This hotel is located just round the corner from Prague castle so ideal to explore that region, and still only a 10 minute stroll down hill to Charles bridge. It is up a fairly steep hill so might be an issue for some people. The hotel doesn't have many rooms and our party had rooms 11 and 12, both very...

Our stay at Hotel Red Lion was everything we could have wanted and more. We had several issues with canceled flights, changed our arrival time 3 different times, and accidentally had a double booking issue - but Hotel Red Lion worked efficiently with us through all our travel difficulties which helped minimize our stress. Upon our arrival, our room was...

This historic small hotel is a right gem. Situated in a very nice area, minutes from the castle and amongst many of the worlds embassies. Our room was spacious, warm , very clean and had much character. Note though that there are stairs to climb and no lift which comes with older buildings. The breakfast was also very good. Take...

Just returned from 4 nights staying at the red lion hotel in prague. What a lovely room we had, although it was up 4 flights of stairs! The rest of the hotel was beautiful too but we found the bar prices a bit expensive. It was situated right next to the palace and about a 10-15 minute walk down to...

A great restaurant at this hotel in Lesser Town, Prague. Beautiful setting, eat inside or outside. Good service and great menu. But get the steak....You won't be sorry! As its a little way outside centre and tourist spots, it's never overcrowded. A really nice sense of the true Prague .

Stayed at the Red Lion from the 24th to the 28th October. Correspondence with the hotel before arriving was excellent and by email. Jiri in particular was very responsive and arranged for a taxi from the airport. The taxi driver knew that the reception was at another hotel, 1 min walk up the road from the Red Lion. Check-in was...

Very nice big double room with painted ceiling, ensuite, clean. Good breakfast buffet. About 5-10 mins walk to Prague castle, 15-20 mins to Charles bridge. Staff were very helpful, but be aware that the main reception is in the Golden Star hotel about 50m away. Our room faced onto Nerudova St which is busy with pedestrians and some vehicles on...

I couldn't recommend this hotel to enough people!!! The staff were lovely, so friendly and smiley. Our room was beautiful, so lovely we found it hard to leave in the mornings (which is saying something considering how beautiful the actual city is). The breakfast buffet every morning was lovely with a great selection of food and drinks. We had dinner...

Clean, spacious and traditional room at the top of the hotel. Hard climb to the room after a long day but very comfortable when you arrive. Reception is at another hotel a few yards up the hill but they came to us when we arrived. All staff were pleasant and helpful.

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Romantic hotel Red Lion is located in an historic burgher house from the 15th century in the very centre of Prague. It lies directly on the Royal Route, only 400 metres from the Prague Castle and 500 metres from the Charles Bridge. All rooms have an enchanting view of Petrin, the Royal Route and the roofs of Mala Strana (Lesser Side) underneath the Prague Castle. They are equipped with historical furniture. In some rooms you will find the original painted wooden ceilings dating back to the 17th century. Hotel guests can enjoy lunches in the hotel restaurant with remarkable renaissance ceilings. The restaurant serves traditional Czech as well as international cuisine. Breakfast is served in the form of rich hot buffet. The pub U Cerveneho Lva invites you for a glass of wine or Pilsner beer. Its centuries old stone walls provide cool refuge from the heat in the summer, which makes the pub a perfect oasis to relax in. The bar, which dates back to 1350, is located in a lime stone cellar with Gothic vaulted ceilings. It serves a variety of hot and cold drinks. The pleasant atmosphere of the hotel patio invites our guests to relax. A limited number of parking places is available directly in front of the hotel. You can use free Internet spot in the lobby. ... more   less
