We stayed in a cottage nearby and had three breakfasts and two dinners at the Spread Eagle Inn. Two of the breakfasts were indifferent with overcooked, microwaved dry scrambled eggs but the third breakfast was excellent with the eggs cooked perfectly - was this due to a different duty chef? The dinners were indifferent. On the first night I had...

It was late afternoon and they had obviously been busy. There were few tables cleared from dirty plates or glasses. We found 2 smaller tables and pushed them together as we were only having drinks and crisps. We sat then noticed a smelly, sticky fluid under our table. We asked for a mop but were told curtly that bar staff...

Impromptu Sunday Lunch 6th November 2016. Horrendously busy but they squeezed us in. Sunday Roast with a sweet and two drinks 36 pounds. Well kept pint, service exemplary, cheerful and quick. Food not gourmet but good standard pub roast, plenty of it. Plenty of vegetables. Lovely view from window. At this price every hard to fault. We enjoyed it.

Enjoyed one night's stay in Room 5. Lovely large room, very peaceful and comfortable. Perfect location set within the Stourhead Estate. Weather was against us but still managed to enjoy a relaxing stay with somewhat damp walk around the estate. Lunch / dinner / breakfast all of great standard. Hope to visit again and would definitely recommend.

If you plan to visit Stourhead, stay at the Spread Eagle. There are 4 reasons. First, as with any good B&B, the staff is very nice and helpful, and the rooms are charming. Second, the inn is located right at Stourhead. On land owned by the National Trust who manages the garden and mansion, it is situated between the garden...

My 4 yr old complained that the chips tasted horrible, now thats saying something! - it was because they were fried in rancid, Stale oil, not a difficult thing to get right really. We went for Sunday lunch but they had "run out of the roast" & I didn't want ham eggs "n" chips, so, I was forced to have...

This is a lovely traditional inn on the Stourhead estate. You pay a premium price but you get a lovely cozy room with en-suite in a pub in the beautiful and quiet environs of the Stourhead estate. The service is very friendly and the restaurant offers really nice food. We stayed 2 nights and ate at the restaurant both nights...

The inn rooms are very cosy and the advantage of going in to the gardens 24hours is great . We had room 2 this time and have to say the bed may be authentic but is realy uncomfortable . As usual the service and welcome of the staff is impeccable. So the morale if story you must stay here if...

We stayed here because it is on the Stourhead garden estate. If you stay here you can walk the grounds before and after visiting hours and have it virtually to yourself. This is one of the best landscape gardens in England, filled with bridges, temples and grottos. The room was large and comfortable with a big window facing the woods...

This review is for a light lunch . Fantastic location x 100% We visited on a sunny day , it was not too busy, but I can see if busy some unfounded negative comments. It is small and has to deal with a huge number of people on a busy day...it cannot , it is small, and I suggest it...
