Location
We arrived at the hotel after our short hop over from Norway. The property is located a mere 3 to 5 minute walk from the Old Town and is perfect for exploring the beautiful city of Gdansk.

Room
In the room you will find a large bed, a little sofa, a flatscreen tv, a work desk with a chair, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and a wardrobe with hangers with lots of space to put your belongings. The bed was a bit too soft to my liking but other than that pretty good to sleep in.
The bathroom was of adequate size. The water pressure was good in both sink and shower. There was, however, a bit of a funny smell from the water in the sink and my eyes reacted and got red every time. But it went over after a few minutes. Maybe it was caused by some chemical to clean the water, I don't know.
Both room and bathroom show signs of aging but both maintenance and cleaning seem to be on top of things here.
The water bottles and tea and coffee making facilities were replenished every day which was nice.

At check-in we were informed that there was no daily cleaning unless we let the front desk know that cleaning was desired. We didn't bother during our 5 day stay. We appreciate Novotels efforts to a more environmental running of their business.

Other than our room we did not use any of the hotels facilities, apart from a few coffees ordered at the bar.

The Novotel is very family friendly and has both a big outside area for kids to play and special family parking spots right in front of the hotel, very good.

Staff
The staff at check-in did a seamless and efficient job of checking us in. They were quite friendly but not the most welcoming I have encountered.
Staff at the bar were very friendly.
Check out was a let down. Grumpy front desk agent who tried to be friendly but failed miserably.
I have myself worked in hotels both in Europe, the Far East and South East Asia. I can honestly say that I would expect more from staff working for the Accor Group. Maybe a bit of staff training and motivational training might be in place for certain members of the staff.
Once I asked a staff how to get to the Galeria Baltyka (one of the biggest shopping centers in Gdansk). He was not able to give us any advice regarding transportation nor directions whatsoever. Maybe this certain someone should find himself a different occupation than working in the Hospitality business. I can not remember being treated so poorly by any staff member of any hotel before.

Verdict
The location is top, the room is ok and good enough but not for 1000 Norwegian Kroner pluss and the staff was average at best.
Would I stay here again or recommend this property? Probably not!

Located in the center you are well positioned to explore the city on foot.
The building itself is old, and even the lobby, bar and restaurant area has been updated, you still get the feel of the old orbis days.
Corridors are a bit gloomy and smells of food in the evening, which extends to the room.
Room is of good size, and clearly shows its age. There is a coffeemaker, safe, fridge, aircon. Wifi was reliable and stabile. Tv selection is quite small, most in polish. Bed needs new matrasses, pillows comfy. Lack of sockets. Bathroom with shower cabin, good waterpressure. Soap dispensers (ran out during my stay) weak ventilation. Water provided.
There is no "do not disturb" sign in the room, so asked for cleaning when leaving the room as I needed to work and relax when coming back. Nothing happened. Old school orbis :-)

Breakfast served from 530am was fresh and delish. Servers very friendly and serviceminded.

Will be in Gdansk a lot during the next months, unfortunately this hotel will probably not be my choice .

The room was large, clean and modern with a very comfortable bed. There is a nice large outside garden where you can relax and eat. A buffet breakfast is available for 70 zloty. The receptionists were helpful in providing maps, advising on travel around the area and storing luggage. There is also a table tennis table and a playstation in reception by the bar.

The hotel is close to the end of Ulica Dluga (long street) which is the busy main street containing street performers and restaurants. It is about a 25min walk to the central train station and bus stops (including the stop for the airport). If you like drinking and dancing at night, there are a couple of venues close by (Sassy club and Miasto Aniolow).

My brother recommended this hotel as he had stayed in the hotel a few years ago.
I am so pleased that I took his advice and booked the hotel.
The hotel is a very nice hotel. All the staff are so nice, helpful and friendly.
The whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels every day.
It was lovely to come back to our hitel room every morning after our room had been cleaned and find a lovely clean fresh smell when you opened the room door.
The hotel is in a beautiful location and within walking distance of the beautiful Old Gdańsk Town.
The breakfast has a great selection of hot and cold food, coffees, teas and juices.
The only thing that was missing from the breakfast selection was porridge.
I would recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone who is going to the very beautiful Gdańsk city. 😍

Novotel Gdansk Centrum

We booked this hotel but when we arrived to the hotel late at night it was fully booked. Another group of people had also booked and they had the same last name as me, guess they got an extra room that was supposed to be mine (staff asked if I knew them =), no I don't).
The staff handled it good, told us to sit and wait in the lobby/lounge bar and we got a free drink until the staff rebooked us to 'Hotel Mercure Gdansk Stare Miasto' which belongs to the same hotel group (Accor).
Free taxi ride 5min away was the hotel, which also had good location.

What I can say about Novotel Gdansk Centrum:
+Good location.
+Helpful staff.
+In the lobby it had ATM, and games as Xbox 360, ping pong table and foosbar for kids to play (many kids was playing around).
So I rate this 3 of 5, because I don't know how the rooms look like, and don't have any pictures of it.

I stayed here for three nights and had a good time.
The hotel staff at reception, bar and housekeeping have been friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
My room was quite, clean and comfortable, had a good size and was exactly as pictured on the home page. Only minus points are, that in some places the room could've used some renovation, but it was nothing major, nothing was broken or damaged.
The location in the old town is very good, you can reach most sights by foot or tram from the station across the street.
I'd definitely stay here again.

A lovely hotel right in the centre of Gdansk an easy walk through to the main shopping streets and waterfront.
Room comfortable, clean and warm.
The staff friendly and really helpful.
A good breakfast with a good selection of hot and cold foods and you could even make your own waffle!
A great stay at a lovely hotel.

Generally this Novotel is good. The staff were excellent throughout, answering all questions.
The rooms are a little tired but generally OK. The biggest negative was that the mattress is Room 328 is completely worn out and needs replacing. The breakfast was good and fresh, plenty of choice. In the ironing room little jugs to refill the water in the irons were missing, but I managed to refill one using a cup. In terms of location, it is OK not amazing but OK. Its quite far from any of the train stations, but tram stops are a few minutes walk away.

The hotel has a lot going for it, especially for families. Its proximity to the old town is a major plus, making it easy to walk to many attractions. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and the play options for kids are great.

Breakfast was a mixed bag. The pancakes were good, but after four days of the exactly the same menu, it became monotonous. I think the Chef is too lazy with his choices. The lack of a toaster and the limited bread choices were also disappointing.

The biggest issue was with housekeeping. They did not change our towels even after we asked them to, which was quite annoying. While the reception staff were pleasant and helpful, the housekeeping staff did not meet our expectations.

In summary, this hotel is in a great location and has some nice amenities, but it needs to improve its housekeeping and breakfast variety to offer a better overall experience. I would not recommend opting for breakfast if your stay is more than a day. The city has better options for breakfast.

Good Novotel - usual standards so you know exactly what you are getting for the money. Great location near to Delugi Tag, approx 5 mins walk away, but also quiet. Reasonably priced for a big city 4 star hotel and has the big advantage of an onsite ground level car park and also a grassy park area for sunbathing.
Nice beds, bathrooms, safety deposit boxes. Fridges etc. good wifi and easy to log on.
Only negative is poor choice of English TV channels, no BBC or SkyNews.
