Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Premier Inn St. Austell Hotel is celebrated for providing good value for money, with guests appreciating the meal deals despite some grumbles about food and amenity costs. While the hotel's location is applauded for its convenience to local attractions and free parking, there are occasional mentions of noise.
A strong point is the cleanliness of the rooms, which are frequently described as tidy and comfortable, although there are sporadic comments on dated aesthetics and the need for maintenance. Service-wise, staff members receive compliments for their friendliness and helpfulness, but efficiency during breakfast occasionally falls short. Overall, the atmosphere is seen as welcoming, with comfortable rooms that, for some, may get a tad too warm.

We chose St Austell Premier Inn to stay at during our week at Cornwall sightseeing. We were pleasantly Surprised at how all the staff we had the pleasure meeting were all super friendly and very helpful offering help & advice on the area with recommending places to visit. Lovely Jemma at reception was the lady that we spoke to for most of our holiday and she gave us some really good advice with directions too, we found Jemma really approachable and charming in-fact we think that she would make a great manager and we would like to commend Jemma for excellence throughout our visit. The other ladies we met at reception Cherie, Janette, Hayley, Jill & Pam were also helpful and very friendly, thank you so very much lovely ladies. Our accommodation was superb and updated well, 5* ‘s to the Room Maids as our room was cleaned extremely well many times during our week with the options of choosing how often we would like it cleaned too, we actually met two lovely ladies named Tammy and Louise they were also accommodating to our needs, well done and thank you ladies you do an excellent job.
Congratulations to you all we had a magnificent first stay at St Austell Premier Inn.
The only Negative we have is that of the Table Table Restaurant attached …. The Staff could be more inviting & friendly, food is over priced and not good quality. Tables were dirty and sticky. In fact we chose to eat out elsewhere. Would be better if it were a beefeater or Miller & Carter.

We stayed for two nights at the Premier in At Austell for the purpose of visiting the Eden Project for a concert. The hotel is very well situated for this, being only a short (10 min) drive from hotel to Eden car park.
We use Premiers a lot and this was a lovely hotel with very friendly, welcoming desk staff who were helpful in recommending places to eat as we arrived quite late.
The car park is a good size and we had no trouble finding parking, even returning late after the show.
The distance into St Austell town is about 20 minutes walk but it is up a steep hill coming back, so might take longer, be warned. In the end we had fish and chips at the pub next door (which also served breakfasts) and it was very filling and tasty.
The breakfast service was a bit chaotic. We had to hunt around for plates/glasses/cutlery etc as they were not always near the food and drink sites (or even each other) but the food was very good and plentiful when we got it.
The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable, as I've come to expect from this chain. One of the better Premiers we've stayed in for this. We had a kettle and there were always tea and coffee refills available in the foyer, plus a water cooler and snack vending machine.
Some upper rooms possibly have a distant sea view, though we were on the ground floor and didn't.
We had an enjoyable stay here. A good, central site for visiting the surrounding attractions, but those on a longer trip might prefer to be closer to the beach or the centre of a town/village.

We visited the premier inn Treverbn rd St.Austell Cornwall
We found the staff very welcoming & very accommodating. The room was spotless & the bed was comfortable & the sheets so crisp & white .We love this particular Premier inn as it’s a beautiful location with stunning views of St.Austell Bay ,
The Carclaze is within walking distance which is always a bonus for lovely food at a reasonable price
You Can always guarantee a good nights sleep & excellent service at the Premier inn St.Austell . If your thinking of staying here then you won’t be disappointed .

This was not the best experience for us in a Premier Inn. The room had a very unpleasant fusty smell and had no heating in the bathroom. This was a very large wet room area, obviously designed for disabled access (which we did not require) and having no heating it was very cold in a November for taking a shower. The bed was not the comfiest, which was disappointing, as this is something you can usually rely on in a Premier Inn. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. We ate at the attached Chancery restaurant and this was also not a great experience. I had a steak and although it was cooked to my liking it was luke warm, tough and chewy. The peas were very cold and the chips and onion rings were again luke warm. I expect hot food and this meal did not come up to scratch, it was certainly not worth what it cost. The breakfast was a little better, but once again the food could have been hotter. The fried eggs in particular were very cold. I know its a buffet style breakfast but for what people are paying in these restaurants they should do more to keep the food hot while it is sitting on the trays etc.

Initially turned up as a family with two small kids at 14:10 in the afternoon, with a horizontal rain outside, only to be told if we want to check in early, it will be £10...50 minutes, £10. No thanks. Took them to the harbour, sat in the car and watched the sea & rain. Bought tea and cake costing £20 from a local stall, was delicious. Would rather give my money to them than to Premier Inn.
Pros
Check-in was quick.
Room was clean.
Bed was comfy.
Pub is next door
Cons
Hot water in first room came out looking like wee water, after somebody hadn't drank for hours on a sunny day. Brown and yellow. See pic. Sorted after 30-40 mins
Internet is practically unusable. So slow, it's like a late 90s broadband connection. Pay £5 and you can have faster broadband (not sure how quick). Don't think they have got with the times and still feel like the are competing with the likes of Travelodge, rather than most other hotels that offer fast internet for free. However, strong 4g-5g, so just used my phone.
Shower of new room was a trickle. Think they have issues with plumbing
Place looks like it hasn't had an external refresh for quite a few years.
Breakfast and dinner were good, though nothing memorable.
All in all, there was nothing particularly premier about our stay in Premier Inn. Will look for independent hotels next time.

