Had a lovely time staying at this with friends. Received exceptional service from all the staff members, especially the Bar manager “Usman” who was very attentive and made our time at the hotel very pleasurable. He is a great asset to the team

Hotel is well placed for the trams to get around. The staff are very good and are happy to help. They made a small mistake with us and could not apologise enough and did everything they could to put things right, the bar on the top floor is amazing. The gym is very good.

I'm honestly not sure where to start with how bad this hotel is but here goes nothing. If I could award it a minus rating then I happily would. We arrived late afternoon after 10 days at other hotels around the Czech republic; we visit regularly and always go for a 4* so we had a bit of a benchmark. We drove into the carpark to find a tiny sign on the barrier to say the carpark was closed to a company event, so we had to park out on the street - strike 1. We checked in and we're informed that all the facilities you expect e.g wellness and fitness centre are charged extra - strike 2. Considering we had quite a lot of luggage we were offered no assistance to get to our room - strike 3. Then we got to our room...strike 510726. Dated is a polite way to describe the scratched furniture, tiny TV from 2001 with a terrible signal, minimal lighting half of which didn't work. If you've booked a room that isn't executive or suite then dig a 6 foot hole and bury your expectations. It was quite late at this point and, after finding out that the hotel restaurant was closed for the company event that had also monopolised the car park, we headed out to a local restaurant for food. The room was reasonably comfortable although I wouldn't recommend trying to open the kamikaze windows that open entirely hinged on one corner unless you're on some part of suicide mission. We also explored the hotel a little and it definitely has a feel reminiscent of the Shining; indeed, a stay at the Overlook Hotel during which your mind slowly starts to unravel is a pretty accurate analogy to a stay at this place. The next morning I went for a shower and this is when I started to get seriously hacked off. The extractor fan didn't work. The mixer tap seemed to be not fully attached to the wall and the small switch to change from bath to shower was so sharp I nearly sheared the tips of my fingers off. Around the taps themselves there was a nice layer of grime. We decided at this point that we needed to speak to someone about the state of the room. We headed to breakfast which was actually pretty ok. I was trying to focus on the positives. We returned to the room and found the absolute final straw - a load of dust and dirty tissues under the bed. I went straight down to reception and spoke to one of 2 members of staff - the extremely rude Ukrainian woman who I think was called Kristina was busy which was probably lucky because I expected her to just laugh in my face given her massive attitude problem which was evident every time we passed the reception and watched her treat even the simplest of enquiries with the maximum amount of disdain and minimal number of words response. Instead I spoke to a girl who looked like a rabbit staring down the wrong end of a gun and politely explained the myriad issues and that I wanted to talk to the manager. She disappeared into the back for a while and said the manager wasn't in yet but would be back later - I know suspect that he was as hiding in the back as the person who was later identified as the manager seemed to specialise in being out of sight when things got tense. When we eventually got to speak to the now infamous Lukaš, he couldn't apologise enough, especially after finding out we were there with our young daughter who had a birthday the very next day. He offered to prepare some alternative rooms for us. Once the rooms were ready I went to reception and was ceremoniously presented with one room card at a time and went off to inspect our options. I can't really put the adjectives here as the review won't be approved. The same but worse. Rotten doors in the bathroom of two and rubbish under the bed in the other. I traipsed back to reception once again and said that at this point the only thing that would fix this would a refund on some of the amount we had paid as we were not satisfied with what was on offer. Fasten your seatbelts because Lukaš is back! After thanking us for not shouting at him (do you get the sense that an assault of complaints are part of every working day for Lukaš?) he produced the card reader and refunded us for the remainder of our stay...and then said that meant we needed to leave the hotel. Err what? Come with me now on a journey into a parallel universe where it's now 5pm, dark and cold and I'm stood at reception with a 3 year old child being asked to leave the hotel. Having maintained a veneer of politeness until this point I lost my sh*t. I told him that we had asked for a refund because the hotel was appalling, it isn't 4*, it's dirty, the advertised facilities aren't even included and he thought it was acceptable to show us 3 alternative rooms that were laughably awful. The staff are rude or invisible and he was now leaving us in a very difficult position - did he honestly think that was ok. He spluttered his way through, his mind evidently working furiously as he attempted to stand by and justify essentially throwing a family with a 3 year old into the street with nowhere to go. I'm not sure what hospitality training Lukaš has had but given the skill levels of most of the other staff members it's safe to say 'manager' is awarded on some kind of lucky dip basis. Deciding that fate had intervened and that the prospect of spending another minute in the hell hole of the Grand Hotel International was not worth our sanity we quickly contacted another 4* (one that actually meets the standards of the rating), packed our bags and, after a quick exchange of Czech insults between my husband and Lukaš (who appeared to be attempting to hide in the staff toilet) we left. In summary, unless you are some sort of sadist, please do not stay in this horrendous excuse for a hotel.

