Stayed one night in a beautiful three bedroom three bathroom villa just next to the river and a few minutes from the centre of town. Couldn't really ask for more. Jane, the owner was very helpful with advice about the area and places to visit and eat at so all in all, a very pleasant and relaxing stay, well worth... More

Honestly ... We stayed here because it had the same name as my surname :) but also it looked pretty cool. and it was. The rooms were small but very clean and very funky, they had an 'old world' feel to them extremely tidy. We stayed in a 4 bedroom building near the river. it had a common room with... More

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. We booked two rooms, one for my aunt and one for my husband and I. She had booked a cheaper room, but when we arrived the owners upgraded her to the room next to ours. The rooms were small but clean and extremely tidy. We didn't mind the small rooms at all... More

Instead of a party for my husband's 60 birthday, we chose to take the family of 9 (3 couples, 1 single, 2 children) away for a two night stay at my favourite place in the world, Port Fairy. The Douglas was familiar to us from a weekend stay with friends. The rooms with a river view suited our needs perfectly.... More

Bernadette, thank you for your review. Also thank you for asking if it was possible to sleep 8 people, as our house only sleeps 7. We where only too happy to allow you to provide the additional fold out bed and cot, as we do not provide them ourselves, it enabled you to enjoy this special occasion as one big... More

We stayed one night at Douglas Riverside during a drive from Melbourne to Adelaide. Port Fairy is a delightful little town with an interesting history. Jan welcomed us with plenty of information about Port Fairy and the surrounding area. We had an excellent room with a very comfortable sleigh bed. In addition, we had access to a huge conservatory with... More

This small hotel is ideally located just a short walk from the centre of town. It is in a beautiful position with lawns stretching down to the river. The rooms are comfortable and the whole place is clean well presented. The common room with well fitted kitchen has surrounding windows to overlook the river which are every bit as beautiful... What a magnificent place this is. We staid in one of the river view rooms and had access to the common room were the views over the river were absolutely amazing. A small hotel in a perfect location. Clean, comfortable and set in a beautifully kept garden, with lawns running down to the river's edge. A delightful place to relax and watch the evening sky and the birds on the river.

A very charming and quaint hotel. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The lawn (which overlooks the river) is well-suited for a relaxed evening with a glass of wine. Our room (along with the rest of the property) was noticeably immaculate. Location is great and well within walking distance of the main restaurants/town centre. Our host, Jane, was delightful... Pulled into Port Fairy late on New Year's Day. Hadn't booked anything and found this quaint motel on the river. We needed 2 rooms and found the last ones in town.
