I traveled with my family. And i wanted an getaway from the rush and we were in for a treat. The place is very spacious, well maintained and super comforting. I liked the huge family room we got, large living area and furniture and the garden that's well maintained. The food and service was quite a treat. I loved Iresha's home cooked meals; yummy pudding and soup. Mostly I loved the place as it is free from all types of pollution, no noises, no emissions. I can't wait to get back for another getaway.

I have just returned from another visit to this wonderful place. Pantiya is really quite fantastic, Nowhere before have I heard the sound of silence which is only broken by the sound of birds singing . Ireasha and Helmut are the most hospitable of who have become friends and they made our stay just perfect. The food is to die for and the beds comfortable the water is hot the pool is super . There are several dogs around who are really friendly. The views from the from of the house are spectacular.I will be returning again and again.

Beautiful place, located in the middle of hils close to Colombo. What a dissapointment when we found it closed, despite our earlier reservation (paid online) and nobody was around. Eventually local person who did not speak English informed my driver that the place was closed and the owner left in the morning. There are two contact numbers for the place but both were not operational. Huge disapointment as the place was realy charming...

Dear Madam, Thank you so much for booking our property. We are absolutely gutted that we couldnt host you and your family to stay with us at The Bungalow. We were on holiday in the UK to for my grand daughter's first birthday, and realised that you had made an automatic booking on Agoda the night before you arrived. We thought all our booking channels were closed as we had informed everyone that we will not be operating during this time until 20 September. Due to time differences we couldnt manage to contact you or inform you of the situation in advance either. I hope you received your funds back from Agoda, whom we immediately informed to issue a refund once we found out. It is such a shame that we missed each other, it would have been lovely to have youll here and im sure the kids would have enjoyed it too. IF you would ever like to come back, please send us an email and hopefully we can meet then, as I believe you are located in Sri Lanka. Best regards, Iresha.

Natasha and Helmut were wonderful hosts! It was our first time to Sri Lanka, and although only a very short stay (extended layover actually), we chose to escape the hustle and bustle of Colombo and venture to the mountains. The property itself is gorgeous - sweeping views of the valleys, lush rainforest, many fruit trees, and animals galore.. several adorable dogs (and their puppies!), bunnies, cats and wild monkeys. We enjoyed wandering the property and chatting with the friendly plantation workers, playing with the dogs and cooling down in the pool. Now comes the food... WOW. What an incredible spread the wonderful chefs served up for us each and every time. Typical Sri Lankan curries, fish dishes, vegetables and various starches. Natasha and Helmut were extremely considerate and catered to our hungry bellies and curious tastebuds. It's worth venturing into town to poke your way through the little food stands but make sure to leave enough room for dinner at the Bungalow. Thank you Helmut & Natasha for the many wonderful and insightful conversations around the table!

We enjoyed this estate bungalow very much. The drive up to the bungalow needs a high vehicle ideally a 4-4 though we managed the drive in a saloon car. Natascha is a lovely host & went out of her way to make our stay comfortable & even perhaps overfed us during meal time & tea. The estate is in the hills of Matugama & is very serene with numerous birds & the occasional monkey & wild boar visitors. Thoroughly enjoyed the bird song at dusk & early morning & also the waterfall called Makeli Ella perhaps 15 miles away. We will certainly like to go back to Natacha's estate again on our next visit to beautiful Srilanka

Having lived, worked and travelled abroad all our lives, we have never returned anywhere so happily and so frequently as we have to The Bungalow and we intend to return again next year. The basics of holiday comfort are all there waiting for us: a comfortable bed, functional bathroom and immaculate pool. Its the unquantifiable extras that draw us back: the peaceful environment, the care and consideration everyone at the Bungalow shows and the freshness and variety of the food. I know Iresha is keen to make small improvements on the material side of things, and is doing so, but she really doesn't need to compete with the corporate and mass tourist experience: there is surely room for many different offerings in the world of hospitality and this is the one we would choose. Whether we were visiting with friends and family or staying just as B&B guests amongst strangers we have had the happiest and most relaxing times in the bungalow at Pantiya. If you want to know more details please do look at my two previous reviews and if you are considering a multi-generation, family get-together do consider the bungalow.

From being given lovely flowers on our arrival to receiving bags of spices from the estate on our departure, our stay at the Pantiya Bungalow was a wonderful experience. A bumpy 20 minute ride up a roughly made road is rewarded by the sight of a secluded colonial house in the middle of a tea and rubber estate, with beautiful gardens and an inviting swimming pool. The rooms were simple but comfortable and the food always freshly made and delicious. But what made it most special was the very friendly and helpful owners who made us feel so at home in their home. Thank you Ireesha, Helmut and Natascha x

Our family (two adults and two girls aged 11 and 9) stayed here for three days just after Christmas. We enjoyed this experience so much - a wonderful setting in the middle of the jungle. After the journey up to the Estate - which we enjoyed - we were welcomed by lovely Natascha. She made us feel immediately at home. The place is very special. The girls loved the animals, we spotted monkeys and birds of paradise. The pool was great for them. Food - wow - the tastiest food ever - we chose curry every night and for the children they had fried chicken, noodles and other great tasty meals that were not too spicy for them. We went on a couple of local sightseeing trips which Natascha organised. We also loved spending the time at the Estate and we had a tour and even helped make rubber. In short - I don't usually leave reviews but felt this place really was worthwhile writing about - I came upon this doing a Google search and a trip advisor search - the reviews were great and we are so very glad we decided to stay here at the end of our trip. Overall a place you really have to experience. Thank you Natascha and Ajith for making our family so very welcome - the girls miss you and still talk about you all.

Don't be fooled by the 'estate bungalow' concept promoted on their website. For starters, the place lacks the 'cook appu' (a chef of exceptional culinary skills that usually works on local estate bungalows). Not only was the food terrible, but it was obvious the management was trying to make 200% profit: a dinner menu of rice and curry entailed just two curries and a plate of rice, twice we were served food that had gone off, and the kiribath was terribly under-cooked and lacked the 'kiri' (coconut milk). Had it not been for the pool, any visitor can be fooled into thinking the place is designed for backpackers/budget travellers. No, not because the rates are low (cos they are NOT!) but because the roadway is not motorable and because the rooms had bare minimum amenities.

Dear guest We are disappointed to hear that your experience with us was far from perfect. Thank you for your comments - we will work on rectifying our mistakes to avoid any of these from happening in future. We try to keep our rates competitive with the soaring costs in Sri Lanka, but can assure you that we are not in the business to make the profit margins you have suggested. This is a family-run, private bungalow where we do our best to offer our guests a local, personalised service. We are sorry we came short on your expectations. Best wishes for 2016, Iresha

We wanted to spend a few days away from tourists, among local people, somewhere with a clean swimming pool, beautiful garden and places great fot trips. But at the same time we wanted to have a good service a privacy. This accomodation was exactly what we were looking for, it met all our wishes!! The garden is amazing, quiet, with lots of fruit trees, tea bushes, rubber trees, birds and monkeys. Natascha, the owner, showed us how to work with cinamon, rubber tree, she took us to the local school, to the temple for Poya Day, every day she prepared a wonderful dinner with many kinds of meals. In the evening we could speak with her and her husband about the life in Sri Lanka, we learned a lot of things. They also helped us to arrange our sightseeing trip. The accomodation is not luxury, but still nice and suficient. But the service and the surroundings are absolutely gorgeous !! Our children loved the stay in this bungalow. Thank you Natascha and Helmut, hope to see you again. Lenka, Filip, Filipek, Anezka
