I booked this for a last min get away and so got a really good deal. Not sure if I would have felt as positive if I had paid top dollar high season price. However, at the time I booked the reviews on here were generally pretty negative. I remember thinking: what sort of places do these people stay in? This was absolutely fine and actually quite nice.
I went for a long weekend so didn't get a chance to get bored of the food and was blown away by the variety and the quality was fine. Plus the serving staff are super friendly - particularly if you make the slightest effort to speak even a tiny bit of Spanish. There were quite a lot of rude Germans staying when I was there so think I made a nice change.
Rooms are small, but in this sort of place you're only using it to sleep.
I had hired a bicycle as was using it as a base for warm weather training and the hotel staff were very accomodating and didn't bat an eye lid as I walked it along the marble corridors to / from my room.
Arenal is what is is: the German Magaluf, so expect lots of drunk Germans on the beach and take ear plugs.
But the hotel itself was lovely and v convenient for the airport.
NB I actually stayed here in Sept 2018 and have been meaning to write ever since, but had never got round to it

It is a quite decent hotel. Rather close to the airport, also close to restaurants, supermarkets and the beach. Within walking distance to Aqualand, which is also worth a visit. Rooms are rather small, and it would be nice with a free fridge (these are available for rental). Cleaning is good. There is a small snack bar with friendly staff, but they only serve basic fastfood. A nice pool with many sunbeds, we always found sunbeds there even in the peak period of mid July. The lift is quite slow so thats a minus. Be aware that there are a lot of partying youngsters during July and August (primarily German and Dutch), so these dominate quite a lot in the pool area and are also very noisy at night in their rooms (load talk and music), so cannot be recommended for families during peak season due to this.

We have just arrived back after a 4 night break. Few down sides , first one when we arrived they tried to put us in their sister hotel across the street. We said no as we booked and paid extra for this one. The girl on the desk tried to say we didn’t and we booked the “resort” Thankfully I had copies of our original paperwork which infact stated we booked beach and not park. We were kept hanging around while they tried to sort a room. This had been booked since July. They clearly had plenty of rooms yet did exactly the same to others booking in who didn’t make a fuss. The room was spotless but beds were rock hard like lying on bricks. I had a short lie down for an hour and it set my back off which spoilt the first night as I could barely walk . We went down for evening meal as we were half board. It was probably an hour into service and the food was really bad, no choice and freezing cold. The heat lamps didn’t seem to be working. Breakfast the next morning was a tad better as we went down for opening so atleast it was warm.
We were given fresh towels daily and beds made every morning. It was a good base to go to the beach and we did just sleep there and tended to have a meal out of the hotel the rest of the time. Not the best hotel but overall I give it a 4/5

A 3star hotel with 4star qualities, whether it was due to covid and @ 60% capacity I don't know but I was surprised and pleasantly so with the sheer hard work the staff put in to the unending cleaning and wiping and making sure we adhered to masks and hand sanitiser whilst in the hotel, courtesy and friendliness abounded here. Rooms 2 booked I had a single spotless, bathroom spotless, my family next door exactly the same, clean sheets clean towels (changed daily) decor soothing and modern. Wardrobes large and plenty of room. TV, hairdryer, balcony I cannot fault anything. Restaurant, the best, variety, very fresh food and marvelous salads, we even had our pre flight home tests here 2 medicals came every day for an hour 30 euros results 15-20 minutes and valid certificate for the flight. A computer and a printer for guest use (small charge) and proved invaluable to the guests for our forms and check- ins for our flight home. . Also must mention sun loungers plenty of them and comfortable. Wish I could have stayed for 3 weeks instead of 2. If the staff can keep up this standard in full time capacity then this is a really good Hotel and well done.

As a family of three, we were very satisfied with the whole experience of staying at the Ipanema Beach hotel. The rooms were clean, tidy and spacious, the personell in the reception, restaurant and bar were really friendly. Both the breakfast and the dinner had ample choice of good food. It is a 10 minute walk down the hill to the beach and between 6 and 8 euros to take a taxi back up, if you dont want the walk. We really enjoyed it and would definitely return.

