We often pass the Beresford Arms when out and about and it looks a very inviting country pub. Sadly whenever we've gone in we've been disappointed with the interior it just wasn't a comfortable layout and the menu expensive. Whenever it's changed hands we'd try again but it never seemed much different, until now, now it has a relaxed and...

Went here on Tuesday for dinner. Nice dining room with extremely pleasant waitress and lovely tartan carpet ! There is also a separate dining area called The Stables but we ate in the pub, in a room off the main stage area. Menu is varied and inexpensive. Good wine list, again not too expensive. We had garlic mushrooms and prawn cocktail...

The pub itself looks promising from the outside in a lovely village setting, the restaurant inside looks like a cheap garage conversion. The staff were friendly enough. My husband ordered a steak priced at £15.95, this came with horrible frozen chips and the meat was leathery and not medium rare as he'd asked. I ordered the Mexican fish pie, the...

The pub is as you say in a lovely village, and our gardens are well manicured in keeping with the village. You dined in 'The Stables' restaurant which I understand when created several years ago (way before our time here) offered something different for the locals and other visitors. Sorry it's not to your taste, however I don't understand why...

I stayed at the Beresford Arms with my partner whilst visiting friends in the area and it was an absolute gem of a place to stay. The pub/restaurant had a great range of food & ales and the quality was outstanding. The service provided by the staff was quick & attentive and the owners, Paul & Angela, made the whole...

We enjoyed a great meal yesterday with the family. Six adults and three children. We were made to feel very welcome. There was a good choice on the menu from beefburgers (which one of our kids enjoyed), gammon and chicken to duck and rabbit pie. Great service, very friendly and we felt really comfortable and relaxed. Food was delicious and...

Stayed for one night in this lovely and charming B&B last week with my wife and 5 year old son. The village of Whalton itself is quite small and very peaceful but is only a few minutes drive from the town of Morpeth or around 20 minutes drive from Newcastle. The room was a double but large enough to accommodate...

I travel around the country every week and cover 1000s of miles. I'm always on the lookout for friendly service and good food. Passing close by Whalton recently I checked Tripadvisor and thought this place looked like a good bet for lunch. i wasn't wrong. Food quality is important to me as my son is a chef in a very...

Visited with a group of friends. Clean and comfy room, great variety of choice on the dinner menu, opted for the beresford burger which was one of the best burgers I have had. Good choice of real ales at the bar. Owners made us all feel very welcome, will definitely be visiting again when planning next trip up to Newcastle.

Called in on a quiet Tuesday lunch time with my son. Ordered two 'Beresford Burgers' which were outstanding. Huge portion of salad and freshly hand cut chips served with the locally produced burger which was stacked with home made onion rings and a tasty side relish. Lovely friendly staff and a great selection of beers and soft drinks. Hungry son...
