The Kalypso hotel is redommendable for its locatoin. It's located on its own shore, has an own cliff bay for bathing and the view is stunning. And it's really quiet.
There is a walking path and you are within 25 minutes at another gravel beach. For 8 Euros you can go by taxi to Plakias city for shopping or for the sandy beach or taverns. At the hotel itsself there is only a small mini-market for daily goods like water and toothpaste.
At the reception you can book trips to Santorini, Samaria, Chania and many more or you can rent a car.

The open areas and the bungalows with 2 appartements each are furnished nicely and the cleaning was okay. The room maids did a good job and gave us toilet paper even on days we didn't want to be disturbed. I liked the canopy beds in the room. What I didn't like was the mold in the room. That's often the case in Greece and Spain, even within 4 star hotels. You don't want to air the room because of the 36 degrees outside and so the humidity stays in the room and mold grows.
The air conditioning worked perfectly, which is essential in August.
Three pools (two of them in cool infinity-style) and the bay are space enough for the hotel guests. It's nice to snorkel because of the fishes and you can learn scuba diving.

The food (buffet in the morning and evening, greek dishes, HP or AI) were delicious and the staff very friendly. The cocktails at the pool bar tasted awful.
The guests were very mixed (spanish, greek, french, germans, polish, british,..).

The reception is open 24 hours and the lady with the golden glasses was so nice. She showed us everything and was very helpful.

We have visited this hotel a few weeks ago. Nice location, brilliant blue sea but windy in August. (about 100 minutes transfer from the Airport by bus). Reception OK but the hotel was very short of staff so you had to be patient to be served (same true to restaurant and bar as well). The staff is very friendly and the food is very very good!
Cleaners are overworked and some rooms were bit oldish (needs refurbishment).
The beach is rocky and it is very good for scuba diving and snorkeling. If you prefer sandy beach there is a coastal path leading to the next village where you can find nice sandy beach and tavernas with authentic food and happy/nice local people. It takes only 15 - 20 minutes on foot to get there but may be difficult with small kids!!
Still you can order taxi at the reception and it is cheap and they operate on fixed price base.
The Hotel has 3 pools and they are more than OK (saltwater though).
No daytime animation due to staff shortage. There were nightime activities (disco) but with the same tired staff so they did not last long...
At the reception you can arrange programmes and excursions and they are cheaper than preordered programmes by the travel agencies.
A drafr beer is around 3 euros (0.4 L) in bars, a can is around 2 euros, in shops, a coctail is around 5-7 euros. Main course is around 12 - 14 euros and it is delicious.
Alltogether quite good quality for money but in near future this resort needs some serious uplift.

Called in for one night on a Cretan roadtrip .Arrived in evening rain and mist and woke up to an incredible location
Its like a cross between the Thunderbirds house and a Bond location.
The twin room was keenly priced and the whole place has seen better days but its still remarkable bang for your euro .
Cant comment on value for package clients but i couldnt fault it for our visit . Our price included a buffet style breakfast with hot english type stuff available
It looks like its slowly getting a spruce up as the pool area is lovely .Its own private sea lagoon is very cool too

There are a lot of mixed reviews for this hotel, so I was curious to check it out. You can't call it a 4 star spa resort because that is giving high expectations of what it really is. It probably was when it was first built. The rooms are very spacious and we had a huge balcony over looking the sea. I like the classic design. Each room has been fitted out with a new big slimline TV and the air conditioning works great at no extra charge. The shower has good water pressure. The rooms are designed so it's very peaceful at night. People have to understand that since covid raged the world, a lot have things have changed, including room cleaning services. Yes they will clean your bathroom every day and make the bed, but not give you clean sheets and towels. In my opinion you don't need. I asked for clean towels on the 3rd day and they brought them straight away. For the price of this place it's very good service. Due to covid they are only using the main big pool, which is huge with reaching views over the sea. I think it's worth getting all inclusive just so you have drinks all day by the pool. The food is good quality and caters for all tastes. Never 2 days are the same. The private beach was not my thing and so took the car 10 minutes "down" the road to a big sandy beach.
Lots of good day trips to keep anyone satisfied but you need a car, cause its in the middle of nowhere.
The WiFi is something they have to invest in as it is non existant, only on your balcony and by the pool. In this day and age that's a no no.
The hotel staff are all friendly and helpful.
Would I come here again? Yes I would it's so relaxing and I believe that things will start to improve again to top quality when we get rid of covid.
As a PS, I would like the mattress to be softer because i hurt my back sleeping for 6 nights.

Pretending to be something it’s not. The rooms are adequate but the bathrooms are dirty, unkempt, broken and tired. The rooms have an integral kitchenette with absolutely nothing in the cupboards, not even a single glass.

The 1 swimming pool ( there is a second part to it indoors) is saltwater and provides no shade, there are a few umbrellas but all are taken very quickly.

The food is buffet only and of extremely poor quality, temperature and presentation. The restaurant again has no shade and as the buffet is of course self service the only other comment is the extremely expensive drinks with a very limited choice, all of poor quality.

The only bar is hosted by an Ibitha DJ wannabe playing tracks at around 110decibels to a sparse audience of friends trying to chat and families retreating to their rooms.

There is a Wi-Fi signal but it’s not connected to the internet

Overall, this establishment may have been nice once but now it’s a disgrace.

