Perfect stay for a weekend away. Gorgeous views across the vineyard. Very clean rooms. Slightly dated but that didn't phase us. Continental breakfast provided. Owners very welcoming All in all had a lovely time.

We stayed at Thalgara Estate on a recent trip to the Hunter Valley. Staying here proved to be very relaxing and peaceful. The rooms are spacious with a kitchenette, dining and sitting areas. We enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast and watching the world go by. While this is not the most modern hotel, it's simplicity and easy going appeal is... More

This has got to be one of Pokolbin's secrets. Lovely private setting and northerly outlook over vineyard and lake.Very friendly and helpful owners, Sue and Steve, cater to your needs. They provide the best breakfast basket selection in quality and quantity, most generous croissants, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, bread, butter and spreads selection you will find anywhere. Very conveniently located just up the road from Lindeman's. The outside area faces north so that you can sit out the back out of the wind but in the sun...perfect. It's old and a little tired, but extremely clean. The room was warm in the cold winter night. A little more lighting would be of great help however. The breakfast provided for... More

This is a great little property. The owners are lovely - super friendly and very helpful. The cottage was a private, open plan space with its own verandah overlooking the vineyards. There is a little kitchen and the owners provided a complimentary continental breakfast basket which was great. The furnishings are a little worn but it kinda adds to the... More

We have stayed at Thalgara many times. There are 6 units each very private. Open plan there is a fully equipped kitchen, dinning room and bedroom and a bathroom. Your own private patio has views over the vineyards. There are birds, kangaroos and cows in the distance. It is in the heart of the wineries and only 15 minutes from... More

I enjoyed my visit so much I booked another stay for a few weeks later. Great hosts, location, views, privacy, bottle of wine, breakfast basket. Make sure you wake early to see if there are kangaroos on your doorstep or if hot air balloons are floating past your window. I agree with another review - the sofa was tired and... More

We stayed at Thalgara while attending a family wedding. We spent one night with just the two of us, and the next night we shared with my brother, which worked out very economical especially in comparison to the hotel where the wedding was- maybe 1/10th the cost? We had a comfortable cabin with a place to make food and eat... More
