Booked a 1 bedroom apartment for 7 nights using the website. The location is incredible, across from the beach, close to downtown. Parking is secure in each unit’s individually allocated parking garage (not space but garage)! Staff are welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Access to each apartment is via a secure elevator opening right into the individual apartment’s entrance hall! The 3 bedroom apartment is huge! The 2 bedrooms are locked out when booking a 1 bedroom which makes sense. The kitchen was well equipped (plenty of place settings, glasses, etc), the cabinets and drawers clean along with its contents which is always important. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer, drying rack, sink, etc. The welcome pak is limited with dishwasher soap only. The terrace and balcony overlooked the ocean and was nicely equipped with a large table and six chairs. The unit was nicely furnished and the bed was comfortable. The Wi Fi signal was fast and strong.

The shortcomings would be having only 1 hand towel and 1 facecloth with 2 bath towels. Two of each per guest is more desirable. It is evident that the owner of #509 cares about the apartment and upgrades have been completed, furnishings are nice, etc., however the shower needs attention as the mould is ‘very’ undesirable particularly for this level of accommodation. I am confident it is on the ‘to do list’. The apartment was clean for the most part, but attention to detail such as the window ledge in the sitting area, lampshades in the bedroom, and a few other spots need cleaning. We also think the ventilation unit may need a cleaning as we could smell mould initially when turning on the air conditioning for the first couple days. The bed was made with a sheet only which was highly unusual. A clean light blanket would be appreciated and one would think should be standard. There was a blanket and comforter in the closet but one doesn’t know if they are clean(?). With all this said, we would very much consider returning to Sandcastle should we visit Port Macquarie again and we very much enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful time in Port Macquarie these apartments are nothing I have every stayed in before, we stayed one of the 3 bedroom apartments, very spacious everything you need in an apartment, great kitchen facilities, spa bath in the main bathroom, 2 bathrooms, full laundry facilities, the lift takes you directly to your apartment , a lockup garage, ocean views are spectacular.
You pay a little extra but its well worth it, foxtel and wifi includes with a dvd player.
We are already planning our next trip back there.
Thank You for a great experience.

Our 8 day stay at Sandcastles Apartments was, simply put, ‘Fabulous’

Both Danny and Barbara through whom we made our booking were super friendly and efficient. All our pre-stay questions were answered quickly and the check in/walk through were very helpful.

The double lock up garage for our specific apartment was secure, well-lit and spacious …Plenty of room if you plan to bring toys!

The lifts and lobby area were spotless. Precautions are being taken against COVID with only 1 family per apartment permitted to travel in the lift at one time which is reassuring and happily adhered to by others in the building.

The apartment feels secure with lift access taking you directly to your apartment. The fittings and furnishings in the apartment are modern and stylish, clean and in good condition.

Linen was hotel quality, but the bath towels could be bigger!

The kitchen was well stocked with enough pots and pans, bowls, crockery and glassware – all in good clean condition. The dishwasher was super quiet and there were plenty of dishwasher tablets provided. (However, a few complimentary sachets of washing up liquid would have been useful)

The views of the sea could be seen from the moment we walked into our apartment – you can even see the sea when you’re taking a shower! The balcony is a great spot to watch the dolphins and beachgoers with a big table and 6 chairs around which we enjoyed many an afternoon drink and some local crab!

Wi-Fi was strong and consistent within the apartment itself.

So lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the sea... tip, if you leave the main balcony doors open and close the master bedroom balcony doors, you cut out the minimal traffic noise and can still hear the waves

We would definitely come back here in a heartbeat. Thank you again to Danny and Barbara.

The views nice, apartments are furnished well but the management left a very sour taste of my visit there.
There was a miscommunication about washing the dishes. It’s our last day and we left the breakfast plates, cups dishes when we checked out and received an abusive call about how we had left the apartment. I went back and Danny the cleaner was very confrontational about the dishes and angrily explained we have to clean all of the dishes. Apparently there was a sign explaining this in the kitchen which wasn’t in our kitchen, I explained this to him and he said that every serviced apartment requires this however we had just stayed at the observatory up the road and they don’t! Danny then went through the information folder and about 3/4 into the 20 page folder there is a sentence about washing dishes when leaving.
I asked him how much for the cleaners to wash the dishes and he quotes $150 which is ridiculous. I washed the dishes, cups, pans and he inspected every item! He then made personal attacks about my cleanliness all because I didn’t watch the dishes.
Apart from Danny’s aggressiveness there are signs all over the place saying don’t do this and don’t do that. The Observatory up the road is much friendlier, has a pool and has a cafe in the building and nice management/cleaners unlike the Sandcastle.

