Overnight on an Intrepid tour. Interesting program educating young Indonesians about the environment. All organic, no chemicals operation. Our meals were very tasty albeit limited in choice. Our accommodation was a small villa with outside bathroom. Quite acceptable but could do with a fan as a bit hot. Biggest negative was no hot water, not even water out of the tap. A dribbling cold water shower is a big turn off and I would not recommend until this changed. Mosquito net over bed but repellent required when outside. Good to support a worthwhile undertaking but creature comforts need improvement.
We stayed here as part of our Intrepid Jakarta to Ubud tour. The villas are basic with outside bathrooms but are comfortable. The best part of our stay was the food which was all organic and was very tasty.
Visited as part of an Intrepid tour of Indonesia after coming from Yogyakarta and on the way to Mt Bromo. It's a nice little place actually. We had dinner when we arrived and then we also had breakfast and lunch included. All of the food was fantastic. Our room was fine, fairly comfortable. Visit to the village was interesting and seeing the nature and gardens on a guided walk. Staff were really friendly. It was a nice place to visit, enjoyed it.
I stayed here when I was on a group tour with Intrepid Travel (An Australian tour operator based in Melbourne), so I do not really know how much this hotel cost if you book it as independent travelers. We were on our way from Yogyakarta and Mt. Bromo (the two most important tourist sites in the whole Java, I think) and stayed here for only 1 night. Compared to other lousy or mediocre hotels we stayed before reaching Seloliman, I would say this is a much nicer and more refreshing place. This is the first hotel we stayed that actually offers mosquito nets. Interestingly, possibly because of higher altitude and the season (I think it is Autumn in May for Java), there were not really many mosquitoes here, compared to Yogyakarta and Pangandaran. The bathroom/toilet is outdoor but remains private (there are walls that keep from outside.) In our stay, all meals are included. Though all dishes are basic home cooking, they are delicious. Pretty much more than half of dishes are vegetarian, for which I really appreciated. The staff also took us for a nature walk and village visit. The walk and the visit were pleasant and mildly educational, though nothing special. After lunch, we also watch demonstration of herbal tea making. I would say it is a very pleasant stay. The location is quaint but the mountain scenery here is not spectacular. However, it is a convenient getaway from big city hustle of Surabaya (only a couple hours away). It is also a nice mid-point stop between Yogyakarta and Mt. Bromo.…
Stayed as part of a group, so can't comment on value Positive Fantastic setting Outside bathrooms interesting Interesting Lodge tour/walk that the staff can take you on Negatives No aircon (was a tad hot at night)
