Detailed Reviews
What a fabulous overnight stay we enjoyed at The Swallows Rest. Sam our host took the time to communicate with us en route via email to provide us with choices for eating out at local restaurants. We went with her recommendation for The Red Lion, around ten minutes drive away (18£) in a taxi. Wow, what a recommendation.
On arrival, Sam greeted us on the drive and showed us to our room. (Willow). What a fabulous room, spacious, amazing, comfy bed and perfectly decorated and best of all home made cookies on arrival!!!
My partner took a soak in the fabulous roll top bath. The bathroom had “wow factor!”
We took the opportunity to view all 3 rooms as we were the only guests staying on the particular night. Each room was of equal high standard.
Sam explained everything, asking us to select items for breakfast the following morning and then left us to relax.
All the bedding, and towels are of the highest standard you’d see in any 5 star hotel.
Breakfast was of equal high standard. Porridge, fresh fruit, overnight oats, home made bread, croissants and fresh yoghurt.
This place is pure perfection and well worthy of all the accolades earned within the hospitality industry.
I’d recommend contacting the host direct for unbeatable prices.
The pictures don’t do this place justice. 5 STARS

My son and I stayed in The Swallows Rest for one night, we were allocated The Willow Room. The beautiful decor, cleanliness and comfort levels are second to none. The attention to detail and thought and care that has been put into the room is very high. Comfortable bed, fabulous bath and shower, absolutely huge bath towels and even under floor heating in the bathroom. We were provided with good quality toiletry products, delicious cookies on the guest tea/coffee tray and really helpful information about where to eat. We decided on getting a takeaway and Sam laid the table and took our rubbish away. The B&B is in a very pretty village and the room was quiet and the thick curtains ensured it was dark at night. Slept very well. We could not have been looked after better. Thank you

My partner and I stayed at Swallows Rest for one night and from the moment we walked in, we were already planning our next trip here for a few weeks later. Sam was incredibly welcoming and accommodating of food allergies, the rooms were stunning and very clean, we felt very comfortable here particularly in the current climate of COVID-19. We couldn't fault one thing about our time in Swallows Rest. Definitely recommend Swallows Rest.

I can only reiterate what all the other reviews have to say. It is probably one of the best B&B's around.
We stayed on a very windy March night but had no worries as everything was warm and cosy in the Garden Room. There was also underfloor heating in the bathroom where there was a lovely walk in shower and a separate roll top bath, both offering piping hot water.
The room was lovely and quite with no noisy neighbours to contend with. There was even a fridge in the breakfast room where you could get fresh milk, cans of pop or chocolate.
All in all a lovely place to stay.
We will have no hesitation in making a return visit so we can enjoy the garden and watch the sun go down on a warm summer evening.
WELL DONE SAM

I agree, there really is nothing nicer than watching the sun go down in the garden with the vineyard in the distance! Really pleased you felt so at home here. Look forward to seeing you back here again sometime. Best regards, Sam

We should have been getting married on the day we spent at Swallows Rest. Because of the uncertainty around Covid we had to move our wedding date but decided to mark the occasion with a stay away, just the two of us.
We booked with Swallows Rest. Immediately, Sam was in touch with helpful, kind and welcoming correspondence on how to find them, what provisions had been made and generally making us feel welcome.
We arrived and were met by a smiling and wonderful Sam who made us feel very much like returning friends despite this being our first visit.
After a short tour and some local landmarks pointed out, we were very much left to our own devices.
Our room was delightful, we were greeted by two home cooked, fresh chocolate cookies, a lovely big bed, beautifully prepared with satin soft sheets that were just wonderful to sleep in.
The facilities were excellent with a beautiful big bath - we enjoyed a soak together (plenty of room for two comfortably and I’m quite a tall lad) with some bubbles in a glass and a romantic end to our evening having been out for dinner in one of the local villages. Equally, there was a lovely large shower that quite frankly you could fit a rugby team into, if for what ever reason baths aren’t your style.
We were invited to leave out an order for breakfast in the morning and a time we would like it to be prepared for. I ordered egg on toast and coffee, my fiancée ordered beans on toast. Now, I was half expecting somewhere in the excellence we’d seen so far for there to be a snag and I was very much proven wrong. Sam delivered, at the time requested (to the minute) our breakfast. Instead of soggy Hovis medium slice with some powdered, reconstituted eggy mess on top I was delivered two beautifully poached eggs on home made fresh bread. The coffee was perfect and my fiancées beans on toast had similarly been prepared with diligence and care.
There genuinely wasn’t anything about Swallows Rest we didn’t love - if you’re looking for a beautiful venue, in a stunning, quiet corner of the English countryside to spend some time, get yourself down to Swallows Rest.

This was our 4th annual stay whilst we attend a weekend Bible study conference in Kettering. The three bedrooms are completely separate from each other so there is no chance of fellow guests loud TVs or snoring disturbing you! The rooms are modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Sam is a friendly, efficient host without being intrusive. Her lovely breakfasts set you up for the day and she is happy to book a local restaurant/pub for your evening meal if you wish. We cannot fault Swallows Rest and God Willing will be back next March.

Tucked away in a rural village, Sam works very hard to make your stay seem effortless. With the accommodation carefully designed for your comfort, Sam has managed to tick every box you could ever wish for. She is the perfect host, there whenever you need her, but disappearing into the ether to let you enjoy your stay in peace. If we could give it 20/10 we would! Such a lovely place to stay, and will be back…

My wife and I stayed at ‘The Swallow’s Rest’ to break our journey both travelling to and returning from the Lake District - it’s a 2.5 hour drive from where we live in Kent. We had been recommended to stay here by friends and we knew already that we would be very well looked after in the most comfortable of settings. Prior to our stay, Sam contacted me to see whether I wanted her to book a table at a nearby restaurant for dinner. As expected her suggestions were first class. It was a pleasure to meet Sam in the beautiful garden to the rear of the property, enjoying a homemade cookie with a cup of tea, taking in the rural idyll. Each room is tastefully furnished and extremely well equipped with top quality fixtures and fittings. The bathrooms are presented in pristine order. We enjoyed our weekday continental breakfast as well as the weekend offer of a full English.
Brigstock is a quintessentially English village, with a small number of shops, a pub and various community facilities. We enjoyed pottering around when we first arrived to discover its charms.
We had a very pleasant chat with one of Sam’s daughters who, like Sam, was charming and welcoming. We look forward to staying again in the future should our travel plans permit.

I received a warm welcome on arrival and was taken to a beautiful room, tastefully decorated. The bed was enormous and exceptional comfortable, the bathroom had under floor. The bedding & towels were good quality. There was a well stocked 'honestly' mini bar in the wardrobe, a selection of 'nice' tea & coffee bags with fast boil kettle and fresh milk in the fridge.
I choose to have breakfast in the dining room, although I could have taken it in my room and that was lovely too

The Swallows Rest was one of the best B&B experiences I have enjoyed. From reception to leaving the Family staff were very friendly and very professional. The rooms and everything in them were to a very high standard, including the brew making kit and complimentary water. The selection at breakfast was excellent, the full english was super and made from local produce from the village.👍👏👏👏👏😃
