Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very run down, old, smelly hotel. The bar inside is a building site. The service was the worst I have ever had, and we were not even able to check in because no one returned our call. We booked at 5pm and at 5.25 we attempted to call them, got diverted to a number in Brisbane. Left a message. We did 2 more attempts as we arrived a couple of hours later, and the reception was closed. We called a landline and mobile number as displayed, but still did not get an answer. So we left to go back home and finally received a call. When I explained the situation and asked for a refund they refused. I was aware at the time of booking that the rate was not refundable, and it would have been okay, but not getting back to us with check in instructions was not acceptable. Out of curiosity I called this Brisbane number that we were diverted to the next day after hours to see if it was in fact the hotel after hours number and the lady on the other end said, yes. So, we had a quick chat, but being a staff member only she could not further help. On top of this the manager is now telling me that the number I called in the first place, was a wrong number, even though I have got the evidence on my phone. Unbelievable. I can only suggest, find anything else if you need accommodation. They do not care about their customers.

Don't be fooled by photos on site. Very rundown and tired. Pool and spa were green. When asked staff they said it was always like that. Rooms with garden view were on a main thoroughfare which people cut through past all the units all day. So no sevurity. Only opening windows in bathroom and kitchen couldn't lock. The two big windows on bedroom were fixed panes of glass. No privacy without keeping blinds closed all the time and no insect screens so we were closed inside with air-conditioning on all the time. No kitchen sink only small bathroom vanity to wash dishes etc. Unkept back courtyard ugly. No broom to sweep sand.

Response from Sarayi Hotel, Other at Sarayi Boutique Hotel
Responded 19 Jul 2023
Hi thank you for your review… however we are sorry we could not control the weather for your stay at Palm Cove. As we mentioned on multiple occasions the pool is not green..: the pool is serviced every week and is maintained very well by our pool contractor. Our Garden rooms yes look over the gardens and people walk by from the carpark through to reception and then on to the beach. All the windows have blockout blinds on them so not sure how there is no privacy. Also these are hotel rooms don’t have kitchens so there isn’t any additional sinks than the one in the bathroom. We don’t supply brooms in the hotel rooms either but if you need your room vacuumed from you bringing in sand then you can let us know and we can have the housekeeping fix that for you. Lastly we do have WIFi in the rooms however it’s available in the common areas. We also don’t advertise we have Foxtel either so no we don’t have it available. However thank you for staying and hope you still managed to enjoy your holiday even with it pouring rain!

My stay at Sarayi was exceptional. I originally booked a one night stay with my family and dog and we ended up staying 4 nights. The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful, it didn’t feel like I was just staying at any hotel, they made it feel like a home for those 4 nights. The location is perfect and very handy to all the restaurants and beach. My family loved swimming in the rooftop pool as well as having breakfast on the rooftop with one of the best views in Palm Cove. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay at Sarayi one to remember for all the right reasons. Would highly recommend anyone who is after that quintessential Palm Cove boutique style hotel to stay at Sarayi.

I had to relocate to Palm Cove from Sydney rather suddenly with two dogs and thankfully found Sarayi and their super dog friendly accommodation. They offered me an excellent long-stay rate which was fantastic value for the beachfront location. The staff make you feel like you're at home, I currently have special dietary requirements and lovely Janine made sure I had all the culinary equipment I needed. I am very sad to have to check out, I wish I could live in this wonderful hotel permanently! Highly recommended.

This is our second stay here. My wife and I stayed at Sarayi with my doggo Brandy girl. What a great week we had. The room was clean, light and fresh, even a new bed which was sooo comfortable! Little courtyard that we had was perfect for Brandy to catch some fresh air. We didn’t expect a view as we didn’t book and ocean view but we literally 2min walk from our room to the beach… wow! We will certainly be back and definitely can’t wait to tell our friends that we can bring the fur babies too! Thanks to the girls on Reception… so helpful with anything we needed to know!

One night stop over, although I’m coming back in December for a week. Great little motel right on the beach the staff were very friendly, great roof top pool and is close to everything at Palm Cove. Had to get a late check out at the last minute and this was also easily arranged.

What a rip off!! I'm so incredibly disappointed with our stay here. The check in was a disaster already where we were over charged some ridiculous amounts which couldn't be explained and then they took photos of out I'd and credit cards with the number at the back even written down in their paperwork . So dodgy! The staff was rude and barely even on site. The common areas such as pool and roof top had no lighting so we couldn't use after 6pm even though it says they can be used until 11.30pm. The photos you see online are very old from a time the hotel wS taken care off. It is very run down and dirty. Cockroaches everywhere! Book anywhere but here.
