SKALINADA is a family hotel-restaurant, opened in 1990, in the small and quiet village of Zavala on the south side of Hvar island, far from the crowds and noise of mass tourism. SKALINADA is situated 20 meters from the sea, surrounded by old pine forests, olive groves and a vineyard whose grapes produce the exquisite white wine called Zavala. SKALINADA is a place for a quiet and relaxing vacation, but if you prefer, it can also be an excellent base for active and attractive holidays full of adventure and exploration. SKALINADA is a place where, through the lush nature and the intoxicating scents of lavender, rosemary and oleander, you can experience the Mediterranean as it used to be.

We only had lunch in the restaurant. Very nice spot with the beach just below, Well cooked fish, good pasta and delicious deserts in a relax family atmosphere. You could always find things to improve but overall a pleasant experience. I recommend

Small seaside hotel located in a quieter part of Hvar island. Clean rooms Private swimming pool and sun deck / chairs Hotel by the beach Is run by very friendly family Very nice food served, some of them pieces of art Cocktail bar Great breakfast Hotel is a bit remote located in Zavala on the south side of the island. No public transport Rental car or own car is advised to see more of the island We would definitely come back to this lovely place

I spent a few short days in this wonderful hotel on the coast of Hvar. This is a great place to unwind. There is a small public beach right on the property but it was never crowded and there was a walkway to the small town where you could find a place between the rocks to lay your towel with a little more privacy. The restaurant and beach bar both had nice views of the Adriatic and served tasty and reasonably priced treats. The staff and owners were very responsive and generous. I thoroughly recommend Hotel Skalinada.

We stumbled on this place when we got lost on our quads trying to find a winery. What a great find! We didn't have a chance to check out the rooms but we ate at the restaurant and it didn't disappoint. The marinated tuna on zucchini ribbons was out of this world, and so was the calamari and everything else we had. I also tried a lavender prosecco that I am still having dreams about!!

It has has been our second stay at Tonci and Sabine’s Skalinada. Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Hvar city on the south side of the island, it’s a lovely little hotel right at the waters edge. Lots of space to lie either on the beach or at the pool. The highlight however is the food! Enjoyed most delicious scampi buzara, dalmatian style fish, an enormous lobster and grilled fresh St. Peter’s fish. Will definitely return next year!

Bad start, arrived and couldn’t find the reception, no signs of any kind to guide you... After a very brief “welcome” we had a quick light lunch despite no real light bites available. Went to the room which has a great sea view with terrace but is very basic. Not even shower gel...not mentioning a bed carpet on the floor... Rooms are also noisy due to stone floors. Internet : several attempted needed to log in (logs you out several times) and connection is very slow. Last but not least, despite an early 10 am check out, a request to delay it by 30 minutes was denied... Pity, the place as potential but you can feel the lack of interest for non regular clients. The tone is given from the start when arriving on the car parking there is a....cash machine !

Delightfully quirky and friendly hotel in a blissfully quiet bay not far from Hvar town. Lovely walks and beaches. Comfortable room with small balcony. We stayed half board as there did not seem anywhere else to eat. The meal was a fixed menu which might not suit everyone. Delightful place to visit.
