good starting point for your trek.

Arrived here after two days cycling the Old Ghost Road (it's located right at the Seddonville end of the trail) and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Even though we all arrived covered in mud and dripping wet, the welcome we got was second-to-none. The lodge sits in a superb location, overlooking the river. The rooms are modern and...

Definitely off the beaten track.Very interesting drive to the property. We had booked the evening meal and this was a good idea as there are no nearby restaurants. The dining experience was wonderful. Our host Weazil had produced an excellent casserole and all the guests sat down together at a communal table. It was a very friendly experience. Would highly recommend.
