Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So welcoming and hospitable with incredibly friendly staff. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The food was great, reasonably priced and nothing was too much trouble. Treated my dog like a VIP too. Loved it. We are a gay couple and were treated with total respect and inclusion.

On arrival the room wasnt heated, had to phone down to reception for the heating to be put on. The dressing robes that are provided are very rough, so these werent used. The breakfast area the following morning was very dull, no music and could her everyones conversations, the breakfast meal itself was cold and not much option and portion size was poor. I am also a diabetic and there was no option for sweetners on the tables only sugar lumps. Overall a lovely room, but feel the nights stay was overpriced.

The heating is on from 6.30am to 9am and 4pm until 9pm, alternative heating is also supplied in each room and on request we turn the main heating on. Music is always on at breakfast, it may have been missed on this occasion. Staff check back to ensure guests are happy, if not, just say and any mistakes will be corrected as would the music if mentioned.

We have visited Wolfscastle Country Hotel for functions many times over the years, but have never experienced the delights of an overnight stay in this fantastic hotel. The room was immaculate, luxurious and well equipped with lovely decor, super-clean (which is a given), awesome comfy bed and simply a brilliant atmosphere. We stayed here with another couple and their room was equally as awesome and they raved about how nice it was too. We enjoyed a drink in the cozy atmospheric bar before enjoying a stunning evening meal. The presentation and attention to detail was way above our expectations and it goes without saying, that the taste on every course was simply delightfully yummy!! Based on this, we knew the breakfast next morning would be equally as mouth watering, which it was. However, aside and as well as all this, it's the amazing attentive staff that clearly make this hotel tick and run so smoothly and I guess that's not a surprise when you realise that the hotel has been owned and run by the same person / family for 47 years. They are clearly doing something right!! We shall return.

We have chosen to get married at this fabulous venue in August this year and recently came to try our pre-booked wedding breakfast taster. We were really excited to try our chosen dishes and were also joined by my mother. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Alison on reception and Andy (the hotel owner) who made us all feel very welcome- despite us arriving 30 minutes early it wasn't an issue and we were shown to the dining room where our table was laid out ready (which included our personalised wedding menu with our names, wedding date and course choices that we were sampling- this was a nice personal touch- attention to detail is Wolfscastle Hotel's forté which they excel at in so many ways. Our waitresses were super attentive, efficient, friendly- and a big one for me- happy! Nothing was too much trouble- and every course was served with a smile and their engagement with us throughout was faultless- they asked how we enjoyed each course and when we had questions about dish vegan modifications they went to speak to the head chef Seb and returned with all the information written down. I would like to point out too that despite there being a group of 40 people who were in a separate room having afternoon tea, this didn't impact on the service we received which shows how polished and professional the waiting staff are. The food was absolutely superb- and- in my mother's words 'had the wow factor!' The presentation was on point and more than adequate portion sizes. Every single course more than tickled the taste buds and tasted as good as it looked. What we liked and highly appreciated was throughout our wedding planning everything has been made so that it is bespoke for us. In our wedding party there are a variety of dietary requirements which could have been a potential headache for us to try and accommodate everyone- however Seb and Andy have put together an array of creative dishes to appease everyone- including at our pre-wedding evening buffet. Lastly we would like to mention our wedding co-ordinator Lowri (who took the time to have a quick chat before going to a meeting). She has been a god-send for us and so helpful, informative and hands-on assisting us with our wedding day plans. Thank you everyone at Wolfscastle Hotel! Rhi & Sean

We arrived at the hotel for a 2 night stay. On arrival after a long drive from London we were greeted very warmly and quckly felt at home at the hotel. We hadn't realised when booking we would be there for Valentines day. Not wanting to drive out again we looked to book dinner at the hotel the only meal available at the hotel was a 6 course valentines day menu so we thought why not. And boy it did not disappoint just brilliant and the personal attention of the all the staff that night could not be faulted. Just lovely. On our second day we tried out the spa treating ourselves to a couple of treatments and use of the sauna and hot tub. Bethan and Meg were so lovely and caring again can't fault it. Our room was spacious clean comfy we booked a Calon room. Again cant fault it. All the staff especially the ladies on reception where just brilliant. I would recommend and I would stay again. Thank you to team Wolfscastle well done!!

The food just gets better and better Beautifully presented Super tasty, and the gravy just wants to make you lick your lips constantly! 😂 Allergies catered for wonderfully! Absolutely Stunning decor Service is 5* And it's the little things, we've become so close to a few staff now, and it's always lovely to be welcomed back by them even if we love just up the road! I'm sure we visited a lot in December, 2 Christmas parties, a spa visit and afternoon tea, for hubby's birthday with the best massage I have ever encountered, festive lunch with a friend, and now again in January celebrating our father in laws birthday on yhe 13th of jan who's sadly passed 2 years ago, that was the reason for our get together yesterday and we couldn't have asked for better! See you again soon! Rachel Harries and family x

Thank you for putting such a great review & we so look forward to welcoming you back. At a slight loss as to why some of your party - the Trip Advisor below, who sat on the same table felt differently. Many, many thanks for your kind words.

We had the most lovely Christmas Day dinner here. It was beautifully organised and not over-crowded so we enjoyed the background buzz but weren't able to hear conversations on other tables. It gave a really good atmosphere with the festive background music too. The food was delicious and there was a lot of it. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. All in all, it was excellent value for money and we've been recommending it to our local friends too for next year!

Booked our Xmas party here for 8 of us, the evening in general was really good, the food was spot on and we all had a good laugh. Be aware pricey drinks, £5 per shot or £6.75 a pint 👀👀 Unfortunately before the band played for us, they were using their own speaker system, it sound like they need to be replaced, crackling and popping all over the place, made the songs really hard to listen to Once the band started and their equipment was used, the sound was spot on and the band was really really good, had everyone singing and up dancing, brilliant entertainment for the evening. Hotel room was lush, very nice super king comfy bed, but the sofa bed is definitely not adult worthy, our little lad slept on it fine but if you have a little bit more weight to you, you will feel every bar in the bed. The heating in the bathroom was broken, it could not be turned off, so we had to sleep with windows open to cool the room down, breakfast was average, I don't like beans, toms or eggs, so they give me 1/4 a slice of fried bread, 2xbacon, 1x sausage, 1 back pudding and 4 small mushrooms, not worth £12 per person. No alternative was offered. Pretty decent stay but just them few points where things could be improved on.

Thank you for a pretty positive review, £6.75 a pint for Peroni is about normal for our standard of establishment and most nights the music went through the bands pa system. If you dont like most components of breakfast, specify what you do want- so large portions of bacon, black pudding, sausage & fried bread, so we can ensure you get exactly what you do want. There is also a range of fruits, yogurts, cereals & pastries on the self service buffet for guest to help themselves.
