Good location and not bad for what you pay. The room was a good size, only a shower curtain on the shower. WC had a door. There is a comon room to make tea and coffee. It was very quiet, no noise from the pup below. Good location.

This is place is just amazing! I couldn't praise it highly enough. The staff absolutely stood out for me as the best staff ever that provided top notch service. I wonder why there's very little review about this place.

I was looking for an affordable place to stay for a night before I started my 6 days hiking trip at the Overland Track and this place matched everything that I was looking for. Price was good and its location totally won me over. But there's not many review about it hence I was very very skeptical at first when I arrived. The place looked kinda shabby but please do NOT let that deceive you. Price and looks were not everything. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's bad. There’s nothing flashy either (it’s not a 5 star after all) but all facilities were adequate to make a comfortable stay. I stayed at TRC hotel for 1 night and 2 nights at TRC lodge when I was back from my Overland Track hike.

Both of my stay was just perfect! I think I had met the majority of their staff during my stay (Matt, Kelsie, Katrina, Heath, Shannon and Sandy....you guys are AMAZING!) and they really made it all perfect and it's them who deserve all the credits!

So I’m gonna put everything in dot points for TRC hotel and TRC lodge cos they are separate premises:

TRC Hotel:

- Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Nothing was ever a bother for them. I couldn’t praise them highly enough, esp Matt. He helped me a lot from day 1.
- I stayed in room 1 with private ensuite and tv. It was clean, spacious enough and had a great view right towards King's Park and Tamar River. It's true the room, shower, furnitures and everything was dated and the beds creaked when I moved but I was ok with all of these and they were still functional. In fact I had the BEST sleep ever. The shower was good with good flow of hot water. There’s a communal room and shower/toilet as well for those who stay at shared rooms.
- The hotel is a quiet place to stay. Its location is at main street and there’s a sportsbar downstairs and lots of kenos game machines but it’s by no means noisy or rowdy. Most of the patrons I saw were very well behaved. The place was pretty quiet and calm. They have a policy for all patrons to behave appropriately and stay quiet at night time
- There’s no lobby and the check in and check out are all done through the bar counter
- I was so glad to find that they have washing machine and dryer (room 8) and they were FREE! This was the first time ever I found a place that doesn’t charge you for laundry. What a treat! Kelsie was very kind in showing me how to use the dryer 
- Location is just perfect. 15mins walk to Cataract Gorge, city centre. art gallery, city parks, Tamar River. There’s a convenience store just next door and ample of parking
- You could have meals at the bar downstairs…but I didn’t eat there so can’t comment but they looked good
- No internet
- So overall a very good comfortable budget accommodation.

TRC Lodge:

- An upgrade from TRC Hotel and is in better and more modern conditions but without big price tag. It’s on different premise on the other side of the other street separated by the car park. The upgrade was just what I needed after spending 6 days in total wilderness. The lodge is a 2 storey big house that has a secure code to get in
- I stayed at double room with ensuite and it was AMAZING!!!! Clean, spacious, great deco, the bed and pillows were so so comfy and the shower was great with plenty of hot water. There's tv, air conditioner/heater...amazing! Again, I slept so well like a baby
- Just like TRC Hotel, the place was very quiet and peaceful. No noise problem at all
- The whole lodge was clean, quiet and safe. There’s shared kitchen complete with all the crockeries and cutleries, shared dining room and living room (downstairs and upstairs) with big tv and some great channels
- BEWARE there’s a washing machine but NO dryer in TRC Lodge. So if you want to do laundry, you have to do it at TRC Hotel which means you have to go back and forth across the car park checking your laundry. The washing machine is not even convenient to use cos it’s located outside and you need the key from the staff to open the door. I found this quite hard to believe cos the lodge was more expensive and supposed to be an upgrade and yet the hotel has a dryer but not the lodge??? So this was my only criticism.
- Again no internet

Overall I think this place was really good despite the little inconvenience with the laundry at TRC Lodge.

So COME STAY HERE!

TRC Hotel Launceston

- Had to hand over personal details that were handwritten (including credit card information) without any sense of security/privacy

- No way to get luggage upstairs. The exit leading to the carpark had very steep stairs and the access keys given didn't allow you to come in through that entrance (only exit)

- Bed itself was comfortable, but sheets - no fitted sheet, only a flat that kept coming loose, quilt/doona had no cover on it and was very itchy, one sheet had a hole and stain.

