The hotel is easy to find and the street to follow is tartaczna as you turn into the street you will see a large blue vertical sign in the distance.
The hotel is situated near the monument/ memorial to the defenders of the post office(WW2) and the post office museum .
we arrived around 1.30 in the afternoon and were allowed to check in straight away. The reception is staffed 24 hours and all the staff speak good English and are really nice and willing to help whatever the issue.
Town maps and a free city guide is available from the reception.
The rooms are good, wood flooring ,flat screen TV, tea and coffee with kettle, and a fridge, and a safe. Unfortunately the TV did not have any english speaking channels. The hotel also provides two bottles of water per day complimentary replenished by the housekeeping staff. The air conditioning works well and the bed is comfortable if very soft.
The wardrobe however was a bit cramped and dark squeezed in behind the door .The shower was good with fair water pressure and enough space to be comfortable.
We borrowed an electrical adaptor from reception and one of the lovely staff obtained a pint glass from the restaurant for me.
Breakfast provides an excellent choice hot polish sausage/bacon bread for toast, rye bread ,cooked meats ,cheeses ,salad ,fresh fruit ,yoghurts ,small sweet cakes teas /coffees and fruit juices .You also have the option of omelette, scrambled egg, fried egg, poached eggs or pancakes freshly cooked to order. Breakfast is served from 7.00am -11.00am daily in the basement restaurant.
There is a small supermarket on the corner Zabko which sells water ,beers ,soft drinks ,biscuits, confectionery ,crisps and hot dogs.
Next to that on the same street is also a good Mexican restaurant with seating outside.
We asked the reception to book us a taxi for the airport at 4.00am on our departure day which was excellent "Neptune taxis".
However the lady on reception failed to make the wake up call at 3.30am that we had asked for and we just made the booking.
The hotel location was also handy for the tourist sites 10 minutes from the waterfront promenade ,15 mins from WW2 museum etc.

First impression was okay . Receptionist was friendly, room was clean but was a bit surprised that there is no robes or slippers in the room. One more thing is that there is no parking for the car. We stayed in lots of hotels which are only 3 stars but always had a free carpark or at least slippers in the room. To finish it breakfast was good without a doubt. Lady in the canteen was lovely thanks to her. Would we come back? No. Would we recommend it for someone looking for a low price/quality? 🙌🏼 yes.

Stayed in the hotel Bonum for 3 nights. Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast and great location. Near the square where WW11 started. Near the WW11 museum and near the beautiful river walk. The hotel has 24 hour reception. Would defiantly stay there again.

We have just returned from a stay at the Aureus.

At the aiport the taxi driver hadn't heard of it!! (So make sure you have the address on you)
That worried us a bit at first but it is a new hotel so maybe understandable.

The hotel is in a strange position, almost a poorer residential area that is obviously ripe for redevelopment. However, turn right out of the hotel doorway, walk to the end of the road, turn left and you are almost on the riverfront.
We ate at 2 restaurants along there, Domichowski (sp?) and the Zawaw, both excellent and good value and the famous crane is along there too.

Checkin at the Aureus was great, absolutely superb helpful staff all the time we were there. An extra pillow was provided pronto and they provided maps and showed us where to walk to see the most.

The furnishing of the hotel was ultra modern and extremely tasteful. The whole ambience was excellent.

Our room was on the 3rd floor (305) facing the back. The lift was small but efficient.

Room was excellently furnished, plenty of draws & wardrobe space, beds were comfortable and warm. Flatscreen TV - note: no tea or coffee making facilities.

In the Aureus I have to say the walls are a bit thin, our room neighbours came in one evening and were holding a perfectly normal conversation in low voices and I could hear EVERY WORD - so be warned!!
That's a bit strange considering they are reclaimed brick.

Bathroom was superbly appointed and scrupulously clean, an excellent power shower with a LARGE cubicle! If I am being really picky I would say I prefer fluffy towels to waffle ones but that is about the worst criticism I can make! The waffle towels were adequate and did the required job anyway!

Breakfast was wonderful! The pancakes filled with cottage cheese were to die for and there was a terrific selection to suit all tastes: scrambled eggs, bacon, polish sausages (in vegetables!) a 'sunny side up' egg on toast, cereals, meats, cheese, fresh bread......
Coffee & juice...
SUPERB!

Gdansk is well worth a visit, it is being renovated at a rapid rate of knots and the main street 'The Royal Way; cannot be bettered anywhere in Europe in my opinion. It is FABULOUS, and needs to be strolled along by day and by night.
The whole of the city centre is awash with magnificent buildings and imposing churches and edifices and most of the centre has been restored to full glory.

I was glad we stayed at the Aureus as opposed to anywhere else, it was very central for everything.

One big bonus is that it was only a 10 minute walk to the massive 'Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers' and all the plaques and tributes to Lech Walesa and his comrades who had the immense bravery to form Solidarity and take on the might of the Soviet Union.
For those who remember that in 1980 onwards (like me) and who saw the news bulletins - and expected the leaders to be shot - it is an emotive place to be.
The Roads to Freedom exhibition is across the road.