On arrival, late in the evening, we were told that they didn't have a room for us. We were sent to the hotel next door, The Seramer Luna. Receptionist told us that it wasn't his fault and in other words just get on with it! On arrival at the hotel next door, it was as if they didn't want us there . It was the dingiest place. I wouldn't even call it a hotel, maybe a hostel. My daughter pulled back the sheet to get into bed and was met with dirt and hair!!!!
Back at our original hotel the next morning there were 14 other very angry
people who had stayed next door also. I spoke with a manager who said it was a hot water issue, however the rooms were ready at 10 the next morning! We were offered lunch, a burger for 2 days with water only.
Otherwise hotel was nice and pool area lovely

I’m a snob when it comes to comfort. The airline I booked with gave me 3 free nights here. Upon reading the reviews I had decided I wasn’t going near this hotel. Well I decided to try it out and move to another hotel if it was truly as bad as they say.
Well from the moment I set foot into the lobby and checked in with Blanca everything was a solid 10. Hotel is spotless, beds very comfortable staff very friendly. Diego was embarrassed to take a small tip even though he truly deserved it. So what if they charge for WiFi. Hotels have to stay above water. Our room 419 was magnificent, we had a view of the city. We never ate at the hotel. Location is great. 10 mins to airport. One word of caution there is no parking. We really lucked out and happened to be driving past a person leaving.
Check out Iron Dinner and Mathew will take very good care of you. Gold Massage was the best ever.

Really fantastic hotel, all the staff are extremely friendly, very helpful. The room, pool area and whole hotel interior are kept very clean.

The only issue I would point out is I feel the breakfast was poor, there was plenty to chose from however the quality was not fantastic.

Apart from that great hotel, great location. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel was overall nice, cheap bar, amazing pool area and good food. But beware of unexpected payments. Like the tourism tax and if you need a covid test be sure to have money on a card, otherwise you wont be able to pay. The employees are mostly really nice besides one or two that might just be having a bad day.

Please make sure you read as its honest and very important if you are considering staying here. I'll tell my story then say a bit about the area and food and shops etc. so scroll to end if that's all you want to read.

Me and my mum go to Spain every year - this is our first worse holiday yet.

We booked in May as my mum has just retired, we went last Thursday. Upon arrival we were told as were many others that they had over booked and we were sent in a taxi to another hotel, as compensation they upgraded us to all inclusive. Not bad we thought. The next day we got a taxi back to this hotel to check in as we were told the rooms would be ready. They told us we couldn't check in for 2 hours. We left our cases in reception and went to beach.

After the beach we went to hotel 5pm and could finally check in. We got to the room and I just wanted to cry. We were given room 009 and it honestly was like a hostel room. Small dingy and fans/generator outside balcony my mum was distraught she just went out and sat in reception. I complained to reception as they had just shoved us in the last available room. They were not even sorry and told us we can move rooms but not until the next day. So third day living out a suitcase and purposely staying out of the room as it was unbearable.

So the third day we were able to check in to another room but again not for an hour so again we went to beach and came back in afternoon. That room was ok spacious and had a bath and nice pool view. Because I'd been living out of a suitcase for 3 days and had no apology, the upgrade to all inclusive just didn't cut it. I had my sister and mother in law coming out to join us as a surprise for my mum, I said as a gesture of good will could you upgrade them to all inc also so we can enjoy a drink together (not actually being big drinkers) the British lady on reception wrote this down and said yes.

My relatives came and the same British lady on reception went back on her word and did not upgrade them.

The manager would never speak to me and another Spanish lady on reception, when I told her my troubles she just told her eyes and over talked me in Spanish saying I've had my compensation (all inc)

I'd rather of just gone half board in another hotel.

To top it off, last night was my last night. They have a fridge by the bar and has water and ice cream in which people help themselves too. Which I did myself. Last night after taking a water from the fridge the bar man shouted over to me NO NO NO, he told me I wasn't allowed to just take I had to ask. I was so upset and shocked, I shouted back as by this point I was angry, then the other bar man came over and grabbed the waters rudely saying don't just take (etc). I said I did not know I wasn't allowed as I'd been doing all week. They were so rude and so hurtful. Spoilt my last night after my first 2 days being ruined also. I went and got the British lady off reception who came over and spoke to them in Spanish so I had no idea what they were saying but they did say sorry smuggely.

1) Bad Attitude of staff - did not make our stay pleasurable and very very rude
2) drinks tasted very fake and cheap
3) close to beach but up a big hill
4) it's like a German magaluf
5) it's the rough area
6) food was not bad just the usual 3*, we were quite happy with it and never went hungry
7) nice pool area but full of loud Germans
8) the hotel kontiki is about 10 mins in car right near beach from and is lovely! Go there instead!
9) plenty of shops on beach front but very expensive no usual 2 euro shops like Spain usually has
10) beware of gypsies on the beach selling drinks as they will say a coke is 2.50 and once they open it ask for 11 euro!!!!!
11) no matter how cheap this hotel comes up as, I've learnt my l lesson the hard way - please do not stay here you really will regret it.

Bad management
Bad hotel
Basic food
Nice looking hotel

I really hope this helps :) which is of read something like this before I booked. I'm 30 and my mums 65 and we are so easy going but this was just a nightmare from hell.
