Very clean and comfortable accomodation, very nice and helpful staff, delicious breakfast. Easy to get to Gdańsk city center by bus. Great restaurant 5-10 minutes by walk, grocery stores 15-20 minutes by walk. The guesthouse is located in a quiet area of Sobieszewo Island, up to 30 minutes walk through the forest to the beautiful sandy beaches. A quiet place in really nice sorroundings. I spent fantastic and relaxing time. I hope I will come back to this place!

Great room with a great view. Breakfast excellent, everybody can find something for themselves and not leave the cafeteria hungry. Staff willing to help. If you look for peace and quiet, long walks and privacy you will find it there for sure.

One of the best places I've been at the seaside. Picturesque, calm area. Wide beaches, few people. Beautiful bicycle and walking paths leading through the forest, a nature reserve, a habitat for birds.
Clean, nice designed room, tasty food and very nice and helpful service.

fine service. good breakfast. fantastic location. Clean room. Perfect place for bike travels or people who have pets. Close to Baltic sea. Must say not many people on the beach at this side of sea as beaches from Gdańsk to Sopot were full of people.

Nice place, quiet, calm without crowds of tourists. Good food, nice owners and service invites you to spend a few days. A kilometer to the beach through a beautiful pine forest. Half an hour to Gdansk by public transport. An ideal place for people who like peace and good food.

A great, comfortable place to rest close to nature, smiling and very helpful staff. Guests care about silence and culture. On New Year's Eve, we received a sweet gift and sparkling wine in the room - nice. Delicious, colorful and varied breakfasts stand out. Try it!

We were very surprised that this B&B was rated #1 on tripadvisor.
It is located a 45 minute bus ride away from the center of town, buses ran on the 1/2 hour.
The manager did speak good English, unfortunately she provided us with incorrect information about the bus. We were told that the last bus left the Old City of Gdansk at 11pm, however at 9:40pm when we went to catch the bus back to the B&B we were disappointed to find that the last bus had left at 9:27pm. We took a cab back that cost 150PLN - supposedly there is a cheaper cab company but we didn't have a phone to use nor do we speak Polish.
The bridge to the island on which the B&B was located was being worked on while we were there too, because of that we had to get back to the B&B by 8pm each night to avoid paying another 150PLN. There was nothing to walk to around the B&B at night.
There was no handtowel, no body soap, shampoo or conditioner.
As international travelers we do not travel with liquids - the manager seemed really surprised by this. She did give us a sample pack to use, but we had to wash our bodies with the palmolive hand soap.
Breakfast was very basic - hardboiled egg, cold meat, cheese, bread, yogurt, cereal, coffee and orange juice... we didn't get any salmon, or find anything to rave about as other reviewers did.
The rooms were clean and refurbished, unfortunately our room had 2 Twin beds - not what my husband and I were hoping for on our romantic getaway. Also our towel rack did not heat up.
The view from our window was of an alleyway, with trash strewn around it - we also had a view of the neighbor's backyard which was decorated with caterpillar tractors. No water view for us... just ugliness.
There is no A/C - wouldn't have been too bad, unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't open the window.
The rooms are cleaned every 2 days - not a problem, unless you run out of toilet paper (as we did) and have to go to the front desk for more.
On the plus side, the manager did lend me an umbrella and a hairdryer.
In summary - this place we be an okay choice if you:
(a) have a car
(b) want to escape the bustle of the city
-- however, this is likely NOT your best choice if you want to immerse yourself in the city and culture.

Spent a total of four nights at Stara Wedzarnia in June/July 2012, and can report it to be an excellent place to stay. The rooms are three/four star, clean, spacious and with little touches. The view of an arm of the Vistula River is lovely and literally yards away (see photo).

Moreover, Natalia and the staff were so very, very helpful to me, non-Polish speaking American. I'd brought the wrong AC adapter...Natalia went to town and got me one. On a European bike tour, I had special requests, including the need for some tools when my bike pedals wouldn't come off. Staff was right there to provide them.

Service like this was common during my stay at Stara Wedzarnia, and the place more than deserves its high TripAdvisor Rating. Some may prefer or need to stay closer to Gdansk proper, but I found the quiet beauty of the location charming and calming (and still on a bus line to town).

Lastly, I can report the breakfast was perhaps the best I had in six weeks of Polish/German/Dutch breakfasts. Par for the course at what is a top-notch establishment.
