I loved my stay at the Retiro Park Lodge. Robert was such a joy to chat with and always went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. I ate at Victor's restaurant, as well, Cafe Max. The food was to die for. The breakfast in the gorgeous Garden Room was unforgettable. The room (The Barn) was spacious, clean...

We had planned a very busy trip in New Zealand with lots of moving around, lots of driving and from the web site it looked like Retiro Park Lodge would be a good place to stop and relax for a few days. We were right... Robbert and Victor were great hosts and the property is spectacular and in fact proved...

We travel a lot and to many nice and luxury places, however Retiro Park Lodge comes up as one of our absolutely most memorable and lovely place to stay at. We had to extend our stay, we have never experienced such a wonderful breakfast (and we love breakfasts) in such a beautiful setting. Our hosts, Robert and Victor has a...

Perfect quiet rural location, lovely hosts who cooked a delicious breakfast each morning and served in the conservatory. Some challenging hiking trails to take us further into the countryside with spectacular views whilst enjoying the company of the miniature horses, alpacas, donkeys, llamas and, of course, the cheeky ducks and chooks. Accommodation is spacious, comfortable and complete with all facilities...

We had a wonderful time at Retiro Lodge and wished that we could have stayed longer. Our room was huge and beautifully furnished and the gardens are enchanting. Robert and Victor have a restaurant in town which was well worth a visit, and we would highly recommend. Our stay at Retiro was one of the highlights of our trip, thank...

Definitely stay here. It is the most beautiful house with flower filled gardens, vineyard and a great walking track with stunning views of the Nelson scenery. I felt at home with the very welcoming hosts - I could have stayed for another week, read books by the pool and never left the grounds. It is just enough distance out of...

This was our second visit and we enjoyed it as much as the first. The hosts, Robbert and Victor, make the stay all the more enjoyable notwithstanding the superb peace and harmony of the property. While Victor is no longer available to cook the great meals on site, he has opened a tremendous Spanish restaurant downtown Nelson which is excellent...

Very attentive and entertaining hosts who you feel are almost old friends by the time you leave. A morning walk across their large farm to say "Hi" to the alpacas and llamas followed by a fab breakfast served in the beautiful conservatory. Not too far away from Nelson to enjoy all of its great restaurants and shops and then a...

Retiro Park Lodge offers friendly, personalyzed, memorable accommodation in an oasis of quiet country luxury: Surrounded by an extensive garden, in a 90-acre park-like property, nestled amongst hills and sitting along the river in beautiful Teal Valley, but minutes away from Nelson City’s bustle. The property rears Llamas and Alpacas that roam freely in the paddocks surrounding the lodge and also has its own producing vineyard, olive and almond groves. Our Bed and Breakfast is a destination on its own and the perfect base to explore the region’s most sought after attractions: it is within easy reach for day excursions from “The Abel Tasman”, “Kahurangi” and “Nelson Lakes” National Parks and “The Marlborough Sounds” and its wine growing region. ... more   less
