What a lovely hotel the Tyl is! - good location - 15 minutes walk away from the city centre, 50 yards from tram stop and 100 yards from metro station. My husband, my sister and I stayed there 9 to 15 March 07 for my 60th birthday celebration. We had travelled direct from Blackpool Airport (5 minutes from home!) so it was a very easy journey. We had read the reviews on the Tyl Hotel previously on Trip Advisor and found them very helpful in our choice - 15th out of nearly 500 hotels in Prague.

Hotel spotlessly clean - very helpful, courteous and friendly staff.
Lovely fresh buffet breakfast. Decent size bedrooms and extremely comfortable beds!

Free internet access in bar. Very pleasant bar with great tv - had drinks in there in the evening after eating out at the Chudoba restaurant - 10 minutes walk away and very highly recommended. So good we ate there every night!

Used the hot tub in the Fitness room- great after a day's strolling around the fascinating and stunning city of Prague.
Your senses are reeling after seeing so many magnificent buildings. Just go down any cobbled side street and there will be another beautiful church or theatre. Listen to one of the many concerts - midday, afternoon and evening.

We stayed for 7 days and because it was so sunny and warm we
walked around the city and didn't go inside the many museums.

We purchased a 7 day transport ticket for £7 (280 Czech korunnas) - unlimited use of trams, metro and buses.
Worth every korunna The tram and metro systems are a doddle.

We all agreed the tourism is being handled very well - not over commercialised but very professional. Many buildings have been restored and this work is ongoing.

Don't miss visiting this wonderful city!

Enjoyed 4 nigths at the Hotel Tyl in Prague! We originally planned to stay three and the last one at an airport hotel because of our early flight monday morning but after three nights at the Tyl Hotel, we decided to just take a cab in the early morning.

Spacious and clean rooms. Rooms had minibar, safe, tv (only ten channels, but included CNN, Eurosport en German MTV). Twinbeds, airco, large bathroom with a bidet! Minus point was the shower, which was a little bit inpracticle constructed and pressure wasn't very high. Still ok though.

Staff was very friendly and service was excellent. Breakfast was good. Location was also good, walking distance from the Old Center. I would say less then 10 minutes.

I've yet to find a hotel that can match the price/quality of hotel Tyl in Prague!!!

Hope they keep up the good work!

My wife and I have just returned from a three night stay at this hotel. The Hotel Tyl lived up to the comments of previous guests. First rate position, with all amenities on your doorstep. Housekeeping excellent throughout hotel. Plentiful selection for breakfast, with constant replenishment of food. Good restaurants in the area with particular mention for the Radost FX (across the road from hotel) which serves the best vegetarian food in Prague (but keep it a secret as it can get busy). City and hotel most highly recommended with finest transport links I have experienced.

This is an attractive, friendly, small hotel with excellent transport links by tram, bus and underground train (Pavlova station) almost on the doorstep to one side of the square. We stayed here in early January 2006 when the weather was cold but the hotel was always warm and cosy. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful giving us directions, providing maps and advice. There is a good selection of places to eat nearby all of which were very good value for generous helpings of tasty food. The hotel is a short walk – downhill – to Wenceslas Square (about 10 mins) and the old town beyond. We caught a tram from the hotel to the Castle on the other side of the river. We felt very safe in Prague but took the precaution of not carrying handbags. For a reliable, fixed price taxi service from the airport, go to the Cedaz desk: they’ll take you to your hotel and collect you for your return.

Arrived in Prague on 13 Dec 05 for a short city break. The receptionist was welcoming and informative. The hotel is spotlessly clean, warm and extremely comfortable. The rooms are tastefully furnished in keeping with the period of the hotel, which itself is ideally located a short walk from the top of Wenceslas Square. Tram amd Metro routes are close - getting around Prague is so easy. A beautiful city, something for everybody. Exceptional value hotel, polite and helpful staff; lovely continental breakfast. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. We plan a return trip in the summer and we will have no hestitation in returning to the Tyl, or indeed recommending it to friends.

Stayed at the Tyl for a few days just before Christmas and had a great stay!

