Lots of flying to finally get here, but worth it. Cooler than other parts of the country and if you are lucky you can see the Himalayas in the distance. Unbelievable accommodations and a staff that goes out of its way to please. Expensive but they fill your day with different, included, events...elephant ride, rafting and trekking

Putao is not easy tio reach... the journey there is part of the experience. Once there (I assume you can afford this place, luxury in isolation is not cheap), you will be awestruck by the beauty of the surrounds, the care put into little luxuries (like a bathtub in the middle of the suite) and fine food. Activities are elephant... More

My husband and I have been trying to visit Myanmar for the last twelve years and finally in March we arrived there. It was well worth the wait. We decided to go to Putao since it is off the beaten track and even though it took three extra flights from Yangon to get there we are happy we made the effort.... More

Nestled in an isolated and distant village of Northern Kachin State beyond the Nam Lang River, on the verge of the enthralling Himalayan Mountains and towards Myanmar’s extreme northwest corner lays the Malikha Lodge those servers as the most elite retreat of the World. It is like a piece of land separated from the jagged peaks and the subtropical rainforests... More

This is one of the most difficult Trip Advisor reviews I have had to write! We have travelled several times to Myanmar in the past 2 years and we were keen to go to Putao in the north of the country, at the foothills of the Himalayas, a beautiful part of Myanmar which few tourists yet visit, since it has... The isolated setting overlooking a river and mountains is lovely. The room (actually individual cottages) are very large and comfortable with wood stoves that are lit every morning at 6 AM by the staff. The staff is incredibly helpful. The price of the rooms however is ridiculously high. The restaurant is lovely and the food good, but not as good... More

First visited the Malikha Lodge in February 2007 and returned in March 2012 with wife and two children. It is a very, very special place and I am happy to report that the experience was actually better even though the property hs changed hands a couple of times. The rooms are amazing and incredibly comfortable and the local staff are... More

Just came back from 2 weeks in Myanmar. Went on a special Andrew Harper tour that left much to be desired. Their write-up exaggerated on what they really delivered. While I have many issues with AH, I can say that Malikha Lodge was outstanding. Great service, great food, and beautiful rooms. The activities available- walking thru local villages, hiking in... I've a trip with my friends to Myanmar last December 2011. I never regret of decided to visit to Putao, with 3 transit flight by Air Bagan, we reach the northern part of Myanmar, with a view of Himalaya snow mountains, close to freezing point weather, crispy fresh air. Staying in Putao only resort, Malikha lodge, a nearly perfect resort... More

We did the Rawang Explorer in December 2009, which is 4 days hiking and 3 nights at malikha lodge. The hike was beautiful, with excellent food and guides. But beware, lots of up hill, very cold and you stay in village houses rather than camp (the itinerary was very misleading in this regard). The lodge itself is wonderful, with everything... More
