Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I spent a few hours here one night for a random hook up. To say I was impressed is an understatement. The bed didn't squeak which was a plus, although the TV was in an awkward position, we were too busy to actually watch it anyway. There was also such a romantic red glow to the room coming from outside the window, with the beautiful views overlooking KFC. I also loved how close the toilets are to the room, although there was no toilet in the room, there was a sink at perfect height (if you know what I'm saying). The experience was overall a 7/4 and the guy wasn't too bad either. Will definitely be back to do it again. Very accommodating for what I needed.

We stayed here as a family of five in a Family Room with private ensuite. We checked in 15 minutes early but the lady was happy to give us the keys to the room. The accommodation is upstairs on top of a pub/pokies. There is no lift so you have to walk up two flights of stairs and carry your luggage. Our room was very spacious with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the main living area. There was a private ensuite separating the queen bed room which was perfect for my parents. The room had basic furniture, a TV, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. My son loved having a bubble bath as we only have a shower at home. The room was clean and the wide windows around the room made a good view of the outside which my son could look out of. Our room was situated next door to the communal kitchen and opposite to the shared bathroom which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance to a shopping plaza, restaurants, a KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coles and Woolworths. The only negative was that our room was situated along a busy main road and at night you could hear all the traffic passing by so we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Also our booking via booking.com said we would get two free welcome drinks for two guests upon arrival but we didn’t get that. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay at Mowbray Hotel and would consider staying here again.

Clean, tidy, and surprisingly spacious. Polite staff, late check in, clean rooms, lots of coffee and tea etc For us it was ideal as we needed a 1 night stop over before travelling on. Close to coles and fast food restaurants in the area as well.

I stayed 10/11/20 in my old home town of Launceston. (Direct flights BNE-LST daily). Mowbray Hotel is budget style modern a/c rooms, free parking and light b/fast facilities in room. A great location handy to Coles and Woolies a 5min walk, takeaway food outlets in the main street. I loved the in huge meals lounge with table service at budget prices. Affordable, clean tidy place to stay for singles or families 2kms from CBD. Highly recommended 10/10.

I’m not happy with my experience here, it was hard to sleep as we were put in a room with a noisy machine of some sort right at our window and would make a loud noise around every 40 seconds all night long! Also the loud cars and bright lights.. on top of that we felt ripped off in the dining room, I asked to have veg with my steak and was told the veg would be an extra $8...I don’t see why the extra expense! Isn’t veg in a pub standard? Was also going to get prawns on steak but was another $8, so would have turned out to be an extremely pricey meal.! Then the kids menu states kids meal come with a free soft drink AND ice cream.. but the waiter told us to pick one..? I pointed this out to the waiter to which they said they need to fix the menu and then agreed to both for free. Food wasn’t nice at all, salad came in a little bowl drowned in French dressing.

Hi Tammy, I'm disappointed to hear you didn't enjoy your stay with us and I would love to get some more information from you so we can look into the issue regarding noise in our rooms. Would you mind letting us know the date you stayed with us and the name you were booked under? In regards to our menu, since we have re-opened after being shut down due to the covid crisis, lots of changes have been happening within our pub. We now have a set menu to follow that all meals are served with chips and salad unless stated otherwise with an option to add an extra bowl of veggies for $7. Sorry about the confusion with the kids icecream and kids soft drink as it was our prior policy to only offer one or the other, however, you are correct and under our current menu both are included with a kids meal. We take all reviews seriously and hope to rectify some of the issues you have brought to our attention. Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! Kindest regards, Leah

Overall poor experience and won’t be returning. The staff didn’t seem to communicate to each other. Our entree’s were brought out after our mains after we had been told once they weren’t put through. We had asked for water for the table which was never brought out. As for vegetarians there is nothing on the menu here so don’t bother going if you have any dietary requirements. When asked what they had on the main menu for vegetarians I was told a caesar salad which has bacon in it! The menu needs an update and I suggest having 1 waitress to 1 table rather than having 3 waitresses to 1 table which is clearly too much for them and causes confusion.

I should've checked better before jumping on a great price offer on boking.com. The building is located at a very busy junction, motors, heavy vehicles, street lights signals is an unvearable mixture of nouses you'll hear pretty much the whole night. If a ved is everything you're looking for, go for backpackers.

We took a friend out for lunch. My wife and I had Crumbed Scallops one with salad and mine was with vegies. Four big, beautifully crumbed scallops. Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion and salad dressing and tartare sauce. Mine had vegies, mashed and solid potato, peas, sweat corn, carrots, the list goes on. The four large scallops were beautifully cooked and tasted delicious. The golden crumbing of the scallops was delicious and beautifully cooked. The tartare sauce with tomato sauce was magnificent. A lovely tasty, beautifully cooked and filling main course. Thanks Chef great job.

This is an Irish Stew! Not the splodge put up on Sunday night, there was no flavor, no color and no jus, and no potato mash until queried with the waitress? Meals are generally of a high standard, however, I was totally disappointed on this occasion. 😢

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review upon your last visit with us. This is very disappointing to hear that the Irish stew special we had on was not to standard because it being so popular when the chef puts this as one of our specials on previous occasions. I will personally take your suggestion about the mash to the Head Chef. We hope when you do visit again and that the standard will be as high quality that you are use to from the Mowbray Hotel. Once again thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we hope we see you again very soon. Kind regards