We all know 2020 has been an extremely challenging time for all around the world, especially in the tourism industry. I have visited this hotel 8 years in a row now and each year it continues to amaze me. Its in a beautiful remote area with gorgeous scenery. The perfect gateway for a relaxed holiday. The staff are all very friendly and eager to help. Having expectations was challenging due to Covid, but despite this, the service received was brilliant. The food continues to be exceptional with the proper measures in place of dishes being freshly prepared and handed to the customer. The buffet is a bit more limited but there remains plenty of choice and staff serve you your meal which helps you feel safe. Other precautions have also been put in place with staff wearing masks, hand sanitiser being available throughout the hotel and protective screens being up at bars, reception etc. I was sad to see that not all pools could operate this year but given the circumstances this is understandable. Some of the rooms have recently been renovated and are a beautiful mixture of white and green, leaving an aura of traditional cretan village vibe. Rooms are very clean and have new flat screen TV's! WiFi is available around the pool, restaurant and reception. If youre lucky like I was, you might be given a room by reception and therefore be able to use the WiFi! Cannot wait to see what this hotel can offer me next year despite this year's challenges. Will continue to return. Supporting local tourism 💙

Our stay started with a 2 hour checkin delay with no sort of compensation and a receptionist who didn’t make the wait much better. We used the time to grab some lunch at the hotels single restaurant (not two as claimed in the description) where we were met by a heavily overpriced buffet, consisting of the most disappointing dishes.

A car is much needes as the hotel is located in the outskirts of Plakias (app. 10 minutes drive). Unfortunately the “free parking” spots are not reserved for guests of the hotel and are already occupied before noon by people visiting the not so “private beach”. The beach has sun beds which can be rented for 10 euros, but these are (aswell) not reserved for hotel guests.

There was only one swimming pool (not 3 as in description) which was not maintained properly. The spa and fitness areas were closed and appeared desolated, as well as the (former) pool bar. In combination with the generally bad maintained hotel, it sometimes seemed like a ghost hotel.

Breakfast was included but was really, really disappointing and it felt like all the ingredients were of the lowest quality possible, including coffee and juice.

There was no daily room service - you had to order it a day beforehand. We ordered room service mid week but they never came, resulting in not a single room service our entire stay!

The only positive things to say about the stay, was a great view and a well functioning a/c.

Bottom line: Not even close to being a 4-star hotel! False marketing!

Where do I even start.
This place looks very nice from the outside and in photos.
When we first arrived in our room we were greet by a sewage stink like a slap in the face. Apparently it’s a thing in every room. The toilets are AWFUL. There is no other words to describe it. Its something out of a horror film.
Speaking of toilets, the roof of the restaurant toilet fell down one day during our stay.
The towels are only changed every 3 days which is absurd, you also don’t get a free pool towel, you’ve got to buy or rent one for £4 per week (from the local shop which opens at strange times)
There is no water in the room, or even glasses, if you want a bottle of water you’ve got to buy it. Make sure you bring water because we arrived at 1:30am super thirsty and tired from the transfer and there was no water..!!!
There was a greasy hand print on the headboard above our bed when we arrived and never got cleaned. Was probably there since the 60’s.
Also there was 2 pillows with no pillow cases all week 🤢
The floor at the pool area seemed very dirty too, probably only gets cleaned once a week.
The smaller pools look SO dirty I daren’t go in.
The sun loungers are in poor condition, a lot of them are broken.
Also the pool WC smells SO SO SO bad!!!!

There is NO entertainment every night, on Sunday they do a Greek dance which is very slow paced and people were going to bed fast, and belly dance on Thursday.
Food is pretty much the same every day and it gets boring. Again, the only restaurant/buffet is very badly kept and the table cloths only get changed once so if you sit on a table after another guest you gotta sit with their dirt.
This place was probably a nice resort once. Now it’s appalling, neglected, it NEEDS money investing to turn it into a nice place again, it has so much potential, facilities unused, it could be absolutely amazing.

Only resort was not this hotel. At first the staff was not at all willing to serve you. Secondly, you can not charge 140 € per night for a poorly maintained hotel. It was all old , the shower was damaged and only luxury resort did not remind but a cheap hotel. The most unacceptable was that the rooms did not have wifi but even worse it did not have a signal on the cell phone. As a result of which you feel as if you are in exile since you could not communicate and can not use your phone at all.

I have stayed in many all inclusive hotels in most of Europe and Mexico. This hotel is by far the worst I have ever stayed in. It should not really be called in inclusive, as the drinks offered are very limited and only available 10.30 - 10.30, therefore if you are sat by the pool at 10 am you can't have a drink?!? Even when the pool bar is open the very miserable bar man is reluctant to give you drinks, unless you are a paying customer and then he likes to chat...really poor customer service. The customer service is non existent for all members of staff, which in total must be about 10. The beach bar is not included in the all inclusive and you have to pay for sun beds at the beach/cove, it's a beautiful area, but is open to the public and can get very busy. The rooms in the hotel are damp and the showers don't work. We were informed at check in not to use the shower as the room would flood. I asked did any of the rooms have a shower that worked and I was informed, very few sorry?!?. No public parts of the hotel have aircon and the room aircon is poor. The evening bar area does not have enough seats and they play the same depressing tunes night after night, if you like Elton John, Celine Deon and Phil Collins it will rock your world, if not you might want to throw yourself off the balcony after the second night. All in all , its really not good. Food ok, location beautiful, hotel poor. Lots to upgrade.

I would advise to maybe rebook else where as the resort is not as described unfortunately. If you choose to keep your ookibg its about 5/10 minutes in a taxi to a vilage/beach near by. Hope this helps