- Was told at the time of booking that it was a room with a shared bathroom and that this was to be shared between two rooms. The room we were given had an "ensuite" of a shower (in the room, no separation whatsoever) and a basin in the room. This shower had severe drainage issues and almost spilled over the edge on to the carpet of the room (as again - no separation between the areas, merely a hole in the wall for the shower).
This ensuite did not have a toilet, so we had to use the shared bathroom (not specifically complaining as were advised of sharing a bathroom in advance). Discovered a bathroom with separate shower, bath, and toilet which was for Ladies, and the same set up for Gents down the hall, only to realise these shared bathrooms were not to be shared between two rooms butamongst the whole floor.

- No aircon/ducted heating/cooling in the room (that's ok, they provided a pedestal fan and mini heater if needed) but still had to endure very loud sounds of an airconditioning system all through the night.
Also had a window that was unable to be closed and subsequently had lots of street noises and brought on a cool breeze that was not able to be blocked.

- Missing a lot of basics such as no tissues.
- Tried to use kettle in common room for a cup of tea. Majority of cups/glasses were dirty. Was unable to use kettle as it was empty and there was nowhere to refill it (without going all the way back to my room at the other end of the building which also violates the very strict "do not remove appliances from lounge" notice)

Pros:
You get what you pay for. Comfortable and (mostly) clean room in a convenient location.
Free onsite parking and free wifi (that actually works!!!)

I’ve stayed in many cheap hotels. I recall several in war zones that provided a higher standard of hygiene, cleanliness and comfort. I should have realised when I saw the urinal mats used as air fresheners in the common areas. Or maybe the poo in our loo when we arrived. On the other hand the staff are friendly but this place can’t be rescued.

Called in for a few drinks after dinner on Monday night just after 9. Bar man tells us that we're lucky as he's about to close in 20 minutes, "no joking". We are the only people in the place, "no joking". We ask if we can have a drink before he closes? He says yes, but would we mind ordering them all at the same time, not individually? "No joking". We order beers, and a soda and lime. He says, "lemon, lime and soda?" No, a soda with lime. He replies, "lemon, lime and bitters?" No, some soda water with real lime juice. He says, "sorry, I wasn't trying to be smart, but sometimes people say they want one thing, but mean something else".
We go to the other end of the bar, as that is where he's pouring the drinks. Surprise, surprise, there are people sitting out the back. Then a mate comes along and doesn't get a story, just gets a beer poured for him. Then one of the people from outside comes in and starts having a chat with him.
Hence, we finished our drinks and left. Never to return again. I'm sure that there a other bars in town who have staff who have some customer interaction and are glad to see customers arrive.

I spent three nights there.
Good location to the main street of the town, very close to the art galley and the royal park. I was very satisfied with the staff, professional and nice. The room is safe and very tidy. Worth the money!

Was here in town for 3 days and came across the TRC and the meals were fantastic, very well cooked to my liking and would recommend to eat here to anybody. The staff were very friendly on our first visit, and remembered us on the second night we came in and were very friendly the whole time and catered to out needs. So if your after and great steak or even fish and chips the TRC this the place to go!

Walking past called in to be warmly welcomed. Enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar and the friendly service by the bar staff. Decided to grab a meal. Checked out the more up market restaurant but decided to enjoy the bar and ordered a bar meal. Glad we did. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the crumbled scallops and I loved my chicken schnitzel with garlic prawns. The accompanying beer battered chips and salad were superb. Highly recommend this pub and will definately return when in Launceston

Had a school reunion so this place was centrally located, great value for money. The only down side was that the power points in the upstairs ensuite did not work and one of our friends that stayed in the front bedroom woke to find ants in her bed (we were told that the place had been sprayed but the humidity brought the ants back). We would stay there again

I was on a budget and needed 1 night accomodation in Launceston. I booked the single room with ensuite online. The staff were nice, the room was dated but clean, there was wifi. It was a saturday night and the noise from the pub downstairs didnt carry through which was a plus. There was a common room with a fridge and kettle. It was quite a hot night i wish there was air con, but it was a buget room, i wouldnt expect that for the cheap price. For only $60 i have no complaints, good value. Thanks!