Stayed 4 nights. A perfect place for visiting the Eden Project and south Cornwall. We had glitches with a few things in our room on arrival but they were very quickly put right by Alisha on reception. The room was on the road side as I had asked for a sea view, which was lovely to see. But for anyone wanting quiet nights with the window open, the carpark side would be quieter. All staff were great in the hotel, housekeeping were very accommodating with extra towels , tea coffee etc.
Restaurant is a short outside walk away from the hotel so if it's raining take a brolly. Food mmmm ? Not hot enough, Not tasty enough. So we only had breakfast a second time on our last day for the long journey home. Didn't want to eat there in the evenings, instead drove ten minutes to St Austell and got take out from an excellent Chinese on East Hill, "Chung Hing" and Fish n chips cooked in beef dripping from "Francine's" on Clifden Rd. Both meals, cooked to our order, both delicious with huge portions and still red hot when we got back to our room. Charlestown is a lovely little interesting village, there is a cake shop up the hill from the car park with decent portions and prices.

The room was in a quiet location. Bed was comfy and we slept well. Plenty of plug sockets in the room BUT none beside the bed so we couldn't rest on bed looking at fones whilst charging them!
Shower was ok, nice big bath towels.
We had breakfast which was at the pub next door, I can only describe it as a right shambles. We went at 09.30 and there was no fruit juice, coffee, clean bowls. The hot tray was almost empty - no beans, eggs, sausages, no veggie sausages, tables hadn't been cleared, couldn't find any cutlery. Eventually these things were replenished but it was too late for us. It's a shame because we had had a nice vegetarian meal there the night before for my birthday, with excellent service.
We recently stayed in a Travelodge in York and it was far superior. The rooms had coffee pod machines, hot choc sachets, biscuits plus sockets by bed. Their breakfast was constantly being replenished and offered veggie sausages, so in future Travelodge will be our choice.

Having telephoned beforehand (finally getting through to the front desk after several attempts) to request a sea view room, I was instead allocated a small room at the back of the hotel. Although in the new style of decor (nicer lights and bathroom tiling), the wood structure floors of the wing made it sound like a herd of elephants was staying above me. In addition, the room had an adjoining door to another room, with no sound insulation, so the stay was far from peaceful and quiet. However the stairs by the reception area had a first floor window where you could see the sea.
Breakfast was busy - out of stock of some items eg berries, granola. The dining room is very pleasant, but if it is raining take an umbrella for walking to/from the hotel building (I got very wet in a sudden downpour).
There is sadly zero chance of a room make-over during your stay, the hotel being very busy with early summer visitors. This said, I would definitely stay again.

This is one of the older decorated Premier Inns with no air conditioning and outdated bedroom and bathroom fixtures and fittings with the old energy saving light fittings that take an age to come on :/
Carpets are stained in places and the bath blackened on the textured nonslip base of the bath where people stand to have shower…wouldn’t want a bath in it!
There are a few bedrooms facing front that may have spectacular views across the coast but the majority face a over lit car park which as we wanted air flow into the room and had to keep the curtains partially open was very annoying
Room are extremely hot and although night time temperatures were 6 degrees outside at night we could not get the rooms lower than 19 degrees. This because the windows only open a few small way. A fan was provided but it didn’t improve the situation much.
There’s nothing much in Calcaze so you’ll need transport if your planning eating beyond the in house restaurant.
Breakfast was as expected although they seem to have dropped a few items from the menu presumably as a cost saving exercise but as ever it’s pretty good value
All the staff were very polite and helpful

It’s no good having a comfy bed if you cannot sleep a wink because all the rooms are so hot. The whole hotel was scorching even though it was only 18 degrees outside . Goodness knows what it was like in the summer. No air con. Windows open no more than a couple of inches and on a slant so impossible to cool the room at all. They were so aware of the problem they provided a fan in every room which was ineffective and notices saying we could request sheets rather than duvet! Almost No sleep in the 3 nights I was there. They either need to get air con or at least change windows to fully opening. Also the reception area v small so no where to sit out of the room. Floor boards are incredibly creaky and I heard every footstep of my upstairs as well as next door neighbours. Lastly the pub attached has serious staffing issues and was full each night so nowhere to eat. I checked it out and it was not full - half empty. According to a recent staff member they cannot get staff so do not book out the tables. Not my usual good premier inn experience to say the least.
If you really must go then fyi it is located on a small business estate about 2 miles out of town. No facilities nearby other than a daytime cafe called niles (which is a small chain and actually very good. Lovely people.) Hotel Rooms at the back to the north have less traffic noise. Those on the south side have a distant view of the sea but probably even hotter as south facing.

There are ground floor rooms, if you select a disability room when booking?
I can't answer the question, except to say, maybe go onto the website and call the hotel direct. The staff are sooo lovely I'm sure they will answer your question and ensure you are looked after when you arrive. Enjoy your stay, and best wishes from our family to yours.
I can only speak from our experience, but they were outstanding when we were there in July.
