A truly spectacular setting with wonderful views down the valley. The hotel itself is decorated with real discretion and taste, and the rooms are spacious. There's a small kitchen for those who need it, and there's also a very comfortable lounge (where the generous breakfast is served). You will be quite a long way from decent restaurants, but as we...

Just stayed at Montchateau and have to say I had a wonderful time --The place has stunning views and the whole set up is first class. Hazel and Phil are a lovely couple and make you feel welcome from the time you arrive as do Fred and Clarence (their two cats!!) I wholeheartedly recommend Montchateau to anyone looking for first...

The property is situated up high in the village with superb views of the area. The owners Hazel and Phil were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are all very well furnished and decorated. On arrival we had requested a cold buffet which was excellent as was the breakfasts with fresh produce throughout. There is a terrace at the rear...

We stayed at Montchateau for 3 nights on the way south. We had a room that over looked the valley, the views are stunning. Hazel and Phil are excellent hosts with Hazel cooking lovely meals at the weekends. If you want a peaceful setting and you are a keen walker i would recommend this B&B for a longer stay. We...

We caught the train from Paris CDG to Grenoble and then drove to Montchateau. What a gorgeous little village, winding up the mountain through some tiny streets, seeing patches of snow as we pass by on a frosty late winters day! The rooms are gorgeous, spacious, very clean and just as pictured Breakfast is freshly made (it does cost extra...

Thank you for taking the time to write a great review for us, it's much appreciated. I'd just like to comment about paying extra for breakfast. In fact breakfast is included in all of our room rates. The extra you paid was for the extra person who came with you as you paid single person occupancy rate for the room...

We recently stayed at this lovely B&B for two nights to explore nearby Annecy. Everything from our initial welcome, very well appointed room and excellent home cooked meal in the evening was first class. We would recommend MontChateau without reservation and would not hesitate to return.

A beautiful property with stunning views, lovely rooms and February hosts! We only stayed one night and were reluctant to leave had we not be travelling down to the south of France. We had a very yummy 3 course evening meal with the other guests and hosts Hazel & Phil. Interesting convo and lovely wine. I was eager to go...

Loved this place, its location, the standard of the rooms & facilities, but the best was the bed & pillows. Off all our stays on our short break this bed was the best, so important when traveling around. We did have a little difficulty finding it but our sat nav sorted us out. They also have a small kitchen which...

Thank you for taking the time to review our accommodation at Montchateau and for your positive comments, they are much appreciated. We're sorry you felt that we were not as welcoming as other B&B experiences that you have had and we will take this into consideration in the future. We also take on board that it is not clear on...

We recently spent a night here en route to the Alps, it exceeded our expectations. The bedroom was very tasteful and very clean, with comfortable bed and pillows. Although the weather was freezing the room was really cosy. The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a superb evening meal cooked by Hazel, very well...
