HOTEL KRÓLEWSKI is located in the center of Gdańsk, at Motława, on Wyspa Ołowianka. In the history of the city the Hotel’s localization perfectly reflects the importance of granaries situated there, as well as the power of water and boating. HOTEL KRÓLEWSKI is a historical place. A centuries-long history of the facility in connection with its location at the Motława makes it an attractive spot on the tourist map of Gdańsk. For the same reasons one should also take a historical journey into the Hanseatic city.

Location is very good. Excellent breakfast. Everything you need is in the room. Very helpful administrator on reception.
after checking out of the hotel, we left our belongings to walk around more comfortable.
As a minus I can point out good audibility, you can hear sounds well in the next room

Hotel rooms were clean, well maintained and more than adequate for our short stay in Gdansk (we had a standard room).

The hotel restaurant food was very good, well presented and service was also good with a reasonable selection of meats/fish/veggie dishes on offer.

Breakfast(also served in the restaurant) was the typical european fare of meats, bread, fruits etc which was good enough to set you up for the day ahead.

The location of the hotel is probably the only very minor drawback as the old marina area has not yet been fully restored and there are a few derelict buildings in the area (the hotel however has good views of the crane and waterfront area of Gdansk as it faces them being next to the Maritime Museum) but being only a 5 minute walk from the old town you were soon into the wonderfully restored city.

Overall we were very impressed with the hotel for the price we paid and would definately return the hotel if in Gdansk.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights over Halloween in October / November 2007, and had a super time. We took advantage of the competitive rates and opted for the ‘Captain’s Apartment’ suite. The views over the River Motlawa and Gdansk’s Old Town were more than worth the small additional price.

Our suite had a large living room with sofa, desk, TV and a well stocked mini bar. The bedroom was also big with a comfortable bed, another TV and ample storage space. The bathroom had a stand-alone shower but no bath. One thing the suite was lacking was a vanity table with electric sockets and a mirror, as the only place my wife had to get ready was in the bathroom. The TV channels were also limited – there were a total of twelve, but only three were in English.

Breakfast was served between 7:00 and 10:30 and was a very tasty buffet of breads, meats, cheese, fish and salads. There was a limited hot selection of fried eggs, frankfurters and mushrooms, and freshly made scrambled eggs and omelettes were available on request. Because we were out and about so much we didn’t try the restaurant in the evening, but it always looked busy.

Staff were generally friendly and helpful, particularly the girls at reception who spoke good English and were more than happy to give advice on tourist information and travel options.

Previous posters have identified location as an issue. For us, there was no problem as it was no more than a comfortable ten minute stroll from the hotel to the Royal Way (ul. Dluga / Dlugi Targ) along the water’s edge. For those who are short of time– or want to save their energy for later in the day – taxis are easily available, and the hotel reception will book them for you. We found it handy to keep a hotel business card with us to show the drivers, as we found that they generally don’t speak English.

Some other things:

Getting from Lech Walesa airport to the hotel took about 20 minutes in a taxi and cost 50 zloty (approx. £9.00). You can walk to Gdansk Glowny train station in 25 minutes, or take a five minute taxi ride.

We especially recommend dining at Pod Lososiem (ul. Szeroka) and Goldwasser (ul. Dlugie Pobrzeze) in the evening. During the day we stopped in Pellowski’s for pastries & coffee, and Cafe Ferber for beers (both on ul. Dluga).

There is plenty to keep you busy in Gdansk for a day or two, but if you are there for any longer then you may want to consider getting out of town. We thoroughly enjoyed day trips to both the seaside resort town of Sopot (30 minutes by train) and the medieval town of Malbork (50 minutes by train) to visit the world’s largest brick castle, built by the Teutonic Knights in the 1274.

Very disapointing. Turned out our room was in another building, accross the street. Breakfast in other building.

No air condition, no fridge, no bathtub. Reception close at 22:00.

Location is still ok though.

Missing the hotel experience really.

An excellent hotel; beautifully converted from an old granary building, amazing attention to detail, great views of Gdansk's UNESCO listed crane, friendly staff, top notch restaurant, wonderful terrace on the banks of the river, rooms are immaculate, location is good, excellent value for money. I am planning a return visit!

Nice location, good price (you should be able to get it at £45 per night), decent rooms and facilities. No real downside apart from the walk to the city centre which although is only 10-15 mins would be just 2 mins if you could walk across the canal!!! Recommended.

we were very unsure as to what to expect from Gdansk but we found a very comfy hotel and a very civilised, interesting and beautiful town. The hotel was clean and comfortable (although we missed being able to make a cup of tea/coffee in our room). Fab views of the river and the breakfast on the first day was very good. Try and take the very cute ferry across the river at 2 zlotys/trip. It takes you into the town in minutes and drops you off at the oldest wooden crane in Europe. We discovered wonderful resataurants - we also must recommend the Solidarity museum at the Gdansk Shipyard; wonderful value at 8 euros and we had the place to ourselves. We also went to the museum in the Town Hall (amber exhibition) and so many of the museums were free especially on Sundays!

Get to Gdansk before the rest of the world does especially if you like: history, amber, good food, walking, good coffee houses, churches, rivers, ver good value for money (we ate in the same restaurant as the Pope, Maggie Thatcher, G Bush £50 for 2.....................

To be honest, one of the best I have encountered! The staff is very friendly, the rooms are great (especially the ones with the Old Town view). The breakfast is really delicious with more choice than most of the 5star hotels. Everything is very clean. It's a short walk to the Old Town, but you can take the ferry to the other side every 15 minutes for 1Zty. And by the way, the ferry goes in winter time as well, but not on Monday. Try the restaurant as well, the Chef serves great food. If I return to Gdansk it will be here for sure!

I stayed here for 2 weeks and I wouldn't have been sad to add 2 more.

This hotel was just beautiful in a really original building and a perfect location.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was good (even after 2 weeks), the restaurant was good, so was the bar when having a drink.

The rooms were spacious, clean and pretty.

I cannot think of anything that was bad or even mediocre.

I will definetely stay here again when passing to go to Kaliningrad.

The Krolewski is a modern hotel in an historic setting. In olden days the building was the Royal Granary - from post-war photos it is clear this was one of few buildings to survive the city centre bombings. Its recently been transformed into a stylish hotel but keeping as much of the old external feel as possible. A really nice place to spend time.

Good points - If you get a room facing over the river, you'll have the best view of Gdansk possible - make sure to ask because this makes all the difference. The rooms are smart and newly furnished. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is pretty good, and the dinner menu looked nice (though I didn't try it). WIFI is free.

Things to note - No safe in the room (there is a safe at Reception instead) and no tea/coffee facilities (!). Not much in the way of extra facilities like pool, gym, etc or business centre.

More importantly the hotel is sited across the river from the Old Town which means maybe a 10-15 min walk into town during winter. Not an unpleasant walk and there is lots of development going up there (especially the nice bar/restaurant at the new Hotel Gdansk) but less fun in the rain. In summer, there is a ferry across the river from the nearby Maritime Museum. Taxis seem to arrive very quickly when ordered. All in all, I wouldn't hold the location against the Krolewski - and you get the fantastic views into town as compensation.