We also went to Sopot on the train - which is very easy to do, everyone at the station speaks English and shows you what to do re punching the ticket, which platform etc and having asked someone if we were on the right train to Sopot, it was funny when the whole carriage called out "SOPOT" as we arrived there! :-)

There seems to be many flights to Gdansk from the UK now and in under 2 hours you are in another world.

It is COLD of course, but wrap up warm and the hotels, restaurants, trains etc are all well heated.

Finally, as an example of the attention to customer care, the hotel reception arranged us a taxi for 4am for an early flight and furthermore provided us with 2 packed breakfasts! (We had to drink the juice and eat the yoghourt before passing through airport security though!)

In conclusion I would say the Aureus is an excellent place to stay, clean & warm with friendly staff who speak excellent English.
I can recommend it without hesitation as a well located and comfortable place to stay when in this lovely city.

Great find! If you come to Gdansk you should definately stay at this hotel. For about 90€ for a double you get a totally renovated hotel with stylish and modern rooms. The breakfast buffet is great and the staff very obliging. I would definately prefer this hotel compared to worn-out Mercure. It's worth a try!

Lovely hotel, very modern and fresh.

Located about 5-10 minutes walk from the walls of the old town, but with some pubs, restaurants and the Madison shopping centre close by.

The immediate surrounding area was a bit quiet but having said that we never felt intimidated at any time.

Excellent hotel in a lovely city.

Stayed at the BW Bonum for five nights in late October and was very happy with this hotel. The room was spacious, warm, clean and had a really comfortable double bed – even the bathroom had a bath which I used every night to ease my weary leg muscles from all the walking. There was always plenty hot water and lots of towels – thought the bath was such a great perk for the price. The breakfast buffet was superb, so much choice and beautifully set out. Remember there are hot egg dishes on request, you just have to ask the waitress if you want scrambled or fried eggs, an omelette or sweet pancakes (my favourite). Wi Fi was very fast and reliable. Staff were friendly and efficient, housekeeping was spot on too. Located about a ten minute walk from the centre of the Old Town, it was in a quiet, residential neighbourhood but restaurants were never far away and the ones I ate in were great value. Another ten minute walk in the opposite direction of the city centre is the European Centre of the Solidarity Movement which is one of the most moving museums I have ever been in and would regard as a “must see” attraction for anyone visiting Gdansk. This is a fascinating city with such a rich and interesting history, I would thoroughly recommend a visit for anyone who likes something slightly off the beaten track but with all the amenities of any major European centre. And you wouldn’t go far wrong staying at the Bonum – good value for money all round.

I have just returned after a short break with my girlfriend and this place was perfect for us. The staff were very helpful and explained what we should visit in the short time we were there. The place was clean, warm and had a cosy feel. Rooms are nicely decorated and spacious. Very close to everything you would want to visit including the river walk and the long market and churches. Tea and coffee and bottles of water provided and free internet wi-fi which worked fine. Bed was very comfy.

Hotel Aureus is a new hotel just outside of the main town. Fantastic location, very quiet residential area. Felt very safe at all times. Check-in process was smooth and the clerk spoke excellent English.

We booked an "apartment" for 450zl and the room itself was very nice on the 4th floor. Comfortable bed, pull out couch, a shower that was pretty large for Europe, a balcony and everything was very modern.

The only downside, was that for an apartment it was very small. We had 4 adults and with the pull-out couch out, there wasn't much room to move or put our suitcases. They should probably call it a suite more than an apartment.

As noted in other reviews, you can walk everywhere in town within 15 minutes. Gdansk is a very compact city.

We left before breakfast was served, but snuck a peek as they were setting up in the downstairs restaurant. It looked fantastic with multiple hot trays of food and lots of various other cold options. One of the nicer spreads I've seen for breakfast, which was included in the cost.

Walking from the station to the hotel my sense of panic increased as the neighborhood worsened. It seemed to be in a rather run-down area. But don't panic. Having booked in we ventured south and soon found ourselves in the heart of an incredible town centre. So the location of the hotel is mixed. Hardly chic, but it is close to the station and town. At night the local schools and neighbors fall silent leaving tranquil sleeping conditions.

The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable but our standard room lacked air conditioning and a fridge which would have been welcome in the heat.

The staff were pleasant.

We did not try the restaurant as waterfront cafes and restaurants were so close and attractive.

Hi,there are two ways to get to our Hotel from the airport. We can order a taxi for you that would be waiting at the airport. It costs 80,00 PLN (about 20,00 EURO). If you are interested in ordering a taxi transfer, please let us know and send us the number of your flight and supposed time of arrival . There is also a possibility to take a City Bus no. 210. It goes from the Airport via the city center – you should get off the bus at the bus stop ‘Dworzec Główny’ (Main Railway Station). The ticket cost about 4 PLN/person (about 1 EURO/ person). If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact us: recepcja@hotelbonum.pl
