Absolutely fabulous, this charming villa provides everything you can possibly need, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, huge comfy bed, and a shower that just melted away all of life's stress, and on a cold night it was cosy and warm. Sue, our hostess couldn't have been more lovely, she obviously cares a great deal for her guests enjoyment and is incredibly good at what she does. The breakfast was a delight, as it was cold we were welcomed into her house and served beautiful homemade bread and preserves, cereal, fresh fruit and Yoghurt. We were thrilled with every aspect of our stay and would definitely recommend.
Stayed one night for a romantic Bed and Breakfast experience and we were not disappointed. The views from the rooms overlook Russell and the Bay towards Paihia with a lovely verandah set up for tea/coffee & Breakfasts. Sue was the perfect host. Friendly, knowledgeable without being over attentive, she understands the hospitality business very well. The room was well set out with King sized bed and large ensuite bathroom and insect screens on all the windows. This last detail was important as we were able to sleep with the bedroom windows open listening to the Kiwi in the bush nearby. Breakfast was delivered when we were ready for it and consisted of quality fruits, and Muesli with home made yoghurt which complimented it well, followed by tea & toast with home made condiments. Unfortunately in the morning we were effectively locked in by a very rare Tsunami evacuation but Sue was great and even made us lunch when it was apparent that we could not leave Russell until around 2pm. One last thing to mention Sue matched the Booking.com price so give her a ring first before booking with an overseas company.…
This was our last stay in a 5 week tour of NZ. We had some wonderful B&Bs, but this was the best. Good size bedroom with with the magnificent panorama of the bay, a wooden walkway outside bedrooms for breakfast (& the evening glass of wine) listening to and seeing the birdlife. Excellent facilities available for snacks and wine storage. Sue and Stephen are attentive and informative hosts and if you get the chance to take a days sailing in their yacht, Kingfisher, then take it. The weather was very good for us but presented a problem for our hosts as they had not had rain for months causing a severe water shortage. However that was managed in a friendly and cooperative way. You could spend the whole time without using your car. There are many good restaurants, beaches and hills. There is a regular ferry to Pahia and many more places to visit.…
We loved our stay here in a private room with private bathroom with an amazing view and breakfast! We didn’t need to drive for two days as everything was within walking distance that we needed. Beautiful quiet spot with lovely hosts! Would recommend to anyone to stay here and enjoy! If you aren’t good with walking though, you would just drive to the beach or town. There is stairs as well to get up to the room. Breakfast was fresh coffee and orange juice, a platter of fruit with cereal and yogurt. Toast and homemade jams. 🌴😁
...For much less. Steven and Susan could not have been more welcoming. Our room was large and comfortable. (Susan: put a floor lamp in the corner). Breakfast was delightful. But the view over the harbour was simply amazing. Probably our best B&B experience in NZ among some great ones.
Excellent location with amazing views over the bay in Russell. Only a short walk to restaurants. The hosts are so friendly and helpful with suggestions of how to see the best of the area. The breakfasts were lovely with fresh fruit and toast. Would totally recommend here rather than a hotel. Hope to return one day.
We stayed 4 nights. Sue and Steven are very hospitable and generous. Clean room. The deck has a beautyfull bayview. A good place to see the fireworks at New years eve. We had breakfast at the sunny deck with fresh fruits and home made yogurt and fresh bread. We had a relaxing sealing day with Steven. It wasn’t necessary to do the dishes, Sue did!
My daughter and myself spent a magical couple of days in Villa Russell. Our room and en-suite was luxurious with extra little touches that made it and us feel very special. Breakfast on the balcony with spectacular views was first class. A short stroll into the beautiful town of Russell with an abundance of bars and excellent restaurants. We will be back. Thank you Sue and Stephen for making us feel so welcome.
Thank you Sue and Stephen for a wonderful, relaxing time at Villa Russell. Too short, of course, but accommodation, breakfast, location and weather were all of a very high standard and perfect for a mid-winter break. Location just a few minutes walk from the village is ideal and we enjoyed local restaurants and exploring Russell and environs on foot. We will highly recommend to others and hope to be back again.
Thank you Sue and Stephen for your fantastic hospitality, we really appreciated everything you did for us to make our stay so great. Breakfast on the balcony overlooking Russell was perfect! We really appreciated meeting your friends and your offer to join in for drinks, and to hear of your upcoming adventures together. Thank you again so much.. Trish & John