The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. It snowed every day that we were there but the hotel was always nice and warm. It's also in a great location - next to trams and the metro and just five mins walk from Wenceslas Square.

The staff were really helpful and were able to order us a taxi to the airport for 650Kcs - cheaper than the taxi coming into town.

Not a big fan of continental breakfasts myself so would say that they should offer hot food. But there was always plenty of food at breakfast.

Spent 4 nights here whilst visiting Prague and it is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. The room was very quiet, spotlessly clean and the hotel has all modern facilities including free internet access in the bar but also retains some character that is missing from the larger chain hotels.
The staff on reception were very polite and helpful. I would recommend taking one of the city tours on the first day which can be booked via reception and they will arrange for you to be picked up from the hotel at no extra charge. It is a good way to get an overview of this city, I had not appreciated how much there was to see and how disorientating it can be wandering through the numerous small streets admiring the beautiful architecture! A good map is essential if you start exploring on foot.
As previously mentioned the hotel is located next to the trams and the metro station (I.P. Pavlova) and it is easy to reach this from the airport. Take the 119 bus to Dejvická and then the metro (Line A) to Museum and change to Line C for the one stop to IP Pavlova. When you leave the station look for the signs advertising McDonalds and KFC (I guess this is western democracy for you!) and the hotel is nearby.
You can buy transfer tickets at the machines near the bus/metro stops for 20Kc but you will need some coins These tickets are valid for use on most buses, metro and trams but are time limited so you must validate them before use.
You can walk to Wenceslas square in about 15mins but it does involve negotiating several main roads which disect the historic museum building. This is not a very nice area with graffiti and fly posters everywhere but don't worry because things improve dramatically once you reach the square!
The city in general feels very safe and with the excellent transport system it is easy to get around.
The hotel buffet breakfast is excellent with plenty to choose from but if you fancy a change then the restauraunt in the Municipal House does a very good Czech Breakfast until 11:00.
This Hotel would have been good value for money at twice the price that I paid online and I would thtoughly recommend it to anyone visitng Prague.

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Tyl. We booked through Hotelconnect and got 3 nights for the price of 2. We booked the Hotel after reading the reviews on this site and the deal which meant us paying £112 for 3 nights B&B.
The Hotel arranged a taxi for us from airport and this cost Czk 600. 700 on way back. Good value considering the time it took (approx 40 mins in traffic).
On arrival at hotel, was surprised at how small it seemed from outside but on entering discovered a beautifully kept and presented hotel who's staff are courteous and very helpful. Room was very homely with a BIG wooden wardrobe and chest of draws, dressing table, T.V., side table and Mini bar. Prices in mini bar were half the price of friends hotel.
King size bed, bit soft and one flat pillow each. That was my only problem with the hotel.
Breakfast was more than adequate. Cereals, Yoghurts, Meat, Cheeses, Rolls, Croissants, Jams, Spreads, Coffee,Tea, Juices.
Use of Free Internet in bar area.
Bathroom clean with bidet and big shower. No bath and fresh towels daily.
Would definitely recommend this hotel if you don't mind a 5-10 min walk to the Wenceslas Square area. It is an uphill walk back up mind so may want to get a taxi back. Trams are plentiful and pass outside Hotel but are crowded.

A bit worried about pickpockets before travelling but had no problem whatsoever. There are a few unsavoury characters hanging around but not so much as in ANY other British city. Just be careful not to flash money or your belongings around and you'll be fine. Big police presence in main tourist areas which acts as a deterrent. Quite a few Afro-Caribbean chaps on street corners offering 'Charlie'
If you want cheap food and drinks, stay away from Wenceslas and Old Town Square and find other smaller traditional bar/restaurants in side streets. Had a meal for 6 with 5 bottles of wine for £50 or you can pay up to £200 for same around main tourist areas.

Great location, just 5-10 minutes from all the main attractions. Charles Bridge is a little further but everything's walkable. All of the staff in this hotel were remarkably friendly and helpful. Rooms were a little small but perfectly comfortable. Impressive breakfast selection and general all-round good times. We'll be back to the Tyl
