The other reviews pretty much hit the nail on the head, but I'll reiterate anyway because this hotel was most perfect, relaxing end to our 3 week trip through Colombia you could imagine. The bungalow itself was clean, spacious and elegant (though it's in the jungle, you will meet a few new friends from the insect world), the beach is...

Design of construction, gourmet cooking, setting, warmth of owners, all idiosyncratic and terrific. Great location and minimal disturbance of nature, while up-to-date in all amenities. Just don't be surprised by no hot water in shower. We forgot something in the room and they were great, getting it to us in another city.

I stayed at the Merecumbe for 2 nights in December 2012. I was travelling around Colombia with 4 friends and we were looking for a place to relax that was also in close proximity to Tayrona National Park in between our stays in Medellin and Cartagena. Everything about this hotel is amazing. The hotel which is family owned and run is...

This Hotel exceeded our expectations by a long shot. Last year, my wife and I stayed at the Ecohabs in the Tayrona Park and wanted to return this year but there was no vacancy. We asked people who had been in the area and one friend recommended Merecumbe (he had just walked by it, had not stayed in it)…..anyway, we...

This place is truly special. My husband and I traveled all over Colombia for 3 weeks and this was our favorite place by far. It is beautiful, they serve the best food in Colombia, you basically get to sleep in luxury in the rainforest, and we haven't stopped talking about how completely charmed we are by the family that runs...

While the setting is pretty, there are two huge drawbacks. First, there is absolutely nothing to do - the ocean is far too rough to swim, there is no pool (or hot water), no bicycles or excursions. Only a deck of cards and old board games. Not for $300+ aa night! Second, the place is run by a family completely...

A truly BEAUTIFUL, very special place, lovingly created and cared for personally by the family who own and run it. most things are hand made by staff employed by the family, everything is in as new condition. Beautiful gardens, truly lovely, exotic location. The food is AMAZING, made from fresh ingredients on the spot, the chef is fantastic, nothing is...

We stayed at the Merecumbe for 2 nights initially, and decided to change our return flight in order to stay an extra day at this place. It's such an amazing resort, with excellent food (breakfast, lunch and dinner included). The cabañas are very private but great quality. The owner, the rest of their family and the employees are great people...

I’ve just returned from a perfect winter retreat at Merecumbe Hotel, one of the nicest places I’ve ever visited. (I’ve traveled a lot.) The family that owns and runs it is delightful, the independent lodgings inviting, the food delicious and varied, the wines tasty, and the overall mood extremely conducive to romance, rest, and roaming Colombia’s Magdalena coastal area.
