Lovely rooms and a beautiful dining area overlooking the river. You can only get to the lodge by boat (that adds to the charm). Free Wifi in the common areas - lots of activities to do nearby (visit waterfalls, go down the river, kayaking etc.).. highly recommended

The Tortugal River Lodge is a great place to stay in Rio Dulce. Easily accessible and beautiful setting on the river. My bungalow was big and comfortable. Food at the restaurant was very good. Staff were great, though no English. A couple of extra little touches and it would have been perfect (no shower gel / shampoo, great coffee set...

we had a wonderful experience at the river lodge. Sonya was a ray of sunshine and very helpful in our quest to experience Rio Dulce, Fronteres and helping us get to know the cruising community there. Leo made sure we got back and forth to Fronteres safely and as with all the staff made our dining and relaxing a nice...

Very nice hotel, clean & simple. Staff was helpful but do not speak english. They came to get us at the bus stop and the boat ride was very short (5 minutes max) The restaurant is very good but a bit pricey. They have a beautiful dock where you can relax and wifi in the restaurant.

We took a short boat ride to the Tortugal River Lodge and the location by the water is just lovely. The restaurant is a great place to sit and the food is very good. We stayed in one of the two upstairs terrace rooms made of bamboo with fly screens all the way around and glimpses of the river. There...

Rio Dulce is a small town with almost no attraction. People come here either to take a boat to Livingstone or to visit Quirigua Archeological Zone. Hotel is beautifully situated by the river. Rooms are clean and comfortable but they are not luxurious - 4 star rating on booking.com can be misleading especially if you compare the photos with reality....

We stayed here for three nights! We booked on booking.com. The value was well worth the money! From the room, the bed, the bathroom, the staff, the food, everything was wonderful! The fact that they offer free kayaks and free lancha transport was a great bonus! They honor a tab system, so you pay via checkout! They accept credit cards....

Loved the bamboo and wood rooms - stayed in a bungalow as well as an Arboles 1st Fl room with balcony. The latter had too few lamps to see your way round the room, nor bedside lamps. The showers are great, beds too, and there are fans. The yachtie types are entertaining and you can eat, drink, and even watch...

I would like to praise the service at Tortugal. The staff is there to assist you before you have time to ask for help. They seem to appear out of nowhere when needed. It is a place with character and modern conveniences. My husband and I have returned there many times.

I have stayed at El Tortugal quite a few times and it never fails to impress. Very clean, comfortable rooms all give the feeling of being miles away from civilization (when in reality you're only a five minute boat ride from the local town)! Very comfortable beds, good quality sheets and pillows, reliable hot water and water pressure, beautifully decorated...
