This place is fantastic. The main reason is that the family owners were incredibly warm and helpful. So much so that we will consider them lifelong friends. (There's a story explaining all this, but not necessary for this review.) The location is great, its just a little off the beaten path so it's very quiet, but really only a short...

Dum u Velky Boty (House at Big Boot) I discovered Dum u Velky Boty (House at Big Boot) in a New York Times article “36 Hours in Prague.” Only after arrival did I discover that the article was from 2007 (There is a newer 2014 version). Nevertheless, the Big Boot remains under the same charming managements and still merits the...

This was our second stay at The House at the boot - Dům u velké boty. Our first visit was in December 2013 when we only had two nights. We were so charmed we promised that we would come back and take the time to truly explore Prague. We managed to fulfil this promise this year, staying eight nights with...

We were blown away by this darling house. The room and bathroom were large - even by American standards. In the US the room would be considered a suite. Staff was lovely!!! Provided very helpful information about Prague. Breakfast was included and very good. The house is about a 15 minute walk from the Town Square and 10 minutes from...

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Dum U Velky Boty and I'd recommend it to any friend or family member visiting Prague. We arrived in the late afternoon exhausted from our flights and therefore feeling a bit chilled by the November weather, and were delighted when Dominic offered us a nice big fresh pot of tea. It...

We stayed there for 4nights, the staff is really nice the owner very friendly. We had the 3d floor suite, it was really big and comfortable. We visited everything by foot from the hotel, it is well located. (There's tram nearby) Really lovely stay and lovely staff and house.

This hotel was recommended by a friend living in Prague, so we tried. It's been a wonderful experience. Everybody was kind, helpful. It's ideally situated in a very very calm area, next to most embassies, a few minutes walk to the Prague Castle (Hrad) and the hills of Petrin tower. Rooms are quite big, we had a nice views on...

Our stay here was everything I expected from the reviews. Lovely room, helpful and welcoming staff, nice breakfast included. I enjoyed staying on the edge of Mala Strana as it was quiet but only a 15 minute walk to the old town and very useful tram links for when we didn't feel like walking

We picked this place because it did so well on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. It’s family run. Everyone there was very friendly and very helpful. They all spoke excellent English, booked things, gave advice etc. The rooms are furnished with Czech traditional furniture. The beds were very comfortable. Ours had a large and very ornamental ceramic heating device...

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
