We enjoyed staying one night at this hotel, on our way up to Brisbane. The rooms are old but clean, and represent good value. Our bed was comfy but not upscale (for the room price was good). The rooms all open out on to a lovely shady garden which has a children play set and lots of picnic tables. The...

Although the location of this venue is beautiful, it's sad to see the deterioration of the hotel over the past three years. When it was taken over 12 months ago, we were hoping that refurbishment would bring it back to its former glory. Unfortunately, the condition of the rooms (basic motel rooms with private bathroom) has worsened - they are...

I have stayed there three times before because its cheap, and sort of something from the past, great location, but it's slipped. While it used to be old, and a bit 1960's I guess, it was always clean and the rooms serviced. The rooms are no longer serviced. I won't be staying again. The restaurant was good, so that's something.

We caught the ferry from Nelson Bay and decided to have a drink & some lunch at the pub.We sat out in the outdoor area which is looking very tired & could do with a tidy & revamp. We ordered our meals which was only chilli prawn fettuccine which was nice but we waited for over 40mins I'm sure they forgot...

We went in for dinner and a quiz night was on. Fantastic evening with lots of laughs and nice people. I recommend the Chili Prawn Fettuccini - pasta dishes in pubs are so often claggy but not this one, perfectly cooked fetuccini and the right balance of sauce and plenty of good size prawns. A good honest well-run pub with...

We have been visiting Tea Gardens Hotel occasionally for some 14 years and this year it has changed. After years of enjoying a fine pint of Guiness I was informed last night that the new publican had discontinued serving this. I also had taken my sons and grandchildren to enjoy an evening meal as we had often done and we...

Nice watering hole with water views. Our drink in the front bar was spoilt by men smoking outside the front door despite signs saying no smoking. The wind blew the smoke into the bar. We had time to kill before catching the ferry back to Port Stephens

We called in for lunch and ordered the blue eye cod with bok choy, pea purée and chat potatoes and it was delicious. However, we didn't see the welcoming dining room and ate in beer garden which needs a good clean. 2 glass walls need a wash, not to mention the cobwebs, so avoid the beer garden

Tea Gardens Pub is situated near the ferry wharf on the Myall river. The ferry runs a service to and from Nelson Bay. If you want fish and chips, order the Fish Cone which is a good deal and tasty value for money. There is a nice Beer Garden and all the usual amenities. Regular varied entertainment About once a month...

Being a "local" and having dined at TG pub several times I have to say the food quality has slowly gone downhill. Recently I attended a dinner meeting and we all received the same meal of lasagna. Having Italian heritage I don't order lasagna when dining out for obvious reasons. This meal was terrible. The lasagna was tasteless and dry...
