My wife and I decided to book a meal and a room for a night as we were visiting friends in the area the next day. We booked a 'best' room and were not disappointed. It was in an annexe building across the road and looks very modern from the outside which may not be what some people are after....

Nice bedroom, Clean, Tidy and quiet, despite being on a main road Lovely Reastaurant, A lot bigger than I was expecting So busier than I was expecting But not too busy that my requests weren't met. In Fact nothing was too much trouble. Great Service by busy staff. Breakfast was equally well serviced by Great Staff. Well-Done to all.

Was invited by friends to sausage supper meal at the restaurant. It was very busy despite being a Tuesday evening. We got 2 sausages on a small flat mound of mash with an onion gravy. It came with a shared bowl of broccoli and carrots. The sausages were apparently made on site and were excellent, the gravy very tasty and...

Another great experience of excellent service and outstanding food. This was the first time for dinner, only done lunch before. Also stayed overnight. The rooms are warm and cosy, very comfortable, great beds and very nice and fresh bathroom. Very nicely appointed. Would love to stay there again!

We were here for a good value night stop B&B deal. Although the bar was busy we were greeted warmly and immediately taken to our lodging which was 50yds along the road. The room had all required facilities and the bathroom was newly fitted and immaculate. A nice touch was a signed copy of Jamie Oliver's Superfoods book, free gratis,...

Stayed at the Cricketers the night before our wedding at end of January. Accommodation is lovely and clean and very comfortable which was great for us. We occupied several rooms over 2 nights between family and other guests and particularly liked the Dinner offer included in the room rate. It's incredibly good value and the food was delicious! Only downside...

We actually did not stay here due to illness. Since we had to cancel within the 48hr window we were not able to get refund. But the hotel came back to us and said they were able to sell the rooms to other customers and therefore would refund us (instead of keeping a double fee). Without us pushing for it....

We arrived at the Cricketers on a Friday afternoon. We went into the pub which was really lovely! Staff were really friendly and loved the cricket ball with the room key attached, quirky idea but fun. Our room was across the road from the pub no20. It was lovely, very spacious and a large bathroom. Included in our deal was...

We were on The Telegraph deal. This represents very good value for money. All the staff at The Cricketers were absolutely charming and very helpful - there were just some aspects which did not live up to our expectations. The Cricketers was originally a very pretty, but very small pub. It has been subjected to a huge extension and the...
