Alison and George provided us with the best experience when we stayed for two nights in room 3. The room was charming, clean, tastfully decorated with an ensuit secluded at the rear of the main floor with it's own lounge and TV area. There is a lovely verandah outside the room with cool breezes and a great spot for wine... More

The most warm hosts and lovely B&B. Close to town, very comfy bed & quiet home at an excellent price. I don't usually stop in Cooma but it is definitely now an option to at the only remaining B&B in town. Have dinner at the Lebanese restaurant down the road to add to the beautiful Cooma experience :)

Alison is a first class operator and a very friendly person. Ellstanmor is a wonderful old building. I had a super-comfortable one night stay. This is a recommended place to break the journey or to have a stay in Cooma.

Allison and George made us very welcome . The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was good and the house is nicely decorated. Compared to the other accommodation options in cooma Ellstanmor is a step up. We will definitely be heading back.

People lovely, nice cooked breakfast - that's where it all ends. The room was extremely hot with no aircon and no openable widows. The bed was low set, soft and very uncomfortable. The room was tiny no place for anything much. The bathroom was cramped - not enough room to swing a cat and hard to enter over elevated border.... More

We spent 3 nights in their "apartment" (not the B and B, which we did not see), which is located under the house out the back. It is a two bedroom apartment and sleeps 6. Our first impression was it was dark and quite gloomy. There was inadequate lighting, the walls were painted dark, had dark curtains, giving it a... More

Thank you for your feedback Bill and Sandy. We will certainly consider your tips next time we renovate and paint. Some have complimented the warm and cosy feel. All the feedback we have received untl now has reflected on how quite and spacious the apartment is. Please note Bill and Sandi stayed in our two bedroom self contained apartment -... More

Arrived here early in the evening on a Wednesday with my wife and our baby daughter, half-way through a two day short-notice car trip from Sydney to Bairnsdale. We had phoned and spoken with owner Allison about half an hour before we arrived. It turned out we were the only guests staying that night, but despite our last-minute enquiry Allison... More

My wife and I were welcomed like old friends by Allison and George on our first visit. The accommodation in this heritage building is comfortable and quiet. All rooms have been renovated and ensuite bathrooms have been squeezed in. Although not luxurious, the atmosphere is great. A home-style cooked breakfast with eggs to order and excellent barista coffee is a... More

My wife and I decided on a spur of the moment ski trip and could only find accommodation in Cooma. We were looking for an overnight stay between Sydney and Orbost in Victoria. The house has been nicely renovated, retaining the original feel and spaciousness of an old style home. Our room was very comfortable. Allison and George were most welcoming and friendly owners with lots of ideas for dinner and activities around Cooma. So much nicer to stay in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was built in 1875 for the Body family on 5 acres with numerous outbuildings and cottages throughout the grounds and there was a staff of many. Today Ellstanmor is on a smaller block and is the home of Georg and Allison and family. It has a parlor, huge covered verandah, a library, lovely formal entrance, gorgeous French doors everywhere, ornate staircase, off street parking, central heating and some nice garden spaces. Being in Cooma’s CBD, the house is within a few minutes walk of all facilities Cooma has to offer. There is the Cooma Twin Cinema screening the latest films. The centre of town is well known for cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs. We are adjacent to the heated swimming centre and the cycle path and walking trail commences at the bottom of the street. Free Wifi is available for guests who want to connect to the internet. The accommodation at the guest house is very smart, but casual. There are four nice queen rooms all with their own en-suite bathrooms. Our parlor with French doors to the front of the house has a comfortable leather club suite. The dining room is the hub of the home, casual but very Victorian, with a large bay window and ornate fixtures. You may choose to find a corner and watch a movie or TV, or maybe read that overdue book. Guests are encouraged to relax and take it easy; there are enough spaces to kick back. Breakfast is a casual affair with great espresso coffee, a selection of teas, breads, fruits cereals and juices. Or choose a country cooked breakfast cooked to order. ... more   less
