We enjoyed our first stay very much and had no hesitation in booking a second trip. From the terrace ths year we were able to watch red kites and swallows, green woodpeckers and mistle thrushes - brilliant. The house is easy cycling distance from Lyndon bird reserve on Rutland water where ospreys are almost guaranteed in the summer, and this year we were delighted to see a great white egret for the first time. The accommodation is well-appointed and comfortable and breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the stunning garden, is a real treat. The landlady is often about to help identify plants in the garden or advise on local attractions. Internet access is also good.

We stayed in the garden apartment for 5 weeks in between moving house. It’s a shame the entrance hall doesn’t give a good first impression because once inside, the apartment is bright and spacious. The kitchen and furnishings could do with upgrading but the bed was really comfortable.
The apartment was warm and cosy. With a little TLC it could be really wonderful as it is set in beautiful gardens amidst rolling countryside in a perfect location with Rutland Water within walking distance.

We have recently returned from a week staying in the Valley View apartment which was clean, cosy and comfortable with views over the beautiful garden and beyond. A peaceful and convenient location for visiting Rutland Water and the surrounding area. We plan to return!

We had an enjoyable stay in the Valley View Apartment which is well furnished and comfortable with a 6' king size bed. It was quiet and relaxing with a beautiful garden and lovely views over the adjoining farmland. Some forethought was needed for catering as the galley kitchen only has two hobs and a microwave (which has a grill but is not a full functioning oven). However once this was established we were able to adjust our meals accordingly. We loved Rutland and look forward to returning to Manton Lodge in the future - hopefully to the Garden Apartment next time.

We have just enjoyed a very relaxing stay in the Garden Apartment. The accommodation was clean and well-equipped for self-catering, which was ideal for us. We were made to feel very comfortable and welcome by our hostess. The landscaped gardens offer a peaceful retreat - whether you want to read, paint or enjoy the wildlife. There are a number of benches and chairs and tables if you want to enjoy lunch in the garden. It really is a special place. Rutland Water is only a short cycle distance away. We look forward to our return visit.

Our first time at Manton Lodge and our first holiday since we had our daughter. Easily accessible, yet peaceful, enabling both family activities but the chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. A friendly welcome and our daughter loved getting lost in the garden.

We stayed here for 10 days in The Valley View apartment on the first floor. The apartment had elegant furniture, a big comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The kitchen was small and without an oven but that didn’t matter. What was great were the views over the fields and the sheep and horses. It was quiet and very relaxing. The gardens were extensive and lovely. They needed a gardener twice a week they were so extensive. It was a short 5 minute stroll to Manton, a very pretty little village with a church and pub but no shops. Rutland Water was a 10-15 minute walk or an easy drive and there was lots to do in the area. Birding (over 30 hides, cycling old churches castles wonderful marrow roads lined with hawthorns. Overall we had a wonderful holiday.

Thank you Marianne for your lovely review, and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay - we loved having you here! I am sorry, though that you didn't find the oven - there is one but it is masquerading as a microwave although it is, in fact a fully functioning combination oven. We will be sure to brief future guests on its capabilities, so are grateful to you for bringing this to our attention. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Manton Lodge Farm soon. With best wishes Caroline

We had a very warm welcome from Caroline for whom nothing was too much trouble. Good comfortable accommodation with splendid views. Excellent pub in the village serving good food. Very close to Rutland Water and the train station and we were amazed at how unspoilt Rutland is. Very relaxing break and a good place to go for the pace of life to slow down.
