The rooms look nothing like the pictures on the website. The place is unkept! They are understaffed. Good food. But they have a lights out time!!! (11.00 pm) so we were forced to stay in the dark for two nights. 😠

You should bring along some faible for Kenya's colonial history to make the most of your stay in this moorish hotel on a solitary hilltop in the Taveta plains. An eagle's nest, overlooking Ewart Grogan's former sisal estates up to Lake Jipe, towards Kilimanjaro and the Taita Hills. The "castle" is the most visible legacy of the adventurous and controversial...

Grogan Castle is located on top of a hill, yes right on top!! Has amazing views of Lake Jipe from Cl Grogan's Historic Room. Majestic view of Kilimanjaro on a clear day and the views go on. Has a cute plunge pool to cool of the Taveta heat! #0min from Taveta town. Large rooms and good home cooked food. My...

we originally booked for 1 night and extended to 2 nights. We had the place to ourselves and though we arrived a day earlier than expected that staff were very friendly and nothing was too much of a problem. The meal they conjured up in no time was excellent. Admittedly the building could do with a lick of paint and...

we stayed 2 nights with our kids. Overall the place is old and unkept. Needs a clean! Staff is friendly but with no supervision. I found them many times sitting in the kitchen (which was not clean at all). Would not go back or recommend.

When travelers flee from the mainstream glitzy hotels, experiencing an oasis such as Grogan's Castle is a rewarding experience. Friendly staff is all around and at the same time invisible -- Rhisper ( I thought her name was Whisper from her speech ), the ever smiling , quick and delicate go to gal around the place and of course Basil...

We loved this place! It's in the middle of nowhere (over 6 hours from Nairobi, the last two hours down a rough dirt road - don't believe the owner that it's a 5 hour drive), in a surprisingly green, pretty patch of Kenya. The ambiance is old-fashioned, quirky and funky. We loved the incredible views; the historical readings about Ewart Grogan...

We had a great time at Grogan's castle. The food was fabulous, staff very friendly, the castle has a rich history which we enjoyed reading about. The castle is tranquil and ideal for getting away from the bustle of the city life. Within reach of various attractions including Lake Jipe, Tsavo West National Park, Salaita Hill (World War 1 battlefield-...

We had a great time in Grogans Castle! All the staff made us feel like Royals! Food was lovely and the views have been great. Amazing feeling to spend time in such a historic place! If you can- try to sleep in Mr.Grogans original bed in room No.1. I can recommend that you visit Lake Chala and Lake Jipe from...
