We have just spent an idyllic 5 nights at this beautiful heritage listed home. Our party of 16 mainly cyclists from the mainland booked out the entire place including the kitchen and dining room for our exclusive use. The owners took a leap of faith entrusting us with their beloved lodgings and we were able to plan our week perfectly. We rode different routes every day average distance 60 clicks All bikes were stored safely in a lock up garage overnight We walked to a couple of restaurants , swam in the pool 100 metres down High St, walked the gorge to Duck Reach ,swam in the gorge and devoured the lunches served up fresh each day at Cuccina Milkbar with coffee on tap from 7.30 every morning All the rooms at Windarra had ensuites and were a great size. Would go back in a heartbeat

This is one beautiful home, and I would love to be able to go back in time to see it overlooking Launceston in 1876 when it was built!
We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor which was large and very well equipped. The continental breakfast in the dining room was a great start to the day and there were lovely views of Autumn colour on show. As long as you’re fit it’s a “steep” 10 minute walk into the city which meant we didn’t need to use our car at all. Richard and Alison were lovely hosts however on the day we left, the property was being sold to new owners!

We had four nights at this very lovely b and b. The house is beautiful and spacious, well-maintained and meticulously clean. Our room was very generous in size, light and nicely decorated. Breakfasts were continental, healthy and plentiful. During booking, Susanna was most helpful in meeting our special requests and each morning we were greeted by Gordon who was a delightful host. The house is well-located for the CBD, day trips and local cafes and restaurants. It is also in a beautiful suburb filled with stunning homes. It was a treat to stay there.

Having read the other reviews which have all been extremely positive and hence the reason we booked here for three nights, we feel a little out of place not giving it another great review, but this is what we feel needs to be said about Windarra on High.
1. They say there is free parking, there is but only for 3 hrs between 09.00 and 17.00 out front in the street, not on the premises.
2. Breakfast while continental is adequate, surely an option for a cooked breakfast at extra cost could be made available as is the case at all the other B&B's we stayed at during our three week trip around Tasmania.
3. Small things like a box of tissues in the room, a manifest/folder giving local information, emergency numbers, restaurants etc with contact numbers would have been an advantage.
4. The shower taps in our room were the wrong way around, whilst they were labeled as such (small H and C on the tap handles) it would have been nice to be told this when we booked in, as once I removed my glasses I was unable to read them.
5. In room tea and coffee supplies were not topped up whilst we were there.
We know this sounds like a whinge but it is the extra little things that were included during your stay you remember fondly and make you inclined to recommend staying here.

Windarra on high is a beautiful building when you drive up and our room was lovey with some nice decoration but there is quite a few shortfalls like very little storage apart from a hanging rack in the kitchenette and cupboards under the tv . The bathroom had no storage apart from a mirror cupboard that felt like it could break so best not to touch it . There was no cooling and only a bar heater for heat , the shower was so small and the kitchenette was very basic no coffee maker only instant and selection of teabags . Unfortunately our room had not been made up either we had to ask . The parking is on the street and has limited parking during the day ( time restricted ) . The dining room was beautiful and in keeping with the era of the house but the breakfast was very basic and in a very short time span between 8-8.30 . We could not possibly recommend for anyone to stay so unfortunate for such a beautiful building.

We stayed for two nights in this beautiful house. Very comfortable bed, well appointed and supplied room. Hosts Susanna and Gordon are welcoming and friendly with a knack for casual conversation. They are great ambassadors for Launceston, giving handy tips for exploring the area. The breakfast is delicious with good variety, and is a chance to engage with other guests.
Highly recommend this chance to stay in a charming and historic property. We'll be back!

We stayed here on a last minute booking over the March long weekend.
We are so glad we did.
Susie and Gordon were warm and friendly hosts, who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.
We stayed in ‘the residence’ with our two teenage children. It has a lovely new bathroom, a kitchen and a barbecue outside in the patio area.
This is where we cooked dinner each night.
We also took advantage of the included Continental breakfast each morning.
We would highly recommend this B&B and would like to stay here next time we are in Launceston.
Thank you Susie and Gordon! 😊

Windarra on high was a perfect B&B. Had the room upstairs. Lovely tables outside where we could have our takeaway dinner. Close to shops, parks and cafes. Suzanna was very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. Would Definately visit again.
