Yes, we still stay in hostels because many of them are awesome! We got to Prague by way of Berlin (after running the marathon). We were tired, sore with no place book to stay yet. We jumped in a cab from the train station and told him to take us to the first hostel we have in our travel book. We took a chance to see what rooms they had available. Of course they were booked. We knew we wanted to stay in the old part of town, within walking distance of the train station and historic sites. The girl at the count was very helpful. She called to their sister hostel to see what type of rooms they had available. The had a few and we would need to do some switching to stay there our entire trip, but it sounded find to us. They closed off a 6 person room for us for two nights. It was great to have the room to ourselves and still not pay an arm and a leg. Actually, we paid the same price as if it were a common room. Our last night we had to move to a shared/joint room, but that was not an issue... More