Apartments are in a great location. The views are excellent. The town beach is just across the street.
Interestingly most things like bars and restaurants are closed Sunday and Monday which is when we visited so be warned.
We had to enter from the rear for parking. which meant we never found the front door.

Apartment 402
It is very clean and spacious. Our balcony had great views.
The bed was very comfortable and we slept well, though it was very humid so needed the aircon on all night which was a blessing.
The toilet has a glass box around it and the bathroom area is not separated from the bedroom except by a blind so privacy is an issue if you don’t want to share toilet habits with your partner. Not having privacy glass on the toilet is disconcerting.
The room is very stark.
Some blue prints in the room would liven up the drab grey and brown, it’s functional but depressing. Not really reflecting the lovely beachfront location and holiday spirit.
Lighting is likewise very stark and institutional so it doesn’t feel particularly inviting at night.
Also due to “covid” you basically have to service the room when you leave. Strip beds, and towels into laundry bags, take the garbage and do all the washing up.
Think making guests deal wth laundry and rubbish a bit much given covid restrictions are finishing this week and the room rate wasn't reduced. Sounds like a great profit boost.
Jenny on reception was very helpful and offered lots of recommendations.
Would probably return for the location and views and now know what it is like can adjust expectations.

We stayed here for four days in March and simply loved every minute. The warm welcome and tour by Barbara set the tone and the apartment on the top floor was outstanding. Three large bedrooms, the main with a spacious ensuite and walk in robe, all had water views and access to balconies. There was a ton of space. The apartment was spotless and came with a double lock up garage and a private lift directly into the apartment. To top everything off the view of Town Beach was amazing.

The two bedroom apartment on the second floor was spotlessly clean but sparsely, cheaply and uncomfortably furnished. The nightly rate was $390, which was high for Port Macquarie but the location was next to the wonderful restaurant ‘Stunned Mullet’ which we were booked in to and our reason for visiting Port Macquarie.
However there was a sheet of instructions in the kitchen telling us we had to strip our beds, place all linen in the large bag provided, and take it to an area in the basement. Also to place all rubbish at the front door. As well we were instructed that we had to wash the crockery and cutlery or we could be charged an extra $90 on our CC.
I consider it outrageous to have to do those chores when paying such a high rate and to be threatened with an additional charge if we didn’t.

It was so great to be able to walk outside, cross the road and be right on the best beach! We stayed for a blissful week and had a spotless 4th floor apartment and loved waking up to a sea view and sitting on our balcony watching the ocean and beach-goers! There are walking tracks right out the door too; to the shops or along the coast with magnificent views. We were so lucky to have perfect weather and the surf was ideal all week.

We had everything we could possibly need in the kitchen to prepare meals as required. The bed and furniture is all very comfortable and well maintained. The open plan bathroom requires some getting used to but we soon adapted to that. Most days we enjoyed breakfast in the tasty, fresh cafe on the beach, with other eateries in walking distance along the road and a very nice restaurant downstairs, well worth booking a table there. There is a level of traffic noise that can be resolved by closing off the sliding glass doors - the view remains, so, like the bathroom it can be managed and certainly didn't spoil our happy holiday.

I had the pleasure of staying here as a result of being a "displaced person" due to COVID. I stayed in a 2 bedroom 4th floor pristine apartment, which could have been 3 b/room if required .Very well appointed Kitchen, spacious, fresh living areas with phenomenal views.During the winter months the sunny balcony was an absolute pleasure . I had uninterrupted views being located on the more western end of the complex. East Port club is at your back door, conveniently close with an affordable restaurant.Other restaurants and shops are a quick 20 mins stroll into town . The beautiful coastal walking trails are on offer, with a flat trail if you turn left or a hilly option if you choose to turn right. I happily recommend to family and friends.

Our Apartment was on the 6th Floor and had private Lift access. The Master Bedroom was self-contained and had a king bed, full Bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. The second Bedroom had a queen bed and a Bathroom. Both had balcony access. There was a separate walk-in Laundry with tub, washer and drier. There was a third bedroom which we did not use. The Kitchen was very well laid out and had everything we needed. The Lounge/Dining Room was well laid out and had double sliding doors opening on to a large balcony. Both balconies had ocean beach/coast outlooks. It was truly lovely.
