The hotel El Horcajo is located within the boundary of Grazalema Natural Park. The park encompasses the western section of the Cordillera mountain range and is at an altitude of between 250m and 1654m above sea level. Hotel El Horcajo Ronda Entorno The Park has an area of over 50,000 Hectares and has been declared a UNESCO 'Biosphere Reserve'. It is also designated by the EC as an area of special protection for birds. The park is a botanist's dream, boasting an exceptional richness of flora. There is an area of natural forest of the Spanish fir-Abies pinsapa - which is a remnant of the forest which covered the region during the last glaciation. Such an area is found nowhere else in Spain. The species has been in existence since the Tertiary period and are known as "living fossils". The other vegetation in the park, such as cork oak and the wide variety of beautiful wild flowers, is distinctly Mediterranean. There is plenty of wildlife, including mountain goats, foxes and roe deer; and birds like the common vulture (one of the largest colonies in Europe, in fact), the osprey eagle and the golden eagle. The park is on the migration route for birds flying south from Northern Europe to Africa. Eagles can be frequently spotted in the park. Hotel El Horcajo Ronda Entorno From a geological point of view the park belongs to the Cordillera betica. On the western perimeter of the park are found three important caves. The Cueva del Hundidero, Cueva del Gato and Cueva de la Pileta. The natural Park of Grazalema is a nature lover's paradise. Interesting to note is the fact that the park has its own microclimate, with some areas recording the highest average rainfall in Spain. This is due to the absence of any significant mountains to the west. When the wind blows from the Atlantic in the west, these are the first mountains the humid air meets. The effect is very localized with some zones of the park recording three times the rainfall of other nearby points.

Hotel El Horcajo is down a steep winding road in a valley south of Zahara, one of the White Villages. There are adobe rooms surrounding the main part of the hotel, each with small patios which I imagine would be restful in the summer. The rooms are quite spartin with no attempt to put in more than a couch and one table. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom so so with a strange smell at times. It advertises as a working fatm but there are no animals to see. There is seating in the main lodge with a fireplace which was nice. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was ok but nothing special for a *** rating. We enjoyed the stay ad an exoerience but it did not live up to our 'working farm' expectations.

We stayed at El Horcajo in early October for one night. It was beautiful and very peaceful location and was a welcoming and charming place to stay.
It is situated half an hour from Ronda and it's a world apart. The farm is in a valley surrounded by the mountains. It's a wonderful place to base yourself for the area to visit the White Villages and take hikes and walks, which are endless.
The staff couldn't be more friendly and and the evening meals are excellent.
The pool was well-kept and it was a unique experience to swim to the sound of goats and sheeps.
We would happily return!

We stayed at El Horcajo in late september for a week. It was in a beautiful and very peaceful location and was a welcoming and charming place to stay. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the evening meals were excellent. Even though it was 35 degrees the rooms in the hotel remained cool, despite lack of air conditioning. The pool was well-kept and it was a unique experience to swim to the sounds of chickens and pigs (no horses though!) We would happily return.

This is a very beautiful location in the middle of nature. We loved the nature and the hotel area. But this is not a 3 star hotel. Rooms were old, dirty and there are spiders and bugs everywhere. Food was the biggest disappointment. This is so called “tasty local foods”. Breakfast is also very basic.

This one is the best.We checked it out for 1 night and we stayed for 3.It is situated half an hour from Ronda, and it is a world apart. The farm is in a valley sorrounded by mountains. It is a most wonderful place to base yourself for the area and take hikes and walks, which are endless. The chef was on vacation, but nevertheless the staff did their best to put up a meal to satisfy those guests ,who did not want to venture out.It is the kind of place were you can do a lot or nothing. There is a blazing fire in the evening(November-right?) and the whole place exudes relaxation. The rooms are basic but nice with all the amenities.Bathrooms are clean and there are even small patios for every room.Highly recommended.

We stayed here as a break from touring Barcelona and then Cordoba. The location is idyllic and the hotel has so much character. We used it as a base for touring the Sierra De La Grazelama and Ronda areas. Follow the directions given by the hotel and you will have no difficulty finding the El Horcajo but if you contact them they will give you GPS data.

This is not a fancy resort but it does have a pool and a restaurant where we had breakfast and dinner everyday. The food was good and reasonably priced, the staff were pleasant and helpful.

The plumbing was a little eccentric but this was not a major problem and we highly recommend the El Horcajo.

Lovely hotel. In the middle of nowhere (you have to like that). You really need a car. It is a bit diffucult to find, but it really can be done. Nice pool. It's inside a nature area, so very nice, nice views

Small and rustic rural hotel. Converted stables for 4 people are the best option.Great bar area and lounge although hotel provides no food options apart from breakfast and the set dinner.
16 euros for set dinner that has to be booked by 3pm the same day.A choice of 2 courses, simple but not bad quality.Quiet pool area that needs some updating but was very relaxing.10 minutes by car to nearest shop and 20 minutes by car to Ronda where there is a good selection of restaurants.
A high 3 star rating and great value.

We had great expectations of this hotel. We stayed here 1 night and overall it was really okay; the weahter was great so we could relax at the pool and also the rooms aver very comfortable. However of such a place you expect that the staff is friendly, can give you some information about the surroudings and is able to smile. Unfortunately this was not the case and they gave us the feeling not to be very welcome. The breakfast was the worst we had in our whole week during our trip; the coffee was cold (and however they have a good espresso machine they serve at the breakfast filter coffee) and very poor.
We got the feeling that the hotel is run by some amateurs (farmers) and a course of customer friendliness would really help a lot.

Your question was addressed to the hotel. I am just a former guest there (a month ago). I think breakfast was included. No idea about discounts for children. I think I recall that Ronda was about half an hour away. Google maps can tell you. We liked El Horcajo very much, and I think its rates were a very good value. The countryside is beautiful there, too.
