In a quiet and peaceful setting, Ara Roa was more than we expected. The accomodation was first class with views from every room and a huge balcony to sit, eat and drink and just wonder at the rolling green hills to the ocean. I still dream about the absolute tranquility!

Amazing property, the photos don't do the view justice. we stayed 3 nights enjoying the quite seclusion. the drive in from Whangarie is quite gorgeous. Be prepared just to relax and listen to the sounds of nothing but cattle in the distance. The only downside to the property is that it is about 30 mins east of Whangarie, which generally... More

Stayed at the Cliffhouse for three of the best and most relaxing nights ever! Drove up from Auckland on a dreary, wet and windy September 28th. Thankfully, weather brightened up for the next two days! Awesome view! Didn't really want to leave the place...ended up doing a short walk to the rockies...damn those stairs. Good challenge indeed! We were also... More

My husband and I had the pleasure of a one night stay at the Guest House recently. It is secluded, and peaceful, with outstanding views from One Tree Point and Marsden Point,to Ngunguru, the Pacific Ocean the Poor Knights Islands and Taiharuru etc. The accommodation is superb with a large sunny deck with BBQ which would be terrific on sunny... Stupendous is one word that comes to my mind when I try to describe this property. The Cliff house is architecturally placed to maximise cliff top position with expansive Pacific ocean views. We spent a great family weekend together, in early April. It was so comfortable inside that we left only once to visit white sand Ocean beach just 12... More

Wow! We had 2 nights at this little gem for our mini-honeymoon. We stayed at the Guest House. Spectacular. Views, location, tranquility, comfort, furnishing, etc. great spot for exploring the surrounds but also equally great to stay there and soak up the atmosphere. We pre-ordered dinner the first night and it was fantastic - tasty, large portions, and easy to... More

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Guest House for 2 months when I first moved to Whangarei. It is easily, hands down, the most beautiful place I have ever had the pleasure of staying. I am currently typing this review sat on the decking, bathed in the sun, hidden amongst native bush with the most SPECTACULAR view... More

The reviews say it all for this place (Cliff House), it's simply amazing. We could not fault a single thing. We were a group of five adults and there was plenty of space, you could easily fit another two adults very comfortably...more if you want to squeeze a few more in. All you need to think about is food before... More

I was fortunate enough to be recommended to this place. I shared it with great friends of mine. I was astounded when I walked in to the Ara Road Guest House at just how well it was appointed. You could have been mistaken for staying in a 5 star luxury hotel, right down to the lovely linen bath robes that... More