I think this hotel is fantastic. The lovely marble wood and brass in the hotel is so nice, not some carbon copy of all the new hotels there are. The room is a little old fashioned but in a nice way, very modern bathroom with lovely toiletries and towels. The room and hotel is spotless and lovely big soft pillows. The breakfast is very good and everything you could want even cakes. The staff are also extremely nice and helpful. We had a mini break in Prague which is amazing and will definitely go again and use this hotel. Diane and John from the UK.😁❤️

I returned yesterday 11th of January after spending 3 nights at this hotel with my daughter as a gift for her 21st . I did the wrong thing before arriving and read some terrible reviews so was a little dubious about what we would find . All I can say is WOW what a beautiful hotel , twin room as requested spotless, extremely comfortable beds, lovely bedding and fluffy pillows . Large modern bathroom , shower that felt like you were receiving a massage . Air conditioning and self controlled heating , TV free internet fully stocked mini bar and snacks . Room cleaned each day and new towels . The vast breakfast options again WoW - each of the bars within the hotel are lovely and amazing top floor bar with spectacular views - pianists also in bar nr to reception . Staff welcoming and concierge very helpful . Location excellent and very quiet just jump on a tram outside or train station 5 mins walk - superb links to all buses, trams , metro we travelled easily everywhere and all for £12 for a 72hr pass . I am very well travelled and I have to say that this is the best city hotel I have stayed in and will recommend to my friends and will most definitely return in the summer . We stayed on the 7th floor in room 722 ( and no it was not an upgraded room ) . Highly recommended by both myself and my daughter .

My wife (we are a lesbian couple) booked this trip for me as a surprise Christmas present for over New Year. Honestly where do I start with the most unpleasant stay I’ve ever experienced. As you arrive the entrance is incredible. However. Do not be fooled. We booked a double room and were given a twin bedroom which looked like it was out of the 80s. (Photos attached) the bath was dirty the floor had stains on. The quilt cover is only to cover a child. There are no plugs next to the bed. The TV didn’t work. The room was next to the lift so was extremely noisy. I went to reception to get greeted by the most rude staff I have ever came into contact with. They told me ‘hotel is full. Nothing I can do please go away’ I asked to speak with a manager and the response was ‘no, no manager here.’ Please go away and return at 9am. Which I did. Still. No manager. This went on until half 10 and 4 days later I still haven’t spoken to a manager. We watched all day as people like a revolving door approached the desk making complaints. We eventually moved rooms which was just bigger however still the same issues! On the website they advertise the executive rooms NOT the standard rooms. Housekeeping do not visit on a daily basis. We rang to ask on day 3&4 to have fresh towels. Reception put the phone down on us and we tried to ring back. They didn’t answer. The window on the 4th floor of our room opens completely wide and is so dangerous. If you fell out you would die. The experience in general has been awful. We have been laughed at, my wife has been kicked the back of the legs by other guests. We have been called ‘fat lesbians’ from guests. We have been tutted at and cussed at. Honestly. Just Do not stay here. I’ve probably missed a million things but that’s just a few.

We booked this hotel through love holidays, and we were pleasantly surprised. It’s a lovely hotel which spacious rooms. Our room was large which we have not experienced elsewhere before. Yes it is old fashioned however it is very clean! Mini bars in the hotel room is a nice touch considering not many hotels do this anymore! Transport from the hotel couldn’t be any easier, with a tram stop 2 minutes walk away with regular trams into the old town. We purchased a travel ticket for the duration of our stay and utilised the trams!!! Staff weren’t the most friendly with us but others have said how friendly they are? Biggest issue we had was on our last morning (new years day!!!!) we had maids banging on our door at 9:30am and at 10am they just walked in, while me and my partner were still fast asleep!!! We did not mention to staff as felt it would be ignored. Regardless, it is a lovely hotel and we would recommend to anyone staying in Prague that doesn’t want to be directly in the old town.
